ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan is responding to public queries via telephone today, live, during a PTI programme.

In response to a question as to why there was no rule of law in Pakistan, the prime minister said the powerful and the weak should both be equal before the law.

He said it would take time for change to take shape in Pakistan, adding that expecting the country to be reformed overnight would only lead to disappointment.

"I can't turn on a switch and rivers of milk will flow," he said.

He credited Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) with establishing the State of Madinah where everyone was equal before the law.

The prime minister shared the example of Germany, Japan and other states who were destroyed after World War II but managed to stand on their own feet within a span of 10 years.

"Countries are destroyed when the heads of governments steal money in the billions and send them abroad," he said.

He said unfortunately, Pakistan's democrats had not been honest with the nation, citing the example of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, alleging that he had had the Supreme Court attacked with stick-wielding thugs back when he was the country's prime minister.

PM Imran Khan then spoke against the various cartels and mafias in the country, saying that they were benefitting from a corrupt system in the country.

The prime minister said fighting the status quo and mafias was the only reason he had become a politician in the first place.

"You all [Pakistanis] have to stand with me in this war," he said. "And Insha'Allah, I will win this war."

Western countries, media use human rights issues to promote their foreign policy objectives: PM Imran Khan
In response to another caller, the prime minister said it was a fact that most of the Western countries and their media, used human rights issues to promote their foreign policy objectives rather than provide justice to victims.

Speaking on India's efforts to counter Chinas a growing military and economic power, he said it was a futile effort on New Delhi's part, adding that India will suffer in the process.

He addressed concerns by Kashmiris of Pakistan returning to the negotiating table with India, saying that till New Delhi did not reverse its August 5 decision of scrapping Article 370, the government of Pakistan will not hold any dialogue with it.

PM says embassies have been tasked to resolve overseas Pakistanis' complaints
One caller complained about the ill-treatment meted out to him by foreign embassies to which the prime minister spoke about his recent public criticism of embassies.

PM Imran Khan praised Pakistan's embassies and their staff members, saying that they had rendered great services for Pakistan, especially when it comes to highlighting the Kashmir issue in front of the entire world.

The premier said he had directed embassies to start online services to overseas Pakistanis can register their complaints at a portal which will be set up under the supervision of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

He said embassies have been directed to solve two issues relating to overseas Pakistanis; to solve problems and issues raised by the Pakistani diaspora abroad and to facilitate Pakistanis abroad in investing into the country.

Will change the team if advisors, ministers do not perform: PM
One caller complained of people thronging Eid bazaars as the government had restricted timings of markets due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In response, the prime minister said it was a quandary as the government wanted to reduce human interaction by decreasing the hours at which business and markets operated.

However, he realised that as a result, more people flocked to markets and business centres to shop.

The prime minister urged people to wear face masks and practice social distancing to stem the spread of the virus.

Answering another question by the same caller, he said Pakistan was trying to produce vaccines locally and in this regard, he would "soon give glad tidings to the nation".

The caller had also asked the prime minister whether he was satisfied with his team of ministers and advisors. In response, PM Imran Khan gave the analogy of a cricket team, saying that out of a team of 11 players, not everyone could become a star.

"Not everyone can be a superstar," he said, adding that ministers who do not perform will be excluded from the team.

"If the ministers and advisors do not perform, the team will have to be changed," he said.

'Apka Wazir-e-Azam Aap Kai Sath'

The premier is undertaking the initiative as part of the programme “Aapka Wazir- e-Azam Aap Kai Sath” which began its live telecast from 1:30 pm on PTV.

The public can call and speak to the prime minister dialling 051-9224900. The live interaction will be aired through radio and other social media platforms.

The prime minister has been regularly appearing in live TV programmes, enthusiastically joined by people from every walk of life who frequently pose different questions about national, global and other common issues.

These questions are then answered by the prime minister, sometimes with the help of some members of his cabinet.

I am watching this session live now. So far, one question has seemed dubious out of the six so far.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday said Pakistan will not engage in dialogue with India unless New Delhi retreats from its August 5 decision on Indian Illegaly Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

"Unless India retreats from the steps taken on August 5 and the statehood imposed on Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Pakistani government will not talk to India at all."

"Unfortunately, the western media and countries raise the issue of Kashmir only to pursue their foreign policy objectives," he said, adding that "they want to see a powerful India to tackle the growing threat of China".

The prime minister added that it is foolish to think that India would stand up to China because it would only result in the former's destruction.

Supremacy of law

Responding to another caller, the premier reiterated that Pakistan cannot progress unless there is an equal law for the powerful and the weak, saying supremacy of law is the only way forward.

"A country witnesses destruction when those at the helm of affairs are involved in loot and plunder," he added. "In the past [former prime minister] Nawaz Sharif attacked the Supreme Court, while our government doesn't interfere in the matters of the judiciary."

"The corrupt mafia doesn't want the law to prevail and so they are creating hurdles in its way."

Regarding the usurping of state law, he said that the government has got freed 21,000 acres of land amounting to Rs27 billion.

Sugar scandal

Replying to another caller on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen's case, he said, "there won't be any injustice with anyone, but I promise the masses that I won't spare the sugar barons. I won't grant them an NRO."

Performance of ministers

The premier said that several ministers are doing a remarkable job and added, "for those who aren't, I can only say that we will then have to change the team."

Earlier, the premier appealed to the masses to adhere to the precautionary SOPs on Eid to remain safe from COVID-19.

"We have successfully dealt with the first two waves of COVID-19 and now we should do the same to avoid a situation similar to India."

During the last session on April 4, the premier said that he could not defeat corruption alone without the support of the judiciary.

Responding to the public's questions during a live broadcast session, the premier stressed the need for cohesive efforts by the society for the success of the jihad against corruption.

PM Imran had said the powerful elite had embezzled the national wealth by holding on to powerful offices and then resorted to money laundering as they could not hide such huge amounts in their respective countries.

Expressing his resolve, the premier said: “We have to win this fight – the fight for the rule of law. It's vital for the country's survival."

Unfortunately this is EXACTLY what many in Pak expect.

Everyone is waiting on a Messiah to come fix it all for them, and no one is ready to fix his own self.

This shahana mizaaji won’t actually work because God has promised that, he will not change the situation of a nation if they are not ready to change themselves.

Imran spent over 10 years hyping himself up and projecting himself as a savior. As a messiah.

Now that he has failed miserably, he is making excuses.

He thought running the country would be like captaining a cricket team - he thought everything would fix itself now that the great Kaptaan and cornered tiger is the PM.

However, he received a brutal reality-check during his time in the office. He has not lived up to the expectations has not delivered on a single promise that he made.

The tabdeeli has failed. It has flopped.

Naya Pakistan is the biggest scam this country has ever seen.

I doubt that would stand up to much scrutiny considering the track record of previous PMs of the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday said that he had "not done injustice" with estranged PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen, while also denying that he had given an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) to Tarin who is facing an inquiry by the Federal Investi*gation Agency (FIA) related to the sugar scam.

He made the comments while responding to a caller on the 'Apka Wazeer-e-Azam Apke Saath' programme during which he took telephone calls from citizens.

The premier said that Tareen claimed he was a victim of injustice. "I have never done any injustice with anyone. When I haven't done it with any of my opponents, how will I do it with Jahangir Tareen?"

However, he vowed to "never give an NRO" to people who were part of the sugar mafia and had caused trouble for the people. These mafias did not pay taxes and raised sugar prices whenever they wanted to, the premier said, emphasising that they would not get any "facility".

He said there were two types of thieves, those who stole on a smaller scale while others, like officeholders who stole on a much bigger scale. Nations are destroyed when officeholders start stealing, he added.

The premier said PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif had a money laundering case worth Rs700 billion against him.

"This is just one case, [authorities] have a book's worth of cases against him. The only time (the stolen) money comes back is when one of the wives or sons have to buy a house. Now, if you gather all Pakistani prisoners who have stolen, all their thievery combined is not equal to Rs700bn.

He claimed that because of the two NROs given by former president Pervez Musharraf to Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif, the country's loans had mushroomed from Rs6 trillion to Rs30tr. "This is what has destroyed the country. I have always said I would not give an NRO and I am saying it again today."

When one of the callers asked Prime Minister Imran whether he was happy with his ministers, the premier said: "I have 11 players in my team, some of them are very good. If [the ministers] are not good, they will be thrown out of the team."

Call with envoys
Responding to a call by an overseas Pakistani regarding embassies and consulates, Prime Minister Imran Khan said the embassies and Foreign Office had done "splendid work in terms of diplomacy".

Referring to his talk with Pakistani envoys last week in which he had adopted a strong tone while asking them to take care of overseas Pakistanis, the premier said that he felt the "programme should not have been broadcast live" and only excerpts should have been shared.

"It seemed like I was castigating the entire Foreign Office. That is not true. They are doing splendid work."

Talking about the steps the government would take, the premier said that all embassies had been directed to establish online complaint systems while a portal was also being created under the supervision of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. All the complaints that were not solved by the embassy would be forwarded to a special officer working under the foreign minister, he added.

He identified two areas where he said embassies needed improvement — consular services and attracting foreign investment, adding that overseas Pakistanis would be put in touch with the Ministry of Commerce to inform them about investment opportunities in the country.

'Follow SOPs to avoid lockdown'
He once again urged people to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to save themselves from the coronavirus and to avoid another countrywide lockdown.

The prime minister said that in the previous two waves of Covid-19, especially in the first one, people had cooperated and the country had managed to avoid a bad outcome.

He pointed to the worsening regional situation and rising coronavirus cases in neighbouring countries, saying Pakistan "got out of it (pandemic) well". Unlike India, Pakistan did not impose another lockdown, he said, sharing that a report stated 220 million people in the neighbouring country had fallen into poverty as a result of the harsh lockdown.

"We saved our nation from both sides. It is the third wave now. See the conditions in India [...] cases are rising very fast in Bangladesh, Nepal and Iran. In comparison, God has saved us till now."

Prime Minister Imran said he wanted people to take care of the elderly and their nation during the Eidul Fitr holidays by taking precautionary measures. "The more careful you are, the [sooner] we will get out of this disaster," he said, warning that Pakistan could face a situation similar to India's if people were not careful.

The premier shared that cases in Pakistan despite not decreasing had stabilised.

"I am requesting all of you to follow SOPs now for your country, nation and families." Holding up a mask, he said it was 50 per cent effective in preventing the spread of the virus.

"If you are cautious and [celebrate] Eid in a [simpler] way, then we will get out of this third wave as well," he stressed.

'Fighting against mafia real jihad'
Prime Minister Imran said Pakistan's main problem was that the supremacy of the law had not been established. The problem had begun when former chief justice Mohammad Munir had "allowed" martial law to be imposed through the doctrine of necessity principle, he added.

The democrats who had come into power after martial law ended did not establish the supremacy of the law as well, he claimed, saying that the "battle" started when Musharraf removed the then chief justice of Pakistan.

"I was thrown in jail because I was with the chief justice," PM Imran recalled. "I am very proud that my party and I participated fully [in the protests against the removal].

"Our government does not interfere with the judiciary. I say with pride that we do not interfere with NAB (National Accountability Bureau) because we want the supremacy of the law. Bringing the powerful within ambit of law is jihad (holy war)."

The prime minister said that fighting against the mafias who did not want the supremacy of the law to be established was his "real jihad" and success in the fight was near.

Palestine and Kashmir
Replying to a question about the violence in Jerusalem, the prime minister said he condemned the atrocities committed on the Palestinians by the Israeli forces in Al Aqsa and had asked Foreign Minister Qureshi to "immediately talk" to his counterparts in Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

He said Pakistan was trying to bring together Muslim countries to discuss the situation in Jerusalem as well as how to tackle Islamophobia.

The premier also criticised Western countries for not highlighting the human rights issues in occupied Kashmir.

"When the Western media and countries raise human rights issues, it is not because they care about human rights. They use it to push their foreign policy objectives. This is a reality," he told the caller.

He said that the West was focused on India because it wanted the country to rival China in the region. "This is foolish because if India stands against China, it would destroy itself," he noted.

"Western newspapers now criticise Hindu extremist ideology," he said, giving credit to Pakistan for playing a big role in raising awareness about conditions in the occupied valley.

He acknowledged however that Western countries were "not standing with Kashmiris" in the way Pakistan wanted them to.

"As long as India does not take back its steps of Aug 5, 2019, Pakistan will not hold any talks with India," the premier said.

All of them were much better than Imran.

I said I doubt your claim that "Naya Pakistan is the biggest scam this country has ever seen" would stand up to much scrutiny considering the track record of previous PMs of the country. That is what you need to refute. "All of them are much better than Imran'' isn't really convincing.

All of them were much better than Imran.

Okay :) You bankrupt the country and then have the audacity to blame Khan? These were reports before the 2018 elections of how your parties destroyed the country. Have shame as its ramadhan.

Imran Khan has destroyed the economy and thus destroyed the country. He reduced the GDP from 5.5-5.8% to 1.9%, thus completely crippling and choking the economy.

He has destroyed the middle and lower-class. He has destroyed small business owners and street vendors. All of them are cursing him on a daily basis.

He knows he has lost the support and faith of the public, why is why he is now desperately fishing for the votes of overseas Pakistanis to save himself from humiliation in 2023.

People thought the PPP government from 2008-12 was the worst and most in impotent government in Pakistan’s history, but the Imran Khan government has broken all records of incompetence.

It has been a complete circus show, but the good news is that this madness is going to end soon and PTI has no long-term future.

I watched the first 45 minutes of the session. Here is the summary:

- I know the West more than anyone because I have lived there.

- Nawaz Sharif has wrecked the country. I will not spare anyone who does corruption.

-Inflation is due to mafias; they are very strong.

-The law is different for the poor and the rich.

- Many Pakistanis do not have access to drinking water.

- We cannot prosper till we ensure rule of law.

- PML-N MNAs and MPAs occupied tracts of land that we have recovered.

-Our judiciary is very slow.

- Pakistan has one of the world’s lowest petrol prices (while holding up a graphic of petrol prices in China, the US, Bangladesh and a few others countries)

- I have specially appointed the new finance minister to up our GDP growth rate.

-Pakistan is a jungle, the powerful are untouchable.

-Sharifs and Bhuttos have been looting Pakistan.
Basically, after hearing his call-in session, I thought Imran was the opposition leader.

To me it is better that he is upfront about the problems rather than whitewashing and pretending everything is hunky dory, while smuggling assets abroad into foreign bank accounts. IK's trademark is his honesty, whereas the actual opposition are generally considered the opposite.

What is use of this honesty, corrupt but competent any day of the week above this clueless but honest PM. Its everyone's fault but his.

Where are these corrupt but competent alternatives? I don't recall many on here lauding their competence when Pakistan was on it's way to failed state status.

In other words he is accepting his failures. What he really means is "I am unable to fulfill my pre election promises".

Destroyed? You know the growth was not sustainable? Do you want me pull out articles that shown the truth of the growth of the time? How the country was crippling in debts and the imports/exports levels were shockingly bad. Do you really want me to do this or are you going to do some homework or simply stop lying.

Did anyone in India ask pakistan for any dialogue? Why do they keep repeating, pakistan wont talk till steps of August 5 are not taken back?

I thought that I would finally spare fifteen minutes of my precious time to outline PMNLs performance that our golden boy raves about. It is important to note that between 2013-2018, the PMLN had more favorable conditions, these include the oil prices being lower (compared to when PPP was in power) and also the world interest rates were much lower. Of course, they had no global pandemic that the current government has to face, for example, the UK economy has shrunk by an approximate 10% in 2020 due to COVID as accord to the Financial Times whilst the Pakistan economy performed much better.

It is important to start by busting the GDP bubble during the PMLN era as it simply was not sustainable and on the back of reckless policies. Let start with Pakistan’s debt, the total debt has increased by 79% between the 2013/2018 (Dawn). This simply mean that the total debt as a percentage of GDP in this period increased by a shocking 11.2% (from 67.2% to 78.4%). Dwelling into further details, the PMLN traitors even destroyed public-sector enterprises, as their debt increased by a staggering 242% in the PMLN rule. To conclude this magnificent performance by the competent Noorahs and where Pakistan was heading, the State Bank of Pakistan in 2017 outlined how debt accumulation rapidly enhanced due to Macroeconomic imbalances and a twin current & fiscal account deficit. All this information showcase what the PTI government had to inherit and the fact that the painful stabilization of the economy was essential for the country. The peoples current suffering is due to the Patwaris and the Patwaris know it but they will continue lying.

Let me burst this performance bubbles further by considering imports/exports, in 2013 the exports stood at $30B (all figures are rounded) and then after 5 years of competent performed they decreased to $28B (Macrotrends). As accord to the World Bank, these were a meagre 8.257% of GDP in 2017, whilst this figure stood over 15% in 2003 (a dictator’s reign). Considering imports, Pakistan’s imports were $46.37B in 2013 and by 2018, they were $63.14B. This was further great performance by the patwaris in power.

To conclude, I can write a detailed article so that people who are not mistaken by these noorahs. Deceit is second nature to them. PTI is performing better than the Noorah government even in a pandemic, for example, Samaa reported that Pakistan’s exports hit 10 years high in March 2021, this is during a pandemic and when the economy is in stabilization mode. Imran Khan needs a decade to turn around this economy, he will do it. If these goons come back in power, then defaulting and ruin is in your destiny.

Did anyone in India ask pakistan for any dialogue? Why do they keep repeating, pakistan wont talk till steps of August 5 are not taken back?

Someone asked him a question about that topic in the Apka Wazir-e-Azam Aap Kai Sath program. So he gave him an answer.

:)))

True , lot of excuses and complaining.

Not excuses, it is the realization of impotence (I don't know what other word to use).

Imran Khan is feeling this impotence because he severely underestimated Shareef family's ties with bureaucracy, 'justice' system and military establishment.

The good news is: Shareefs are on the run. They know.
Despite going against the countercurrent of Pakistani decades old corruption, IK has still achieved something unheard of in last 60 years of Pakistani history, i.e.: make looters quake.

This is just a start. If he somehow manages to implement electronic voting machines, save economy from Covid and win next elections then expect 50 years' worth of change in 5 years.

Fingers crossed.

-Religious intolerance is at its peak in India

-RSS is after India’s Muslims

-Muslims are suffering in India

-BJP is an extreme outfit

-Hindu supremacists are destroying India

-Gross rights violation in Kashmir

Imran is fighting a lone battle against status quo and corrupt mafia and sadly corrupt judges and media are part of that mafia. I read somewhere that 35 of 45 LHC judges are Sharif appointees. They are a part of the problem.

Just take a look at the performance of LHC judges:

- They recently granted bail to Aqeel alias Gogi Butt, one of the biggest land grabbers in Lahore!

- LHC allowed NS to go abroad (read 'flee') for 'medical treatment' on Rs. 50 stamp paper. Subsequent events have shown that the government was right all along in asking for a surety bond of Rs 6 billion (which was heavily criticised at the time by the media and everyone) as guarantee that NS would return. We all know that he has not sought any treatment in London so far and that the platelet story was all a hoax.

- And then LHC gave permission to SS to travel abroad without even taking him to task about NS's refusal to return. NS has now been declared an absconder by Islamabad High Court.

Both LHC and Shahbaz Sharif were guarantors of NS's return. Should Qs not be asked of both about NS? Should the doctor who gave forged reports to the court (and government) about NS's health to the court be held to account? In any other country his medical licence would have been cancelled for falsifying medical reports and deceiving courts in this way.

LHC should be renamed as LHC-N

No wonder our judicial system is ranked a dismal or sharamnaak 120 or something in the world!

Because of massive money laundering by PML-N and PPP, Pakistan was placed on FATF but corrupt media won't even highlight this point or talk about it!

Yes there is inflation and yes governance could be better, but sugar is now being sold in utility stores at Rs 65 per kg according to my brother in Islamabad but media won't show this.

And petrol price in Pakistan (Rs 109) is still low when compared to other countries but media won't highlight that (India Rs 192, Bangladesh Rs 161, USA Rs 132, Turkey Rs 132, Sri Lanka Rs 125, Indonesia Rs 113)

Exactly, majority of the nation is corrupt and dishonest in their own day to day life. Many in Pak won't even understand this and feel offended when we point it out. They can't see it because they are part of it.

Many even in this thread who have a critique about rice donation... I bet will happily take a bag of rice if there is chance EVEN THOUGH they may NOT be among the needy and deserving ones.

70 saal sey foreign AID aur Qarz pe palnay wali qome jisney mulk ko corruption ranking pe # 124 ka tohfa diya huva hai, aaj Imran Khan ko morality pe lecture dey rahi hai .... as ironic as it gets.

Great initiative from IK, he's a coherent thinker and an articulate speaker. Opposition leaders can only dream of facing the public like he does

Good to see Imran taking calls from public. Bhutto, zardari and sharif never had the guts to do this. Hell, they were barely in Pakistan as Prime Ministers and President of Pakistan. Which leader of a nation doesn’t been reside in the nation majority of times.
