India, and Pakistan also, not making the final will make a difference to the ICC. He is not wrong.

I think Coney was more than likely talking about the spectacle and the stadium being full to the brim with Indian fans, rather than anything underhand.

My 2 cents anyway.

Other teams winning the WC will spur more interest in the game in that country which is something ICC should take as a positive rather than relying on just one country to generate the bulk of their revenues.

I hope England Wins tomorrow's game so that way we will have a new World Cup Champion in Cricket

He's referring to ticket sales and crowd atmosphere. Broadcasting rights were sold aeons ago, so their payout won't be affected. However, Star would suffer in terms of ad revenue, in case that was contingent upon India progressing.

Tough luck. I am utterly delighted as a cricket fan at the outcome.

I am very happy indian cricket council will not be hapoy

Just for arrogant Kohli, I am glad NZ won today. Fans were getting too confident and Kohli thinks he is above the game.

Well done, Kiwis.

If India suddenly started losing in ICC tournaments then Star will not bid that high for tv rights next time. They depend on Pakistan vs India and after that for India to reach in semis and finals.

ICC to announce a fine against Jeremy shortly.

I would like to see them win this World Cup by beating England. NZ is always my 2nd favorite, S Africa 3rd favorite after Pakistan

Maybe but he really needs to either come out & say WHY he thinks that or it just sounds like a chip on the shoulder, tinfoil hat stuff if he can't explain what he means by that.

England to win ... slap for India and Dhoni for the way they played the Eng game... ahhh Karma .....

Maybe check the entire Kiwi team for doping, and all the bowlers for chucking.

Hand out a couple of bans.

I think ICC shouldnt bother to arrange WC or any Cup. just gve this to India/Eng/Aus after every 4 years ,becoz the Big three are money makers. why bother to arrange 45 days sham tournament.

:91: Poor Indians that had to call in sick for the second day....just to see their team lose. :tb

ICC for future tournaments: Semi Final Big 3 to qualify directly: India, Australia and Englad. The remaning spot will be played by other countries.

Well at least someone has the balls to say it like it is. Shows what organisation and hard work can achieve. Kiwi population of only 4.8m outdid a country with over a billion people and cricket is not even their main sport. Hats off to them and Williamson by far the best batsman of this era.

We witnessed this in this tournament too & NZ was the first one which supported the big 3. Everyone get his piece of pie in this WC.

I dislike the attitude of the Kiwi players. I find them generally quite racist, apart from their fatherland India as they need to be in a job

I still want England to win.

#PakWasRobbed

So even after today’s result we’re pretending that India would definitely have beaten NZ in the group stage?

If anything, this result should quieten the Pakistan fans who insist that NZ only got through thanks to a lucky rainout against India.

Never called you out. But the amount of complaining in this forum about us being undeserving semifinalists was on another level.

Technically, it should have been Pakistan in semi final vs India. Indian members got their wish true in regards to wanting New Zealand over Pakistan in semi final. :moyo2

While we are at it, see if India can still sneak by on NRR lol

I personally have a theory that it was designed (instead of head to head wins) with a certain team in mind, although now it fell flat on their face!

Pretty obvious that a final between the home team and the best supported team would have been ideal for the ICC.

Sometimes it doesn't always work out the way you had intended :)

We didn't even deserve to be in the semis last week. What happened now? :13:

Deserving teams dont always get into the semis, NZ deserved to be in the semis ahead of us in 1992 but we made it, so now in 2019 we deserved to be in the semis but you guys made it.

Why should this be a surprise? Losing tens of millions of advertising dollars will not make anyone happy.

However being unhappy doesn't mean they will cheat to try to get India to win. If I lost money, like everybody else I would be unhappy about that, but it would not lead me to cheat.

If India wins, it is by "design".

If India loses, it is because the "design" fell flat.

Conspiracy theories are the way forward to a better life.

We actually were top of the table and made it to the semis in 1992. We lost to you lot in the semis.

Tbf we did not deserve to make the SFs based on how we performed in the group stages. Most Kiwis I talked to said the same. The team had no form or confidence.

Unfortuantely for India, our first good performance in the tournament came in the SFs :)))

Talk about trolling.

We do deserve to be playing on a Final based on how the team performed in the SF.

This has to be one of the greatest NZ wins of all time. Incredible, still buzzing.

The best team is through . Who cares what ICC think?

No ,new zealand are an inferior team.We crushed them 4-1 in their own den.
We lost because of our own mistakes, not fixing middle order problem. What everyone feared would happen for 2-3 years happened finally.Doesnt make new zealand a better team.India beat West indies in 83.Didn't make them a better team.

I think the playoffs were a good way to minimize this scenario

Cheap mentality! NZ a small country has great history of cricket (similar or even better than India) and they take the game seriously (just like other smaller countries like Sri Lanka, WI...) Them winning a cup is thoroughly deserving and it is great for the game! Dirty Indian fans should continue to watch the rest of the world cup if they treat cricket as their religion (that religion is great only if outsiders are also welcomed with open hands! That is the TRUE INDIAN CULTURE!) and appreciate the team which has won (Just like how they welcome foreigners in IPL!)

Actually the TV or any media fools can continue to make money by arranging series of shows dissecting India's performance, player's performance, what went wrong, next steps, next planning, etc! There are fools who will continue to watch even that! So they need not worry much!

If ICC really cannot make money without India winning, then they can sack the world cup! There is no point in playing it... BCCI can arrange another IPL this year and donate some money to ICC, if cricket is all about money!

I think the playoffs were a good way to minimize this scenario

It was already a long series! 50 overs is enough for teams to come back! Playoffs can work well for T20... They can think of it for T20 WC (but it is not needed actually!)

India didn't have No.4 & No.5 batsmen They played wrong persons in that position- Pant & Pandya should have batted at No.6 & No.7 respectively! Which meant Dhoni & DK didn't belong here! This stupidity is enough for a team to lose! If Dhoni was so much needed for this world cup and if he was scared to come at No.4, then they should have groomed proper batsmen for No.4 & No.5 and not these wicket-keepers! Only 1 backup keeper was sufficient in case of minor injury (for major injuries you can replace entirely as we already did!) If they felt Pant was a rookie then they should have completely avoided him! DK should have played only in place of Dhoni (in case of injury or loss of form! But Dhoni cannot be out of form isn't it? So DK should have never played! Not as a specialist batsman, utter stupidity) Three wicket-keepers playing in the same XI (one is worn out, one is rookie, one is useless) is enough for this loss. It is not that these players are terrific with bat (Dhoni was in the past, Pant might be in the future - but currently both are not at their best!) Unfortunately no idiots in the responsible position thought in this way!

I meant the best team.on the day is through.

Brave of Coney to say this when others would just stay quiet.

He's working for the BBC.........for now.

TMS commentary is way better than the tv stuff..they say all sorts lol..even isa Guha is a bit better on there..

I dont agree with Coney, if ICC wanted India in the finals, all the umpires call decision would have gone India's way. In the SF no umpire's call went India's way

The setting wouldn't be an ideal one but Indians across the globe who have landed in or based out of the United Kingdom will be in majority during the World Cup 2019 final at the Lord's on July 14. All the tickets for the final have been sold out and despite India's shock ouster in the semi-finals, 90 percent of the fans who have planned their trips months in advance, will still be thronging at the 'Mecca of Cricket' expecting some high quality action.

Many expected that Indian fans would be selling off their tickets for the final, which they have bought in anticipation of Virat Kohli and his team playing the final.

A visit to ICC's ticketing website indeed provided a confirmation that the resale traffic is really low.

If a ticket buyer has registered himself with the website and someone in possession of tickets wants to sell off, the former gets an email confirmation.

The various price categories like bronze (95 GBP), silver (195 GBP), gold (295 GBP) and platinum (395 GBP) have sold out markers against them.

Even the tickets for minors in all these categories which come for 20, 30 and 40 GBP respectively has also been sold out.

"The resale platform - has been busy with lots of people looking for tickets but very few selling. So interest is still high. We have the platform if they want to sell," an ICC spokesperson told PTI when asked if things would change post India's defeat.

With England starting off well against Australia on the day, there is a possibility that the British citizens of Indian origin, will root for their adopted nation.

"Don't forget though most of those India fans are also UK citizens so may come and support England depending on today," the spokesperson further added.

Another ICC source said that Indians especially all those coming from the United States, Canada and Australia to watch the semi-final and final have all their bookings done.

"They have paid for return airfares, done their hotel bookings and have already watched a semi-final. Why will they leave without getting the feel of a World Cup final at the Lord's," the source said.

There could be a few who might just try to sell off their tickets at premium prices but obviously there won't be fresh demands from the Indian community and its unlikely that New Zealanders, or Australians or English will loosen their purse strings to shell out a grand or two like supporters of 'Men in Blue'.

Agreed. It sounds cocky to me, no idea why he made this statement out of the blue.. no context whatsoever.
