In his recent interview with PakPassion, former Pakistan cricketer Aaqib Javed gave his thoughts on the young Pakistani batsman. 'I must also mention the name of a young man called Saif Badar who I feel will be the next batting hero for Pakistan in possibly two to three years’ time'.

Quite high praise from an unsung hero of Pakistani Cricket.

Is Aaqib correct or will Saif turn out to be another hyped but unfulfilled player ?

He should be in the odi team for next year champions trophy the team should look like this:

lol He should first play at least two sason of domestic cricket and Pakistan A.
 
^^^Woah, the list was readable till the last one, steady on, I don't think Latif has any creds to being an ODI player, he is barely able to stay on his legs for the T20 games, even that 'Just'!
 
Saif Badar looked a good prospect, but he needs to get a bit older, develop more. Give him at least 2 years to prove himself in domestics and include him in all Pakistan A tours.
 
Looks good. Shadab Khan also looks good, Both seems to carry power game.
 
Can anyone give some insight into his game at all? No real numbers or video to go by.

He's got all the shots. Favours lofted drives down the ground like Inzi. Plays the uppercut well. Sweet timer of the ball. His build is similar to Shoaib, long and lean but more muscular. Though unlike Shoaib, he moves his feet well. Hits the ball powerfully when he grabs a hold of it due to the leverage he gets.
 
I seen his batting vs England at the under-19s. He's got a very good stance and upright positioning at the crease. He bat's with a straight bat and attacks spinners pretty well too.

Let's see if he can get a chance domestically, but more so against the backdrop of our inept selectors and amateur bird watchers.

He's got great potential. Really looking forward how he develops. It will be really good if Karachi Kings sign him up from the emerging players list. It will be really good specially he can work with Arthur also Malik seems to like him. So i really hope they sign him up.
 
I concur with aqib.

Saif badar is 19 and they should look to blood him in the A team ASAP and perhaps in the national side soon. I dont say this for every 19 yo because most of them arent good enough yet but this guy is a natural. Do not let him rot in domestics.

He's not 19 yet and I disagree. He needs at least one domestic season under his belt. Needs to learn how to construct an innings.
 
Only 18 and he already knows how to create a base and engage his core to power-hit. What's great about Saif is his length, if he gets hold of something it will go.

They showed his age as 19 today.

He should learn innings construction with the national or A team as a special case. He is more or less a readymade talent. Simply cannot risk putting him in the hands of domestic coaches. Remember what happened to that explosive opener? Gosh , cant even recall his name today.

He's in good hands with Mudassar.
 
The next batting hero is batted at no. 8 by the team management. Way to destroy players.
PCB should identify decent batting talents and lay out a plan for them to get into the national team, youngsters needs guidance and spoon feeding to help them mature.
Guys like Saif, Saud Shakeel and few others should be taken under the wings and ensure that they are not lost in the system.
 
The current crop of batsman we are having in our national team, I wouldnt mind these young guys introduced into the team immediately. Fed up with watching Azhar, Shehzad, Akmals in the ODI team.

clearly he needs to take responsibility but what shocking handling of him by the pcb and nca.

People forget he played one t20 for pakistan before being Banished
 
saif can become the next babar azam for pakistan. he is technically very sound. MashaAllah
 
I like what I saw of Saif in the u19 WC. We all can fully trust PCB to completely ruin him though.
 
These new guys are not going to get any chances as long as TTFs are undeservingly occupying spots despite history of failure. Nepotistic and sifaarish based selection has pushed the team to the bottom of rankings. Hafeez , azhar ali( from LOI), wahab, malik, shehzad, akmals, they all have to be force retired. Ruman Raees, Shinwari, Atif Jabbar, Usman Salahuddin, Umar Amin, Yamin, Fahim, Saif, Sami Aslam, Sharjeel, Shahzaib ( they 'll be back), Saud Shakeel all these guys have to be inducted in the team replacing the has beens for good. The era of mediocrity will only end when the new guys are rewarded for their performances.

Yes exactly Nauman anwar. I wouldnt even blame him because his technique was completely changed with particular emphasis on preventing him from getting lbw. I am quite certain he wouldnt have done it himself if not advised by someone. That was such a pathetic move because it took away all the flair he had. Modern day coaches dont do that because they know even players with crappy techniques flourish in LOIs if they have good hitting techniques.
 
Very good player, should be given consistent run at top of the order in domestic cricket.
 
neds to find a good domestic and PSL team for the next season and get to play consistently.

I don't thing any thing wrong with NCA , Babar Azam is purely Product of NCA and He is excellent.

Player don't work hard and blame NCA , PCB etc.

The difference is that people have been talking about Babar Azam since he was 13/14 years of age. If you are going to make massive changes to a player that's the time, not when they are 20. At that stage, you need to correct your weakness without completely overhauling your strengths.

again as i said earlier, Nauman has plenty to blame on himself, but the way the PCB handled him was not good at all. Even if we ignore what happened at the NCA, he played one t20 for Pakistan, made 15, never came near the team again. Its inconsistency like that which is maddening

there are still to many Old School people in Pakistan cricket. I use this example a lot, but in the 2014 t20 world cup Sharjeel was picked but never played because Zaheer Abbas who was at the manager at the time, didn't consider him to be a 'proper batsman'.


Similarly, Mukthar Ahmed was let go of for similar reasons after one bad series. Meanwhile 'proper batsman' like Shehzad, Shafiq and now Azhar continually play/ed limited overs game, despite never improving. Plus no one seems to care that lot of their best performances come against minnows despite years of international cricket.

Nauman was toyed with by his domestic team not at NCA.

I have no hard feeling for numan , But he got fews chances in PSL and unable to impress.
 
Saif Badar is an amazing prospect.
The real deal as they call it he is a middle order batsmen that is aggressive while he can also accumulate when the going gets tough really want him to open the batting next year for Lahore qalandars
This year should also hopefully be his 1st first class season
 
He surely looked very very good indeed. Awesome shots and good power. Very unlike our pathetic bats
 
This season is important for him

He needs to play for a team where he can get games
 
Those two shots have given him all he needed from PSL.

Now he must score heavily in domestic Cricket.


Don't know why Lahore let him go. Aqib must answer.
 
I don't know why our ex cricketers give such sweeping statements regarding players who impress them? Why not judge their performances in domestic cricket, before give such statements?
 
He showed a few glimpses of his ability but hasn't stayed long enough at the crease to judge, Multan have treated him terribly though.
 
Think bigger issue is the tendency to use hyperboles for Aaqib!
 
He for sure can hit the ball a long way. An interesting middle order prospect, but nothing more than that till he does more.

this kids near future is done... now he needs to go to domestics and pile up the runs to be noticed and picked in psl 4.... 50% multan let him down 50% was his own failiure to capitalize.

I wish him all the best. I am disappointed with his performances but he can always come back stronger in future
 
I feel saif didnt get a fair crack in PSL but his domestic stats are mediocre at best. Umair Masood is more talented more none of them got a chance in PSL
