"Well if we look at the last 2 games, even though they [SA] were a bit lucky and we were unlucky but that happens in any sports, but what has happened has gone now, and we should focus on whats coming next"

"When I got to the ground, I came to know that I was captaining, and the decision was taken in the morning, the rest I dont know what is happening but I took over this morning just before the game started"

"My goal is to do whatever the Board or the team management is saying me to do, that is my responsibility, rest of the things I dont know about what is happening"

"Of course the goal is to give your best shot and I am not putting any pressure on any player - but whoever is in good form, it depends a lot on them to be consistent in the game and do well for the team"

"Of course when you have the game [in your grasp] and it slips away from your hands that irritates you but I think at the end of the day, the goal is to give your best shot and today even when we got to the mind we had one one thing in our minds, which was to give our best shot"

"I must highlight the way all of them [bowlers] bowled today, it was exceptional and they set the tone and of course our batting line-up delivered"

"We had seen a lot of rain around and the pitch was a little damp; The pacers started off well but later Hashim Bhai and Faf were playing very convincingly so then I decided OK, I will bring in spinners since the pitch wasnt a proper belter"

"and they will get some spin and that is what they both got and they [spinners] started dictating from there"

"Even though taking wickets is the key in this format and once we got Faf's wicket and Hashim Bhai's wicket that was the turning point"

"As I mentioned there was a lot of rain yesterday and the covers were on; I have played a few games here and I always played on a belter so I think its not the curator's fault or anybody's fault it just that whoever wins the toss gets a little bit of an edge"

"Overall, its the [good] all-round performance and I feel its pretty satisfying in our dressing room and that's what we want"

"Its not about doing well in one department and the other you leave behind; if you are doing well in one department, then you need to keep up [the effort] in the rest of the 2 departments as well; That;s what we have seen - even the fielders responded and the bowlers, as I mentioned, all 5 bowlers did brilliantly today"

Malik's post-match comments were excellent.

Paid tribute to the organisers of the pink match. I believe he lost a relative to colon cancer so definitely a cause close to his heart.

It's not a huge deal but having players who can conduct themselves articulately helps. Shinwari on the other hand could barely complete a sentence and Haysman wrapped the interview up quickly.

Exactly. Malik presents himself so well, no stupid statements. Such an upgrade over Sarfraz.

At the same time, you can't really blame Shinwari for having poor English, it will get better as he tours, and plays in leagues where he'll be forced to speak English.

I wish he can lead us in the WC!

Please let this happen somehow...

Malik is spot on there. This is a young team in terms of experience, and they will blow hot and cold.

I like Malik and he done well today but I'm not sure if he can maintain his place in the team.

Tough call for the management but I think Sarf will return.

Shows how important is a good captain and how poor PCB has been in appointing captains in the last two decades.

Sarfaraz being banned could be a blessing is disguise. Shoaib seems to be the ideal man to replace him as captain. Rizwan should take the gloves for the time being as well.

Strange that he only found out this morning he would be captain.

Strange goings-on with this Sarfaraz episode.

Malik brought Amir as first change, had attacking field placements when opposition was down and kept going for wickets. Sarfaraz used to hold Shadab back for the last powerplay but Malik finished his 9 overs before 35th. Overall, his captaincy was impressive today. And it was nice to see our players not getting yelled at for a change.

i didnt watch a single ball but Haysman said to Malik in post-match interview that Pak players were much more chirpy and energetic today . is that true?

No, they were more chirpy in the last game. Today, they looked more relaxed and focused instead of usual afratafri.

hmmmm right Afratrafri is the best way to describe whats been going on under Sarfraz

My Urdu is pretty decent although I can't read or write it - what does that word "Afratrafri" mean in English please??

He did a good job today. He should keep on looking for wickets when we are bowling. If we can restrict teams to lower scores , anything is possible at the WC.

I don’t believe him, but I also don’t think he engineered it as well

Need a few more tweets for the icing on the cake.

I am really worried. I see a Shoaib vs Sarfraz camp emerging - through no fault of either player.

Pakistan media and the bumbling PCB will fuel it and it will all become very dysfunctional very soon.

I can see it coming from a mile away...

Shoaib was definitely the better captain today than Sarfaraz has been. but I doubt board is going to change the skipper at this point

Actually fans are fueling it too.

We should not do it and support both captains when they are leading Pakistan. Lets assess Malik after end of t20 series and dont talk about grouping etc for now.

Only way is if Sarfraz gets injured or finds himself banned again.
Lets make dua brother, for the sake of the Pakistan Cricket team!:danish

Or Rizwan scores heavily in remaining matches. Shoib should let him bat up the order.

Big improvement from the "apologize to all muslims" days.

we don't have a vice captain? LMAO that tells you a story

Somebody ask Inzi why we are not grooming the next captain no matter the timeframe...thats why you have vice captains...how come there wasn't an uproar about this when squad was announced (that too on an away tour when you are 1000s of miles away) WHAT A JOKE

I will be surprised if any player sides with Sarfraz. He is a big time bully.

Because it puts pressure on his highness Sarfraz.

All sarfarz's fault if he has lost the dressing room. His horrible behavior and arrogance has lead to his downfall. I hope for the sake of Pakistan cricket players revolt and push for Malik to lead the side.

We need to start preparing for the World Cup now. We only have the England series to go before the big one!

I don't know why PCB and selectors haven't warned and shut up his shouting on the field. That really gives Pakistan a bad image. These are all grown up men playing cricket and are being monitored by selectors, journalists, tv channels and fans. They don't need their captain shouting at them all the time to remind them of their mistakes. This is the worst ever leadership technique I have ever seen.
