I have always liked Amin's batting, in spite of the lack of runs. His stance, technique, balance - everything is very un-Pakistani, and he is a rare batsman who has been coached very well. However, there is more to cricket than these basic fundamentals because ultimately, it is a game of character. So far in his career, he has not shown the mental strength that is required to succeed at the top level. He has often appeared very soft and not eager enough to score runs.
Nonetheless, he is still very young and has a decade of cricket left in him. If he can sort his mental issues, he can do well in all three formats pretty much everywhere, because his foundation is very strong. Sitting at home will not solve his mental problems, he needs to play and be part of the squad. Given our existing options, it is time that he is brought back into the fold. Would like to see him in the Test squad after this tour. He has done well in F/C cricket in the last 2 years and Test cricket could give him the mental discipline that he has lacked so far in his career.
