Some PP experts as per usual have become judge, jury, executioner and declared Fakhar not good enough for international cricket.


I'd wait till he gets a proper run before passing judgement. If anything we should be trying more and more people like Fakhar till we find the right guy, rather than bringing back 35 year old TTFs.

They are not going to fail against west indies and when they in CT it wont matter becausw they had a good series against west indies. Win win for the seniors.

I'm one of the biggest opposers of Hafeez and Akmal. But Fakhar Zaman is not good enough, And I've rated Sharjeel even when he had not made his International Debut. So don't say that to me.

Exactly, if this "limited player" is the highest averaging opener in domestics then I shudder to think what the other batsmen would be like if they can't even perform like a limited player.

Yeah because I've seen him bat and he is strictly average. I don't care about your stats guru but if stats is the case before international debut Sohaib Maqsood averaged 50+ in List A till he was exposed later in International Cricket.

He may or may not be good but writing off a top domestic performer even without giving him a chance is a trait which is common to you PP experts. Your favorites can fail and flounder but they will always remain good enough.

I have my doubts over Fakhar's ability to play pace, but it is always a good starting point to see an upcoming Pakistani batsman idolize a non-Pakistani batsman. The current generation is too young for the likes of Miandad and Zaheer Abbas, and you will go absolutely nowhere if you model your batting on folks like Inzamam, MoYo and Younis Khan.

I just saw Adam Gilchrist's highlights package in this World Cup where an ex cricketer mentions how Gilchrist was able to use his top hand dominantly and playing all those aggressive shots.

I personally didn't saw much of Gilchrist when he was playing at his peak, nor am I a technical person when it comes to bat gripping and power hitting. But it reminded me of Fakhar Zaman. I searched his name with Gilchrist and found this thread.

Does the way Fakhar bats make sense, since he grew up idolizing Gilchrist? Not only in the aggressive intent but also the sheer dominance mindset - of putting the opposition to bed - and the technical aspect.

Can any knowledgeable veteran shed more light on this topic, specially the technical side?
