Fakhar Zaman talking to media:

"Playing against international sides on your home soil makes a big difference as A sides get a chance to play international teams as well"

"I was lucky that there was a revival of Pakistan A tours and I got a chance to tour with them"

"When I first played against England Lions for Pakistan A, I felt the difference between playing in domestic cricket and such games, But once I got used to it, I didnt feel that difference too much"

"My performances with the A team were not being highlighted as much as those on behalf of the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL"

"With the Lahore Qalandars, I got to share the dressing room with the top players of the world during which allowed me to learn many things"

"If given the chance, I will try to make a memorable debut for Pakistan"

"I have watched and followed Adam Gilchrist from a young age but ABdV is also my favourite player"

"I am ready for the challenge ahead and I am also in good form, and I will try my best on the tour"

Some PP experts as per usual have become judge, jury, executioner and declared Fakhar not good enough for international cricket.

I'd wait till he gets a proper run before passing judgement. If anything we should be trying more and more people like Fakhar till we find the right guy, rather than bringing back 35 year old TTFs.

Hopefully Akmal and Hafeez are given chances ahead of him, and then when they fail he can be given an opportunity. Otherwise they will be waiting for 2-3 failures from Fakhar and quickly worm their way back in the team.

Now that he has been selected, Fakhar should be played all four T20's and three ODI's. This way he will be able to showcase his abilities without the fear of failure.

Should play all 4 T20Is, and hopefully he succeeds in them, thus earning himself a spot in the ODI XI.

I am glad he is picked. Some decent domestic stats and could do with someone at the top with good striking power after Sharjeel.

Meed to work on your batting. You are not good enough to tie the shoe lace of Gilchrist. Instead of all talking do hard work

They are not going to fail against west indies and when they in CT it wont matter becausw they had a good series against west indies. Win win for the seniors.

How dare a player talk about his idols when specifically questioned about them, how dare he, should be whipped

Not good enough. Extremely limited player

Same was said about Sharjeel.

You lot are happy with TTFs like Hafeez and Kami but are unwilling to give a youngster who is topping the charts even a chance. No wonder our ranking is fluctuating between 8 and 9.

I'm one of the biggest opposers of Hafeez and Akmal. But Fakhar Zaman is not good enough, And I've rated Sharjeel even when he had not made his International Debut. So don't say that to me.

Lot of people here discard the player before him making the debut.

He has been making runs in domestic and deserves the call up to national team. Let him play few games before we making an opinion.

There are lot of cricketers with limited abilities being successful in International cricket.

Exactly, if this "limited player" is the highest averaging opener in domestics then I shudder to think what the other batsmen would be like if they can't even perform like a limited player.

He won't be scoring three consecutive 50s against Australia anytime. Mark it

I'm glad your crystal ball is that specific

Yeah because I've seen him bat and he is strictly average. I don't care about your stats guru but if stats is the case before international debut Sohaib Maqsood averaged 50+ in List A till he was exposed later in International Cricket.

Not good enough

Still wiped the floor with "talented" Umar Akmal in the PSL.

He may or may not be good but writing off a top domestic performer even without giving him a chance is a trait which is common to you PP experts. Your favorites can fail and flounder but they will always remain good enough.

I have my doubts over Fakhar's ability to play pace, but it is always a good starting point to see an upcoming Pakistani batsman idolize a non-Pakistani batsman. The current generation is too young for the likes of Miandad and Zaheer Abbas, and you will go absolutely nowhere if you model your batting on folks like Inzamam, MoYo and Younis Khan.

The Urdu meaning of Fakhar is pride. Just FYI.

I just saw Adam Gilchrist's highlights package in this World Cup where an ex cricketer mentions how Gilchrist was able to use his top hand dominantly and playing all those aggressive shots.

I personally didn't saw much of Gilchrist when he was playing at his peak, nor am I a technical person when it comes to bat gripping and power hitting. But it reminded me of Fakhar Zaman. I searched his name with Gilchrist and found this thread.

Does the way Fakhar bats make sense, since he grew up idolizing Gilchrist? Not only in the aggressive intent but also the sheer dominance mindset - of putting the opposition to bed - and the technical aspect.

Can any knowledgeable veteran shed more light on this topic, specially the technical side?
