"I hope to leave for Pakistan in a few months’ time a transformed and better cricketer" : Mir Hamza

No real zip to his bowling.

No swing, no seam and a fairly gentle pace these days.

Why is he in the team then? Could have selected another spinner or even Mohammad Wasim

The fact that this guy has 400 domestic wickets is startling

I hope I am wrong but looks a solid FC bowler. As I said earlier, he could make all of us look like muppets by taking 3 tomorrow but as a long term prospect, I don't see much

Pakistan should stop trying to right yesterday’s wrongs today.

He may have been unfairly not given chances when he may had more zip (I have no idea if he did), but he clearly doesn’t have much to his bowling anymore so no need for freebie selections.

Nah. Every selector in the past knew that Mir wouldn't be able to survive at test level.

There's a reason it's taken this long to select him and only when we are having to absolutely scrape the barrel in terms of long format fast bowlers.

He looks a good honest trier but at this level, and in these conditions, he isn't an international player. So tomorrow he will pick up 3 wickets

Yeah I think given the apparent lack of even a defensive fast bowler in Pakistan (let alone a wicket-taking one), he has been given a go. Abbas would still have been better in that role but I think they wanted to see if Hamza offers anything different to Abbas (also the pressure from Karachi media lobby was intense).
I don't see him lasting very long in the team. He might take a few wickets in the seamer friendly conditions but his pace is too low to cause any consistent issues for international class batters.

I didn't see him bowl today but the figures suggest that he even struggled to fulfil his role of a holding bowler today.

Given how badly our seamers were smashed in the England tests, they just wanted to include somebody who could bowl with the new ball and then hold an end. Also like I stated above, the pressure from the Karachi media lobby had been mounting to include him in the team, especially after Muhammad Ali failed to make his mark.

I think there is a role for an 83mph medium pacer in an attack of 3 pacers of whom one must bowl at 90mph and another of 85mph. Abbas isnt the answer and nor is Hamza. I know people have short memories but Abbas offered little before he was dropped, and what he offered was with the new ball and after that he was useless.

But we have a habit of picking bowlers either too early or too late in their careers.

Ask yourself a simple question- if Hamza was English who would he be playing for? Leicestershire, Derbyshire? That should tell you all you need to know about his quality

Lets not be quick to judge him on pitches that have made great bowlers look like absolute cannon fodder.

Mark Wood and Naseem Shah have showed there is no space for bowlers like Mir Hamza on these pitches

Not really.

He is a good bowler who swings both ways. If he had the same chances as Naseem Shah, he would have won us something.

Why do our players like to show off there work outs while recovering.

Also why is he doing standing up right rows as quick bowler. Like the g8 mikey holding said quickies should all train very light in the gym not to go into body building mode.

Mir Hamza took 3/37 but his side lost the match.

Mir Hamza has bowled beautifully so far in his opening PSL spell, getting the wicket of Rizwan with a fall swinging in.
