He is just under pressure that's all. Need a safe place and a good captain like Afridi.

Innings - 3; Ave - 25; SR - 66.96



And here are his numbers in the T20 series -

Innings - 4; Ave - 21; SR - 112


Is he really a specialist batsman?
 
Shehzad is not suitable for LOIs. He should be selected for tests only where he can consume as many deliveries as he likes and can hit the odd boundary for a living.
 
He's no Sachin but he values his wicket and has a decent amount of shots. Hope he gets back on track so we can finally see the end of Kamran and Hafeez. Need to find an aggressive opener to partner him at the top.

Seriously bro, why not look for a younger talent than Shehzad? So far he has practically done nothing in the grand scheme of things. What's the point in wasting your time by expecting him to do something in the future that he hasn't been able to do so far?

Shehzad is as bad as they come and unfortunately, from the looks of it, he hasn't even TRIED to improve his game. God. That strike rate in the 60's makes players from the 1970's look like Chris Gayle and Sehwag.
 
There were many more talented than Sachin IMO

He's only 22-24 so he's pretty young. Plus, there has been a good amount of investment in him and just discarding him like that would be a waste.

Statements like this one by Razzaq is the reason he's gotten too big-headed to work on his flaws. Otherwise, he has had some good innings such as the century in South Africa and I think he has one in New Zealand too.

Plus, we don't have any better openers apparently, after Sharjeel was caught fixing so until we find a couple, Shehzad should be given time to put all doubts to rest. He either sinks or swims from here on out.
 
He's 25 which is very young for a batsman. This is why I think he should be given the time he needs (to a reasonable degree) to fulfill his potential:



Also averages a very good 43 in test cricket.
 
What a ignorant comment by Razzaq. Sachin is the best batsman in the history of the game where as Shehzad is a nobody. If he was so talented would be scoring centuries for fun by now like Sachin did.

And a mighty average of 25 away from home and he hasn't even stepped out of Asia. :)))
 
I really feel sad for people who wanted him to return, claiming he has "earned" his recall..

Pathetic.

You don't earn a recall if you score in domestic/PSL with the SAME issues.

You look at how the runs are scored and compare with his previous flaws.

Selectors are not there to run spreadsheet queries, they are supposed to judge the quality of a player too and his technique.

yes thats why selectors exist

otherwise we can make all selections via cricinfo scorecards if just number of runs is the criterion
 
With his desperately average stats atm, just imagine his stats without the talent that is greater than Sachins.
 
i was a big shahzad fan but this is stupid n crap... shahzad is probably not even the best batsmen in any PSL league, department, domestic t20 team he plays, let alone any international player , let alone any GOAT player.. just makes me laugh

in fairness, Shehzad was a reasonable opener with 6 centuries in 50 matches or so

its only in the last 3 years that he's become the tail-ender that he currently is

Ahh some real gems in this thread.. Page 1 - A guy said Sachin should not be compared to Shehzad but he should be compared to Umar Akmal..

Whenever you are feeling low this is the thread to visit.. When Razzaq comes on a TV show next can someone call him up and remind him of his quote? Then ask what talent is in his book?

Dono becharako sor do.Abdul Razzaq has already digested this speech,Shehzad knows very well where he belongs as a batsman,so does we the cricket fans.Only the selectors don't know,that's why he is selected again and again with a belief that now he will deliver.But he never can deliver.
