"I wouldn't have picked Usman Khawaja" : Mohsin Khan

No offence but Mohsin Khan is the most annoying ex cricketer ever and that is saying something considering the superstars we have in that department of annoying ex cricketers.

I have never seen him talk once without mentioning 3-0 over England in which he had little contribution in my book

Agree, very very annoying.

we often overrate the heck out of Pakistanis who play on other teams. Hell remember Sikandar Raza and the millions of threads "Would sikandar raza walk right into the Pakistan team" and "Raza is a better batsman than Malik". I don't understand this obsession.

So what if Mohsin said that? Usman Khawaja has been around for a while and all he has got to his name are 10 test matches where he averages 35. He's finally picking it up it seems, good for him. You don't have to overrate the heck out of him. What's next? Usman Khawaja >>>> Misbah ul Haq?

Khawaja will be a bunny when he comes to India/England/UAE.

has been reverse sweeping Pak spinners without fear!

Khawaja is better than any Pakistan batsman from this XI including Azhar Ali.

Sums up Mohsin Khan's eye for talent.

Unfair to hold Mohsin Khan on this 5 years later. Usman is an altogether different batsman today than he was 5 years ago when Mohsin issued that statement.

Plus the fact that Usman trained under an Australian setup that evolved his game even more. Had he started playing for Pakistan, he would've regressed in these 5 years playing Pakistani domestic.

Usman was terrible in 2013 so the statement isn't that ridiculous when looked from the lens of 2013.

I remember speaking with Mohsin about Khawaja when he was chief selector.

The discussion was a lengthy one and one that addressed Usman's pros and cons as a batsman.

In fact at the time I suggested to Mohsin to cheekily try and get Usman to play for Pakistan ahead of Australia.

However Mohsin was not convinced and came up with a number of theories on why he felt Usman wasn't a convincing batsman and one who would have made it into the Pakistan Test team.

Hypothetical scenario of course now, but do you think that Usman would have/is good enough to have got into the Pakistan Test team?

as usual stupid and ignorant comments from mohsin

Khawaja's weakness against spin would've counted against him had he played for Pakistan given we play so much cricket in Asia.

However recently he has been excellent.

I would take him anyday over a lot of our players. This shows how clueless mohsin was/is.

Fantastic to see yet another Muslim cricketer become a star for his team. Amla, Ali, Khawaja and Raza are all trail-blazers.

Also, it seems that almost every team has a cricketer with Pakistani roots. In addition to the above, we have Tahir, Patel, and a couple of Afghanis.

Done enough to get into the World Cup squad. Didn’t think he was a fit for LO but he has proven me wrong.
