Azhar out, Haris in.

I will stick with Hafeez because we will need his bowling. We need all of our economical bowlers against England.
 
Shadab for Fahim.

Haris Sohail for Hafeez (won't happen :facepalm:).

I'd say drop Azhar but that might lead to a lot of unnecessary shuffling.
 
Pakistan need to get off to a good start. I would drop both Azhar and Hafeez.

batting is really struggling yet we have made it to semis, wow. Need to change the batting bringing in Haris.
 
DON'T BOWL FIRST - it's possible to defend 170 against that Pom batting line-up, impossible to chase 170 for this PAK batting line up.

- Shadab in Fahim out.
- Azhar out, Haris in

MoHa should be retained if he isn't called by ICC in between these 3 days - ENG has 3 Lefti at 4, 5 & 6/7.

Good lineup except for Imad who looks outbof sorts.
 
Should play shadab for Imad. Hafeez must go, but don't see that happening.
 
If we can somehow pull it off, it will be our greatest achievement since beating Australia in Australia in 2002.
 
Hafeez and Azhar out. Harris and Shadab in. Won't happen though. Reckon they're going to stick with the same combination because we scraped through against SL.

is my line-up. I think, Imad will trouble Poms on this track. Playing Shadab has both sides - for that Imad has to play. If he goes for runs, Imad is the cover.
 
How effective will be Shahdab against the English batsmen? I want him in, but it seems that Imad also bowls fine to the non Asian teams.

What about the pitch where match is going to be played?
 
At this moment we can't drop Muhammad Hafeez to be very honest.. It's better to drop Azhar Ali and Bring Haris at no. 4

It will be the same surface as today. It was prepared for the two remaining matches. I can see it offering a little spin now it''s 95 over old.

Tough call to bring in Shadab as pacers do well in Cardiff and Fahim did ok.

No point bringing in Haris in a semi.

Stick with the same team, maybe drop Imad for Shadab.

Pak will need to bat much much better to have any chance. I'd say, they should bat first and set near 300! Because bowling first England will definitely get near 300 or more. Then, as you know your abilities with chasing is limited.

My Eng XI, would be two change. Ball is too expensive, Roy has to go. Bairstow and Finn comes in, for me.

Why is anyone saying to drop Fahim? He bowled well, got wickets, and batting wise had a stupid runout but actually looked fairly comfortable at the crease.

I am so freaking angry Pakistan didn't take the chance to play Haris for Hafeez today. He had already failed spectacularly. Now it would be completely unfair to throw Haris into a semifinal in the first match of the tournament after not playing for so long - and still expect him to perform.

Having said that, could Haris bat any WORSE than Hafeez?

It won't happen, but Azhar has to go. I've seen the defense of him that he plays slow as an anchor, but he is INCAPABLE of turning those starts up a notch. He will plod along at a 50 SR regardless of his score and then get out cheaply. He can't accelerate and he can't stay at the crease by releasing pressure with singles like a Sarfraz, who can rotate the strike.
 
We need Shadab against England!!!

I honestly believe Shadab can cause some ripples in the English line up considering they historically struggle against spin.

What do you guys think?
 
We can't chase anything over 250 to save our lives. Targets of 220-240 are Pakistan's upper limit. Hence, if England bat first, they're going to post a massive total. And if we bat first, England will chase anything we set.

2 main issues with our batting as of now. The first is Sarfraz not playing at number 4. Sarfraz simply HAS to bat there, whether Hafeez is in the team or not.

Second issue is Hafeez. He's like that piece of gum that gets stuck on the sole of your foot, and is very hard to get rid of. Hafeez being in the team and batting at 4 is causing all sorts of problems for our batting order. I don't care whether he can provide you with a few economical overs. What he does while batting negates any positives from his bowling. We have to replace him with Harris, who can chip in with a few overs along with Malik. Our bowling would be okay even without Hafeez's contribution.

One can make the case for Azhar being dropped, but unless we ask Babar to open alongside Fakhar, I really don't see any other options. Please don't say Sarfraz because his best utilization is during the middle overs batting at 4. Asking Hafeez to open is another sure shot failure. Hence, I'll stick with Azhar for the next match.

Really impressed with Fahim Ashraf. This lad is raw but showed enough to merit a place. Bowls at decent clicks and looked like a proper batsman who can hit big, and isnt simply a slogger.

I'd drop Hafeez and Azhar and bring in Shadab and Haris. Babar can be pushed up to open. Fahim slots in at 6. Imad and Shadab at 7 and 8.

Imad should have been out today. Against any non-asian side, he should play. He has a good record against England and i back him to do well against them. Azhar and hafeez need to be dropped for shadab and haris sohail.

Ball was absolutely superb on this ground against New Zealand.

Shadab would have to come in for Hafeez, and Azhar needs to be Dropped for Haris Sohail. This give you some sort of chance agaisnt a strong england side

i dont think so imad will do any good against them so my preference is shadab

That line up has Shadab coming in at six- surely that is at least one batsman light?

As much as I don't want Hafeez and Azhar to play, given the lack of other batting options within the squad do you not think at least one of them will have to play?
 
Personally, Shadab has to come in for Hafeez but I bet there won't be any changes. No way they are dropping Hafeez and going in with 4 specialist batsmen at appearances.

Not sure this will work. Imad's recent form has been a worry and given their inexperience, you are expecting too much from Fahim and Shadab- especially given the pressures of a semi-final.

Pakistan struggled to score 237 against an attack that is fairly good. It could be increasingly difficult against a very good england attack. I see a one sided match with england winning big.

Yeah they were saying the same thing before the SA match as well. We will see.

Also I really doubt Fakhar Zaman will have the same high level of success. England will have a smart, capable strategy for him. You can't count on him to give you a flier of a start, so who picks up that slack?
 
I think we all know that both Azhar and Hafeez will play (and fail) versus England.

We will pull it off and to make matters worse we will go on to finally beat india in a big icc ko game.

You then can call it a fluke while we alll will enjoy.

England are going to barrage Zaman with short-pitched stuff. I hope he is up for it.

imad has done well vs england
we will need fahim batting but shadab can be match winner in this game
 
will be the biggest of biggest moment in Pakistan cricket if pakistan manges to win this trophy
 
Don't think Azhar and Hafeez will be dropped.

In ideal world - I would drop Azhar and Hafeez/Imad and bring in Shadab & Harris.

As much as I would love to see Hafeez dropped, he isn't going anywhere. England team has plenty of left handed batsmen, so team management will think Hafeez the bowler will be required.
 
I question the cricketing knowledge of some folks who always insist on Ahmed Shahzad. The guy has NO shots. No cover drive, no on drive, no pull shot.

Only change I will see is Shadab coming in for Fahim, which is a bad change, Shadab should come in for Immad not Fahim. Fahim is better batsman then Immad.

Other than that, only possible change would be Sarfraz bat at #4, even that seems more taxing to 30 mgmt officials we have on the ground, then what we experience through this run chase as a team and nation, AKA switch batting order of Hafeez and Sarfraz :facepalm:

Malik can bowl 5-6 economical overs too like Hafeez
 
I say bring in Haris for Azhar and play this lineup:

azhar has to be dropped.

Play Azam as an opener and bring in Haris at 3, with Sarfraz at 4.

Hafeez down to no. 6 or they could even think about playing Shehzad there.

Both of those guys are selfish, but have the ability to hit cleanly and the only way to lessen their selfish approach would be to play them at 6 and play as finishers, plus they can tuk tuk if wkts do fall in a hurry like today.

We need batting of Fahim and bowling of Shadab, play both and drop Immad. Fahim is notch above Immad/Shadab in batting. We don't afford to drop Shadab, only bowler who actually spins the ball and can take wickets in middle over...

For get about Azhar and Hafeez dropping, they will play. Only need of hour is switching batting order of Sarfraz and Hafeez.
