Chasing 322 with just 3 wickets down is nothing short of ridiculous. Impressive job SL.

Angelo Mathews is one of the best players in the world and there's no doubt about it but he's extremely fragile and mostly injured. And while Mendis is extremely talented and the brightest prospect in Sri Lanka, he is like Babar Azam. There's no doubt in the fact that Azam will probably end up as a better batsman, but as of now, Malik is the better player and similarly, I rate Gunaratne higher as of now.

He's played some crucial knocks and hit a brilliant century not so long ago while also maintaining consistency in other innings.
 
It might happen that IND-PAK misses out, SRL-BD makes the SF ................
 
With this loss we Missed the chance of watching Pak fans supporting India against S Africa😂
 
Sri Lanka taught Pak how to go around chasing a score above 300. There has to be a plan in place that the Si Lankan boys had that is a good solid start setting a strong foundation. About a hundred runs in the first 20 over at the expense of losing around two wickets or less should be the target. It was a brilliant chase and a lesson in how to do it. India struggled today or perhaps they thought only they could get over 300 with other teams not knowing how to bat. Great to see the smile wiped of Kohli's face in the end that made my day. Now it's effectively two semi final's, out of the three I much prefer facing Sri Lanka to India and particular RSA. .

India dented Bangladesh's confidence by dismissing them for 85 then Pakistan couldn't even score 200, but in CT Sri Lanka have chased down the target with ease against Defending Champions that too infront of a pack Indian support which many can't do.

Sehwag - Bangladesh Pota, Pakistan Beta, Srilanka ?
 
Congratulations to Sri Lankan fans.A fantastic win.They have given India the taste of their own.Virat kohli and co are habituated of chasing 320 plus,but not being chased down by their subcontinent counterpart.

Capability & willingness as well - do you think PAK can chase 300+ against any decent team with Azhar, Shehzad & MoHa in top 4? Even against UAE, these 3 MoHa will take the opportunity to score a hundred & take the asking to 100+ in last 10 overs.

I think once in a blue moon Pak may be successful in chasing over 300 against a decent side. W must have the will but the batsman don't have the technique.
 
Congrats to SL, I didn't expect you guys to win a single game at all. You lot showed Pak fans like me especially how to go about chasing a modern ODI total with a modern approach. Hopefully we'll be able to do the same in the future. Final group game against SL is going to be interesting.

I think opposite - players like MoHa & Ahmed has much better capacity than these show. They don't take any risk for the sake of team. Yesterday, Babar was genuinely struggling until he settled, but that I can't say about MoHa. With age, his stroking range has gone down, for that he needs to be more aggressive, which he'll never risk. Yesterday, had that edged 4 landed at slip, he would have returned with 6 (23) or so score - that's pure selfishness. On same wicket, see what Malik did - it's not only about capability. MoHa is quite capable of that Fakhar sort of innings 23 of 18.
 
Will is the desire the get the runs that they must have otherwise shouldn't be playing for the country. Technique is where they are lacking with the inability to take singles and two's. The main culprit for me is Azhar who really ate this moment is offering nothing to the side. I would much rather he scored a quick 50 in ten overs then a century in 40.

they were developing under Dravid's supervision. from the look of it Sanju might ended as a specialist (top order) bat!
 
BTW I heard Lanka win by 7 wicket. Cricbuzz app stuck on 91 and BSNL network not helping me either.

One of the best chases you'll see. Such fantastic batting, and no hint of playing for yourself, but doing it for the side.
 
Sri Lanka never let us back in to the game after 7th or 8th over. They played pace easily and I didn't see them struggle at anything. Looked like Sri Lanka was batting against a minnow bowling, effortless single after single and a boundary to finish the over. 2 of the wickets were run-outs and that makes the loss even worse. Everyone apart from Yuvi and Kohli batted well and can't blame anyone particularly. I do feel that Kohli could have brought fielders closer and attacked to put more pressure but give credit to the lankans.
 
"Pray for rain" is what a few, heartbroken Indian fans told me in this thread. :)))
 
Good win and a great chase but a win here and there doesn't count for much really. Not sure how the side is actually meant to improve employing the same stupid ploys and picking the same TTFs and over the hill players. Good thing that UT and Kapu are out so that's a plus but still going in with 3 frontline bowlers and no proper spinner. I mean seriously how difficult is it to pick your 3 best quicks, the best spinner and a decent bowling all-rounder. Also disappointing to see Kusal Perera hobble off probably out for another couple of months just when he was starting to find his feet again but hopefully the selectors use their noggins for once and call up Malinda Pushpakumara as the replacement. Sets up the tourney nicely now pretty much must win games for all teams going forward.
 
Bit late but congrats to SL fans. They ruthlessly exploited the weak links in our bowling given the conditions. Gunthilaka is a terrific ODI prospect. Completely took Team india by surprise.
