Today, it’s proven yet again that if Pak bats first, probably

150 is not enough
155 is not enough
160 is not enough
165 is not enough
170 is not enough
175 is not enough
180 is not enough
185 takes you to the border line
190 makes you step over the line
195 takes you into the green zone

And with the current batting line and with the current batting strategy, that is, to choke the powerplay n score 50 runs in the last 5 overs won’t work - and even if it does, it won’t take you to 190+

Need to reinforce the batting line by bringing in Haider and/or Nawaz to increase our chances of scoring big if we are to bat first

Depends on the bowling but I think 135 takes you to the border line and 170 should be more than enough. It took some incredible batting by NZ to chase 167 -and the English death bowling isn't as good as the remaining 3 teams.

Any update on Malik and Rizwan illness, and whether they are good to play?

Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan and all-rounder Shoaib Malik's health improved
Both players are feeling much better
The medical panel will review both players in the afternoon (UAE time)
After the inspection, the PCB will inform the media about the details

I don’t know why people are bringing up 2010 T20 semi final. Yes it was a knockout but it was a once in a lifetime innings for Michael hussey and it was Afridis captaincy error for giving ajmal an offspinner the 20th over with the wind and short boundary on the leg side. Amir bowled the 19th towards husseys longer side and Razzaq had a few overs left so things could have been different had he shuffled the bowlers accordingly but hussey was a beast that day.

It’s been almost 11 years and the whole team has changed. Only Hafeez, Smith and Warner are the players remaining from that 22 so things are completely different now and Pakistan are beasts in the UAE. Given their current form and the way they played in the knock outs vs 2 favourites Pakistan has the edge.

Pakistan lead aus Head to head in uae in all formats and even in T20 world cups it’s 3-3. Australia has been patchy and was lucky to make it over South Africa. Pakistan need to make the most of it and perform when it matters most. All the best to Babar and the boys.

Did you notice your ace bowler, Shaheen was able to take just ONE wicket in TWO games against meager teams like Nam and Scotland when he had to bowl in dew?
This is how the dew kills the potency of bowlers.

What are you thumping your chest about?

The post you were replying to mentioned 175 as a winning total if Pak bats first. I agree with that. I'll absolutely take that over chasing 150-170 against Australia.

Afridi bowled fine against Scotland in the second innings. If he bowls to that level, 175 becomes even harder for Australia, given the rest of the bowling resources Pakistan has.

Go Pakistan!!

Good luck to pakistan fans for the semi final. Hope you guys beat Australia .
I'm picking a close Pakistan win.

Whether Malik and Rizwan are fit to play is irrelevant. Pakistan have no chance today against the mighty Australia.

I wouldn't call them mighty but yes they're strong and comeback as a team on right time. Hopefully we can get two quick wickets upfront of warner and Smith and put pressure on them.

This world cup is disappointing. Win the toss field first win the game. Done. So who will win todays game will be decided at 7 pm IST.
