Pakistan U19 will take on Scotland U19 in their second Group ‘C’ match of the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup at the Takashinga Sports Club in Harare on Monday. The first ball of the match will be bowled at 9.30am local time, with the toss taking place at 9am.
The match will be broadcast live on PTV Sports and Geo Super in Pakistan, while it will be live-streamed on Myco, Tamasha, ARY ZAP and Tapmad across the country.
Pakistan, who recently won the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup in Dubai and the tri-series in Zimbabwe, did not have the best of starts as they lost to England by 37 runs in their first group fixture at the Takashinga Sports Club in Harare on Friday. For Pakistan, captain Farhan Yousaf scored 65, while Ahmed Hussain bagged three wickets.
On a head-to-head basis, Pakistan and Scotland have featured in three matches – all at the ICC U19 World Cup with Pakistan emerging victorious on each occasion. The two sides last met during the ICC U19 World Cup 2020 in South Africa, where Pakistan defeated Scotland by seven wickets.
Earlier today, Pakistan squad took part in a training session at Old Hararians, where they underwent fielding drills and net sessions under the coaching staff led by Shahid Anwar.
Bowling coach Rao Iftikhar Anjum, while talking to PCB Digital ahead of the second match said:
“The previous match result was disappointing for us because we had prepared extensively for the World Cup over the last six months and had been performing well in the Asia Cup and the tri-series.
“The players and coaches had a productive meeting yesterday and we have prepared well for tomorrow’s match. We are hopeful of delivering strong performances and our mindset remains positive.
“We conceded around 200 runs and while the bowling was not poor overall, we have discussed areas where we can improve and have planned accordingly.
“The players are mentally strong and very positive. While they were disappointed with the previous result, they understand that such things happen in cricket. The key is how you bounce back and the players are ready for that.”
15-member squad:
Farhan Yousaf (captain), Usman Khan (vice-captain), Abdul Subhan, Ahmed Hussain, Ali Hasan Baloch, Ali Raza, Daniyal Ali Khan, Hamza Zahoor (wk), Huzaifa Ahsan, Momin Qamar, Mohammad Sayyam, Mohammad Shayan (wk), Niqab Shafiq, Sameer Minhas and Umar Zaib
