Nice team combination, but it's too early to say. I am waiting for Pakistan to announce the team, then I will give you my combination.

1) QDQ
2) Butler
3) Marsh
4) SKY
5) Maxwell
6) Klaasen
7) Hardik
8) Rashid Khan
9) Cummins
10) Kuldeep
11) Bumrah

What do you recon @mominsaigol
Excellent.

The reason I didn't add butler and qdk was because Butler's form in 202e didn't instill confidence but based of 2024 I will change.

As for QDK, I wanted him but he's such a liability while chasing. And Hardick wasn't included due to poor IPL form.

But your list is what I'd choose if everyone was at peak form. And hopefully you're proven right.

The end team will be massively different from what we choose now obviously.

But I wanted to make this thread early cause we're in wc season and England tour is coming up, so might add some England players on the list early.

Actually, bro I think your team is probably better then mine, it has more bowling options. Although I think my batters at better.

I picked 4 banker bowlers:

Bumrah
Rashid Khan
Cummins
Kuldeep

Hardik is my 3rd seamer (based on conditions) and Maxwell 3rd spinner (conditions)

Klaasen is the balance/key at 6. He is my best player.

I wanted to pick Will Jacks at 3, but maybe too early for him as he hasn’t yet set International cricket alight. But he will soon.

We'll see how will jacks will do on this tour, he's been brilliant outside of International atm.

Whatever team we pick will be the team of the tournament for me.

This will be my team atm. No sure how many of these names will be there when the tournament finishes.

1) Travis Head
2) Finn Allen
3) Babar Azam
4) Surya Kumar
5) Glenn Maxwell
6) Tim David
7) Josh Inglis (WK)
8) Kuldeep Yadav

The way maxwell is playing in IPL, i dont think he is gonna fire in this WC, in place of kuldeep i will pick rashid khan and wicketkeeper batter Henrich Klassen.

Already? Let us wait :)
I think theirs no harm to make predictions early. Its more fun that way.

After the tournament ends it kinda becomes obvious and not much discussion ti be had. Well beyond the obvious rizwan fans wanting to put rizwan in the team 😂

Shamar Joseph, Bumrah, Head, Klassen, Cummins, Mitch Marsh, Azam Khan(CPL Version), Phil Salt and Butler

Surprised to see that @Rana and @mominsaigol haven’t added the great clutch match winners Amir and Imad to their teams of the tournament.

So much propaganda and hype of their returns but their own fans don’t think they have the chops to make an impact in the tournament.

Their fans have bottled it. Now it remains to be seen if these two bang average cricketers bottle it themselves or not.
Let’s see your clutch team with Babar as captain and Darren Sammy as head coach, and then how everyone reacts to it.

How can you put Babar at 3 when he doesn’t want this responsibility? That’s being disingenuous

Makram is a better no 3 then babar if you're batting first.

If chasing kohli is better or you could honestly choose anyone Makeshift, be it butler, Phil Salt, Klaseen, pandya, anyone really.

My point is @BouncerGuy is right for wanting Babar at 3 but Babar the selfish coward wants to open as if he is Rohit Sharma’s level.

The team he put out is flawed straight away when you are playing a guy in a position you know he will not play in. It’s like me making a team with Fakhar Zaman batting at 7 because I think he is good at hitting the back end bowlers

Yes, but my point is, Babar even at no 3 isn't rhe best no 3 to be considered TEAM OF THE TOURNAMENT.

Maybe if Babar does well in the world cup, you could consider him a candidate bit even his peak performance in Jan earlier this year doesn't warrant team of the tournament.

The team of the tournament that I envisioned and I'm assuming you envisioned as well considering I saw the team you posted,

Is a team capable of getting 200+, Has 7 match winners and a gun bowling unit.

Babar wouldn't fit in that vision.

Not just Babar, his fans will argue and try to convince you Babar is better suited to open and Fin Allen should bat at 3
Finn Allen only has an avg of 25, he is not suited to open.

Babar's 41 avg is what we need. We can't be 1 down in the PP bro.

Perfect logic. Better safe than sorry bro
Finn Allen would be a no 5 bro.

1) Babar
2) Rizwan (WK) (Sorry conway/ Philips)
3) Williamson
4) Rachin Ravindra
5) Finn Allen
6) Darly mitchell
7) Chapman

^^ alas the babar azam formula.

Of course. Name me two players more worthy of opening? Give me names!!

Bro Bobby fans have lost their minds.

Literally idk if you saw the conversation but their was one poster saying, that babar and rizwan aren't at fault and that their batting is great its the team that's letting them down.

If babar and rizwan opened for Australia it wouldn't have been a problem as someone like Warner, Head and maxwell can come in and attack after the platform is set.

And I was like, bro? Why wouldn't they just have Warner and head open? Why would those 2 slot down?

1. Travis Head
2. Jos Buttler (WK) (C)

6. Rovman Powell
7. Andre Russell / Moeen Ali (Depending on Conditions)
8. Rashid Khan
9. Shaheen Afridi
10. Jasprit Bumrah

I wouldn't put kohli or any South African bat on the list.

Kohli has been a certified chocker in t20 tournaments dueing knockout stages, his England innings was pathetic. Plus if batting first, he's useless, he's only good for chasing in t20.

And South African bats are beyond useless when it comes to chasing, klaseen can be a gun no 5 if batting first, but you're playing with one less batsmen if you're chasing.

I wouldn't out afridi either due to his form atm. Their better bowlers then him currently.

There is no place of kohli instead add Surya

This is totally wrong, look up his performances against SA in the 2014 wc semis and WI in the 2016 semis, and he was the only decent Indian batsman in the 2014 finals.

He has a great record in T20 knockouts, the 2022 performance against England is the only blemish on his record

Okay then can you please tell me why deapite having wickets in hand.

Kohli decided to go at 132 sr throughout the entire innings and make 77 clogging the entire innings with a useless stat pad score, Causing India to only reach 130+ score and having Sri lanka win as if the final was a walk on the park?

By this logic KL rahul's innings in wc final was a goat innings? Because he scored 65?

Context Is very important bro.

Kohli made 77 of 58 and the rest of the team made 47 of 62, which is beyond terrible.

If you read my post again, I said his innings in the final was a decent knock and not a great one, it was his knocks against SA in 2014 and WI in 2016 which were great

WI is an outlier.

SA is a semi final, not a final.

Are semis not considered knockouts?

Kohli has only played 1 t20 final
So he's played 1 t20 final and how many semi finals? 3? He chocked in one of them against england correct?

So that's 2 chockes and 2 genuine performances. So overall 50% success rate?

Always a fun kind of thread this.

Gurbaz
Fin Allen
Mitch Marsh
Daryl Mitchell
Glenn Philipps
Miller
Andre Russel
Adil Rashid
Zampa
Bumrah
Hazlewood

I do think spinners will play a big part in the World Cup and having Rashid and Zampa bowling through the middle overs is my kind of team. Philips and Miller also make one of the most dependable and power-hitting lower order. I am looking forward to seeing each and every one of these players perform in the World Cup. Exciting times

What makes him an anchor though at number 3?
The reliability and consistency to play the role of a focal point upon which the rest of the team can revolve. Also when needed to shift gears and see the team through the line when the finish line looks within reach.

Despite their tag of chokers, I believe quite a few South Africans will be part of team.

Hmm yep.

Batting first with the bowling options they have, along with the fielding unit they are, they should do.
Problem is they might ot make it in the team of the tournament.

Their a liability while chasing

I will pick Marsh in place of Jansen.
Marsh isn't really a no.7 batter and can't provide 4 overs regularly. Putting him at 3 would push others a tad lower for an inning lasting 20 overs. You need the likes of Maxwell, SKY and Pooran/Phillips/Klassen facing more deliveries which is why I picked Jansen instead. And overs of specialist bowlers would decrease that way. Maxwell is the part timer who can come in if needed for an over or 2.

true though!

But replacing Jansen means that I just want to bring in an all-rounder like Marsh, who can easily bowl 3 to 4 overs and be flexible with the batting position as well.

The way he plays I m sure he would be equally dangerous in the number 7 position too.

He takes some time to get going.
But these are just personal opinions. Anyone can choose who he wants to.

Marsh is better than Jansen when it comes to batting poweress. Marsh was in some form in t20s recently.

Hoping finn Allen gets added here once NZ vs Afg match is over

Gonna bump this thread as we're closer to the end of the cup now

Actually probs replace quinton with salt, Salt more inform

"ruko zara... sabar kero"

we still have too many games :p
Fair but so far this is the team mid way.

Pooran has been the best no 3 of the tournament and butler and salt have been the best openers with sky being the best no 4.

Stoinis failed yesterday but he's clearly the best no 5 with pandya and rashid being on fire at 6 and 7.

Zampa has been the best spinner and Cummings has been the best MO bowler with and arshdeep as the best new ball and death over bowlers. With Bumrah being the best irrespective of where he's bowling

looks like a very good team but instead of Arshdeep i will add Jofra Archer into the 11 because he can give u a bit if edge due to his batting.

So far Arshdeep has been the 2nd highest wicket taker only behind Farooqi, but ik farooqi will bowl pies if he feels pressure as Afghanistan just switch off when a side decides to hammer them, They lose the plot rather then keeping their nerve

TBH arshdeep is also not consistent with his lengths... can leak too many runs specially where ball doesnt get any seam or swing... so i think he would a risky pick.

England pacers have been dreadful against any competent batting line up like West Indies and Australia. They've only been good at tearing Minnows a new one.

West Indies have been the same as england.

SA pacers lose the plot with their 5 full tosses and Afghanistani pacers are the same.

NZ is out of it, Pakistan haha, and Hazlewood and Stark have been medicore this tournament and we haven't yet seen Cameron Green. And ashton Agar is a defensive bowler not an attacking.

So who's been better then arshdeep as a new ball bowler this tournament besides Bumrah.

What is Arshdeep doing here. Remove him and add farooqi .
Farooqi - 6 match ,15 wickets,6.2 economy

Sky hasn’t done anything special yet to be in there, I’ll drop him and replace him with Gurbaz and Buttler one down. Also, we can add Miller as the finisher.
