This pair is required to stick around and minimize the risks. Nissanka just can't stop though from taking risks. Let's see if his risks define Lankas fate.

Maxwell brilliant stopped a 4.. !! usually things like this become turning point for Australia. Let us see how it unfolds. SL is also an unpredictable side. Quality batsmen. But always resorts to crap shot selection at crunch times.
 
Nissanka's pull shots are awesome to watch. I remember he smashed starc in SCG or MCG whacked for six with such a pull shot
 
Beautiful job done Nisanka...Min risks taken - less concentration on 6s and more on gaps looking for 4s. That is how T20 should be played!

The real test is after the PP when the choke is on.. SL still behind in this, will need someone to play a blinder here for SL .SL have never successfully chased a 180 target in T20Is at home, losing all 5 attempts , so its still a tough ask.
 
Stoinis is your 5th or 6th bowler at best. Connolly is 5th bowler at best. These guys bowl inside power play. Australia rejigged thier line up recently to elongate batting depth. But quality of bowling is not the same as you see with Josh, Starc.

yes . They are also known for brain explosions. lol That is why i am not confident these guys will pull it off. But if Nissanka has a day out game over for them. He doesn't stop.
 
LIttle targets like under 100, under 75, under 50 is the way to go for them. Any risky shot can trigger a collapse
 
Mendis may play a frustrated shot. On the contrary, played a smart shot fir 4
 
You have to bowl fairly full to srilankans. These guys are short. Back of length balls are easy meat
 
This is some ultra trash bowling . TOo many short balls then outside the leg stump. SL is making full use of it.
 
SL is one wicket away from imploding.. They cant lose a heap of wickets before the 15th over..

Yeah , I had mentioned that before. Batting is solid but bowling is very inexperienced and not the same pedigree as before..But its still 90 of 60 balls. So SL have to bat out of their skins here even from here.. And Aus fielding will be turning it a notch here.. So, should be a cracker of a game !! (y)
 
The best thing about this innings is pure batting instead of slogging - fantastic chase!
 
Against this bowling SL has to gift their wickets which is what i expected. More than the skill of Aussies, i expected Australia win due to Srilanank's suicidal game awareness.

Even after they loose today, they have outside chance of making in super -8 stages.

For that Ireland and Zimbabwe need to win their match against Zimbabwe.

Australia NNR is good and they still have a game against Oman ( last match) so they can increase the NRR further.

Your statement was that this side is better than 90% of the teams. Do you know how to calculate percentage? What scale was used to come up with that number?

Again , yes its a T20. And this game is not over yet. Yes this side is better overall and doesnt mean they will win "every" game . And if they enter Super 8s , can guarantee you they will be a beast of a team..
 
Its getting tight for SL, the RRR can balloon up with just 1 or 2 tight overs.. Will not be easy for the newer batters comin in

Hes good for ODIs but has regressed in T20s a lot. Even in the MLC he was struggling at a run a ball and a couple of innings he hit some big shots ta the end end after the game was effictively over. Very klrahul like in T20s.. Timid mindset
