ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Super 8 clash between Pakistan and New Zealand abandoned without a ball being bowled

I will write a letter to ICC later today to ensure that all Pakistan matches in future tournaments including India as a host must be played in venues like Mohali, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore etc where we can dish out great hospitality and great batting pitches for Pakistan games and also our weather is so much better and not so sadistic as in Sri Lanka right now bro.

It’s t20 one win a few washouts , Pak win semi anything is possible but Pak is a mid team now . Fans should enjoy a full match win or lose
 
Pakistan has fraternal ties with India and must not hold a grudge for future India hosted tournaments like 2029 and 2031.

You must play at your ancestors country bro.

Disappointed we beat NZ most of the time in ICC tournament

Against England we are yet to win match against them in t20 WC
 
Just got back from Tarawih and its still raining. I think Pakistan would have a better chance against NZ in a full game. In rain shortened matches will suit NZ more because pakistan lack six hitters. Probably only Farhan can hit big. Fakhar never did anything to note in T20s. Babar is wastage of spot in T20. Rest all are hit and miss. That said Pakistan are still capable of beating SL and England due to its superior spin attack and Srilankan pitches.
 
In the 2025 Women's World Cup that happened in India and Sri Lanka - a total of 6 - yes - you read that right - 6 matches got completely washed out. The most affected teams were Pakistan and co-hosts Sri Lanka themselves. Even other teams got affected who played these 2 teams. It was so frustrating that in peak monsoon season in SL - matches were scheduled. The whole Sri Lanka leg unfortunately thus became a farce.

looks like pakistan will get out of jail against the group's strongest team
dissapointing as fans want to see a contest but good for the group situation at least

Because it is not some random Ramzan or Dussera night tournament. There are logistics, security protocols, crowd management, broadcaster management etc are all involved and timing is looked at very strictly.
 
sky were showing replays of some older t20 wc england matches
their big chase against SA in 2016, also their tournament win in 2010
 
Rain has significantly reduced, but this drizzle is still a problem. Although ICC have changed the cancellation time to 10:30PM local.

I think we will get a shorter match, especially if rain stops now.

Given that rain is an issue in cricket and messes up tournaments - the match should continue offline if the broadcasters time slots run out

Not just broadcasters, you want security and other logistical officials to do extra duty for a cricket match? It is what it is. Best available option is reserve days.

Usually these kind of quadrat ka nizams go in Pak’s favor, let’s see. On logic this should have been a win for Nzl on current form. Maybe a blessing in disguise 🙏

Yes pay them overtime and factor it into the budget when playing in countries with high precipitation. This is a tournament with stakes. Treat it like one.

We have all been saved from the massacre, no genocide, that Babar Azam would have inflicted on NZ players and their emotions.
