As a batsmen Root should replace kohli.But due kohli's captaincy he is in the team.Kohli was horrible with bat against Australia which was one of the greatest series in recent years.
Also,Lyon outbowled Ashwin in india.

Icc probably wouldn't select these players as they judge them mostly by stats.But,i think my 11 is more deserving.

Shah in the team with overall avg 34 and 91 in Aus/NZ tour?

He can compete with Bradman with that avg.

Ashwin and Stokes both have done better than Ali. Root shouldn't be there either.

Pujara, Kohli, Smith and Azhar Ali are automatic picks for this year. All have scored 1000+ runs at avg of 62+.

KL Rahul scored 850 runs at avg of 53 and Warner 1000 at avg of 45. One opening slot can go to Rahul.

De Kock for WK position.

Ashwin and Jadeja are automatic picks for this year. 99 and 84 wickets respectively.

Rabada is highest wicket taker and Anderson best avg.

1 slot is remaining for an AR. All other batsmen average in 30s and 40s except Root and Rahim. No point picking a batsman. Although with Jadeja, you are already getting a 45 avg batsman and 23 avg bowler. No other AR have better numbers than him in both discipline.

Stokes 1000 runs at 40 v Ali 830 runs at 34 and Shakib 773 runs at 42
and Stokes 35 wickets at 27 and Ali 51 wickets at 50 and Shakib 41 wickets at 29

Stokes being a pacer can be preferred. Ali and Shakib both are close. Team already has 2 spinners.
