ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2026 - Discussion thread [From January 15 - February 06]

typo meant to say if it was not affected by rain
It was affected by rain right at the start lol That is why they even chose to field first because spicy nature in the morning and you know what to do while chasing. That is what all teams do. You sound like that is a bad thing lol. Give credit to India coming back.

If you wanna troll at least do with a better topic. DLS calculations are publicly available and cannot be hanged.
You sir aren't allowed to tell me what to troll about.

BD shouldn't hold back now, boycott rest of the WC in protest. That'll teach em(BCCICC) :hasan2

Indian fielding won the match. VIhaan malhotra twohigh catches, Kundu's superb catch, Also fielding to run a batsman o ut and above all Suryavanshi's catch. Deepesh diving atch. and in the first over thirdman catch

The rain that interrupted Bangladesh is innings, made things tricky because you want to be ahead of DLS, but at the same time not lose wickets, so very tricky, granted India bowled well but Bangladesh got a little unlucky, hence part of the game

You are batting second precisely for this situation. You get lesser targets with 10 wickets in hand. That is what all teams do. Imagine them chasing all 236? That is even trickier against older ball

Actually India didn't bowl well, kept bowling full tosses, all the wickets came due to kids not strong enough yet trying to hit sixes, RRR was only 7 and spinners were bowling, singles and twos could've won them the match bit they panicked due to inexperience. Main thing is they learn from this and don't remain the same by the time they reach the men's team.

Bangladesh u-19 has been very good for a few years now: kudos to whoever scouts talent at a ground level despite way less resources.

From this unit

1) Vaibhav
2) Kundu
3) Deepesh

shwo some promises. Others are mostly suitable for this level. Vihaan is going to play with Virat in the IPL. So he has time to upskill. Him being able to bowl is a massive advantage. Vihaan is a better test batsman. But he has serious concentraiton issues. So many times got out to loose shots. Henil, khilan, Kanishk, Ambrish are average bowlers. Aaron george looks like a better batsman than these guys

They have 4 in the squad that played in the last u19 as well. They have no restriction like India "you should play only one u19 wrorld cup". So they have experience.

@jnaveen1980 keeps whining here. He calls almost every match meaningless, yet continues posting in those very match threads. He tells Bangladeshi fans to focus on senior team performances, while he himself is busy commenting on a Bangladesh vs India Under-19 match. Rondu of the highest order. :inti
Lol hahah that guy is a midwife who has delivered all the Indian u-19 players he gets so defensive when someone accuse India of age fudging.

Good point.

They needed to take it deep. This is not the type of pitch where you can slog easily. Singles and doubles could've been enough.

Also, last few batters came in without helmets. Bad idea. Every batter should have a helmet on because top edges can hit them when they are trying to slog.

Some folks were going on about a rivalry . Despite all their desperation and aggression while playing India, their worst record is also against India at this level

They always pick fights with Indians. It is quiet unusual they didn't do much from what i saw. Did they do anything when India batted after each wicket. II only watched last 10 or 12 overs. In the past they were notorious for triggering fights.

Agree 👍, it’s only a few but they are toxic enough to ruin it
Yes, there are definitely some spicy and chirpy characters in every team - some more than others. But having seen cricket for a very long time, I feel any team’s likeability is directly tied to the behavior of their fans. I’ll be the first to admit we (Indians) are no exception to the rule. Some people might like our team per se but the fan behavior turns them away. Bangladesh fans on this forum are generally good guys bar one exception. Indians historically have supported Bangladesh team but things have changed in the last few years - a combination of player and fan behavior.

I have blocked a fwe guys for atleast 3 or 4 years lol I don't see their message. They betters top wsating their time on tagging me.

This Indian team is barely an average team.
Suryavanshi blows hot and cold.
Mhatre is a flop.
George and Pangalia look like one hit wonders.
Vivian Malhotra is talented but not performing.
Bowling is mediocre. Only that Henil Patel looks decent.

Aaron is a good batsman. He didn't play today.

WHy does India play 2 keepers. Pangalia is not needed. Aaron is more useful and he is a top order batsman. He is better than Vedant as well

Congratulations to @CrIc_Mystique he followed India from the start.

Rest came in only when win was certain.
Thanks DV ,- & Kudos to u as well - you were here from start too....good match, my commiserations - it didn't go ur guys way....but surely BD have shown they have talent, fighting spirits & this surely will stand them in good stead for next upcoming games...

Suryavashni played a good knock on a tough wicket. He can blow hot or cold when he blows hot Indian win is almost guaranteed.

Bowling doesn't look too great.

Bangladeshi bowler Al Fahad was pick of the bowlers across both sides.

You guys need to get rid of that useless captain first.
He is a llittle cocky because he played under MSD in his first IPl season. He actually has some talent. But pure over-confidence that bowlers at this level are easy pickings. He himself is an unfinished product. Hope he unerstand that.

Bar 2 active and 2 retired.

Congrats to Indian lads, commiserations to Bangladesh lads, if they had kept their heads screwed they had this in the bag.

Rest the Bangla lads look about as u19 as Vaibhav looks 14....

ICC should investigate
:shakib

Suryavasnhi is an outstanding fielder. I have never seen Kohli or Rohit taking catches like this when tthey were young. IN the last few months i have seen him take atleast 5 or 6 tough catches. He can bowl a bit.

He is exposed to a higher standard of cricket at young age than Kohli and Rohit were. But yeah his fielding is excellent.

He shouldn't worry about bowling for now Just focus on his batting.

Fielding is something you don't acquire naturally that easily. Vaibhav is a bit like Tendulkar who was very good in the deep when he was 16 or 17. Great sense of timing. KOhli has dropped more catches in the last 15 years than anyone else. Kohli fields well stops it. But catching is always 50/50.

I have been following U19 scores since the Asia Cup and I have yet to see him score. Even when he was rested, a kid that replaced him in the last match of the series against SA scored a 100. His tactics as captain on the field have been average to poor. Also didn't know he played the IPL, what were his scores?

2024 captain uday saharan was level headed. Always stepped up when needed despite limited talent.

Match Summary

India posted a competitive 238 despite a mid-innings wobble. Bangladesh was comfortably placed at 88/2 when rain interrupted play. Upon resumption with a shortened target of 165 in 29 overs, Bangladesh needed 75 runs from 70 balls. However, Vihaan Malhotra delivered a decisive 4-wicket burst, causing Bangladesh to collapse from 123/3 to 146 all out, handing India their second consecutive win in the tournament.

Off-field Incident

The match also saw a clarification from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) regarding a "no-handshake" episode at the toss, which the board described as a "momentary lapse in concentration" and "completely unintentional."
