ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2026

Toss update:

Pakistan U19 have won the toss and are fielding first against Bangladesh U19

All 15 players from both sides can take part in the warm-up match.
Update:

Match stopped due to rain

Bangladesh 12-3, 2.4 overs (Ali Raza 2-2, Umar Zaib 1-10)

4 down. We have a very good pace quartet, probably the best this WC. Although haven't seen the Aussies, SA etc yet. Batsmen need to step up if are to have a chance. Even last WC bowlers got us to the semis but we had a much better batting line up.

Yep, must agree - you guys have impressive pacemen as i saw iin the AC-u19 and will be a real threat given better bowlign condiditons....

Would defo consider Pak team as one of the semifinalists...and potential to go all the way....

My own side india - basically is Vaibhav +10 other guys and our pace bowling is pretty pop gun tame - don't see us making a real dent in this tournament.....but like you said - have no idea about other teams....+ inthis format one good day, one good performance can really change the tide...

Update from Masvingo Sports Club, Zimbabwe:

Play stopped again due to rain. Bangladesh are 152-7 in 36.3 overs.
The warm-up match between Pakistan and Bangladesh Under-19 teams was abandoned due to rain.

The rain-affected match, played ahead of the ICC Under-19 World Cup, took place at the Masvingo Sports Club in Zimbabwe.

After Pakistan Under-19 won the toss and opted to field, Bangladesh Under-19 scored 152 runs for 7 wickets in 36.3 overs, with Kalam Siddiqui remaining unbeaten on 71 and Ali Raza taking three wickets for Pakistan.

Ali Raza takes three wickets as rain washes out Pakistan-Bangladesh U19 warm-up match

Ali Raza grabbed three wickets as Pakistan U19 put in a disciplined bowling performance against Bangladesh U19 before persistent rain forced the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup warm-up match to be called off without a result at the Masvingo Sports Club in Zimbabwe on Saturday afternoon.

After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to field and made early inroads into the Bangladesh batting line-up. Right-arm fast bowler Ali struck twice in his first over to reduce Bangladesh to 10 for two, dismissing Zawad Abrar and Rifat Beg, while Umar Zaib accounted for skipper Azizul Hakim shortly after to leave Bangladesh reeling at 12 for three.

Rain continued to interrupt play at regular intervals. Kalam Siddiki scored an unbeaten 71 off 98 balls, which included six fours.

Mohammad Sayyam chipped in with a wicket, while Momin Qamar and Usman Khan picked up one scalp each to keep Bangladesh in check.

Ali later returned to dismiss wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Abdullah, completing his three-wicket haul as Bangladesh reached 152 for seven in 36.3 overs when rain interrupted play once again. With rain continuing and conditions failing to improve, the match was eventually called off.

Talking to PCB Digital after the match, Ali Raza said:

“I worked closely with the bowling coach during the tri-series and he gave me confidence. In today’s match, I managed to take two wickets early and another later in the innings, which was encouraging for me.

“It was a bit difficult due to the rain as conditions kept changing, which made it challenging for the players. However, I tried to adapt whenever I got the chance and gave my 100 per cent.

“We have won two tournaments recently. The entire team put in a lot of effort, everyone is confident and we will give our best in the World Cup.”

Pakistan U19 are set to travel to Bulawayo from Masvingo on Sunday, where they will take on USA U19 in their second warm-up match on Tuesday, 13 January at the Bulawayo Athletics Club.

The 16-team ICC U19 Men’s World Cup is set to take place in Namibia and Zimbabwe from 15 January to 6 February. Farhan Yousaf-led side are placed in Group C and will take on England in their opening match on 16 January at the Takashinga Sports Club in Harare.

India and Tanzania win as Under-19 World Cup warm-ups continue

The road to Harare begun for 10 more teams on Saturday, with five warm-ups matches ahead of the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued to catch the eye with a superb 96 as India beat Scotland, while Tanzania were in excellent form ahead of their tournament debut while beating Japan.

Co-hosts Zimbabwe were among six teams frustrated by wet weather, with three matches abandoned.

Super Sooryavanshi narrowly misses century as India impress

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued to set tongues wagging as he hit a blistering 50-ball 96 in India’s emphatic 121-run win against Scotland, via DLS.

The 14-year-old scored 68 and 127 in a series against South Africa on the eve of this tournament and maintained that form with nine fours and seven sixes in a brilliant innings that set the platform for India to compile a high score.

Vihaan Malhotra (77), Aaron Varghese (61) and Abhigyan Kundu (55) also hit half-centuries as India scored 374 for eight from 50 overs.

Wet weather meant Scotland faced a revised target of 234 from 24 overs, and they started well by reaching 59 for one. But they lost regular wickets from there, as Khilan Patel (3/4) and Deepesh Devendran (3/14) took three each to carry India to victory.

All-action Bakrania inspires Tanzania

Tanzania impressed ahead of their first-ever ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup with a comfortable win against Japan.

Laksh Bakrania produced a captain’s performance by hitting an unbeaten 53 with the bat and taking two wickets with the ball in the 81-run victory via DLS.

Tanzania batted first and rebuilt from 17 for three to score 204 for nine, with Bakrania top-scoring and further contributions from Karim Kiseto (34) and Augustine Mwamele (23).

Kazuma Kato-Stafford (2/32) removed Tanzania’s openers, while Nihar Parmar took three for 15 as Japan impressed in the field.

Set an adjusted 127 in the run chase, Japan struggled to form a meaningful partnership as Tanzania’s impressive bowling arsenal blew them away for 45 – with Raymond Francis taking three for seven.

Gill hits century against hosts Zimbabwe

Amrinder Gill hit an excellent century at the top of the order as USA appeared set for a promising total against Zimbabwe before rain halted play in Harare.

Gill hit 15 fours in his 118-ball knock and carried USA to 174 for four from 33.2 overs before wet weather curtailed the match.

USA captain Utkarsh Srivastava weighed in with 30, while Dhruv Patel took two wickets for Zimbabwe.

Andrew on form as West Indies make solid start

Jewel Andrew top-scored for West Indies with a well-executed 81 but their match with Ireland was also abandoned due to rain in Windhoek.

West Indies were bowled out for 246 in 42.5 overs, with wicket-keeper Andrew the only batter to pass 50, but Ireland were unable to start their innings.

Andrew had support from Isra-El Morton (36), Jonathan Van Lange (28) and Zachary Carter (26), while Luke Murray was the pick of the Ireland bowlers as he finished with three for 39.

Kalam hits the ground running

In Masvingo, Kalam Siddiki got his eye in with an unbeaten 71 but rain curtailed Bangladesh’s match with Pakistan.

Pakistan elected to field and made a promising start by restricting Bangladesh to 12 for three as Ali Raza removed both openers in his first over.

Siddiki, batting at four, held the innings together and hit six fours in his 98-ball innings, but Pakistan took regular wickets and Rizan Hossan (18) was Bangladesh’s next highest scorer.

The inclement weather reduced Bangladesh’s innings to a maximum of 43 overs and they completed 36.3 before the match was abandoned.

The two teams next play on Tuesday, with Pakistan due to face USA in Bulawayo while Bangladesh head to Harare to play Scotland.

You guys also have good players but they rarely click together. The other opener who was the captain, Mathre I think hasn't been performing, they rested him for the last match against SA with another guy who scored a century but now for the warm up WC match Mathre is back and failed again. Then there is too much focus on that Suryavanshi kid which most probably rubs the other players the wrong way, and probably puts too much pressure on them to perform like him or better. One of your WK batsmen also scored a 200 in the Asia Cup. Everyone seems to be playing individually for fame and not for the team pr the love of the game, the components are all there but the players just aren't gelling.

Also during the Ind-Pak game, the kids (from both sides, but more so I felt from the Indian side) were more interested in sledging, doing things like pointing to the shoes etc rather than focusing on the game. Not good signs for the future.

Agree with this.

Modern day Indian youngsters seem to have massive behavior issues. For example, Jaiswal sledged Starc in the last series. After that, Jaiswal lost form.

This type of attitude may come back to bite Indian players. Not everyone can pull it off like Virat Kohli. :inti

yep, good observations...i wish they concentrated more on skills required to win games and team work rather tahn other negative things....

When it comes to cringe - the bangers take it up several notches, the ATG goats...

ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2026: Group D Preview

Media release

Group D of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 contains two former champions, as West Indies and South Africa both look to chase another crown alongside Afghanistan and tournament debutants Tanzania.

South Africa won their only title in 2014 and reached the semi-finals two years ago as hosts.

They are joined by 2016 champions West Indies, who narrowly missed out on a semi-final place in 2024.

Afghanistan have twice reached the semi-finals, in 2018 and 2022, but made an early exit last time out while Tanzania will make their ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup bow in Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Afghanistan
Two-time semi-finalists Afghanistan will be aiming to reach those heights once more after a disappointing first round exit in 2024.

Three defeats from three meant Afghanistan departed at the group stage in South Africa, but they boast a pedigree that means they will be a threat to challenge at the right end once again in 2026.

Afghanistan made their ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup debut in 2010 but have been ever-present since and have reached the knockouts on four occasions.

Recent results saw a group stage exit at the U19 Men’s Asia Cup in December despite some strong batting performances from Uzairullah Niazai and Faisal Khan, who hit 103 against Bangladesh.

Wicketkeeper Mahboob Khan will captain the side, while Nooristani Omarzai and Zaitullah Shaheen will be charged with taking wickets for a squad featuring no players from two years ago.

South Africa

After narrowly missing out on a home final in 2024, South Africa make the short trip to Zimbabwe and Namibia determined to go at least one better.

The hosts lost by two wickets to India two years ago despite impressive performances from Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Kwena Maphaka, who were both named in the team of the tournament.

However, it is an entirely new squad that heads into the 2026 edition led by all-rounder Muhammad Bulbulia.

Bulbulia was captain and wicketkeeper as South Africa reached the final of the Tri-Nations tournament in August, eventually losing to Bangladesh in the decider.

The majority of that squad has been retained for the World Cup, with Jorich van Schalkwyk and Adnaan Lagadien tasked with providing the batting platform.

Bandile Mbatha will lead the bowling attack alongside Ntandoyenkosi Soni and Bayanda Majola as South Africa look to earn a first title in over a decade.

Tanzania
Tanzania battled past 13 other nations to reach their first-ever ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup.

They first had to earn a place in the main Africa qualification tournament, before going unbeaten to seal their spot in Zimbabwe and Namibia in style.

Those results mean there is plenty of excitement ahead of their first World Cup, where they will face sides from outside of Africa for the first time.

Captain Laksh Bakrania will lead from the front with both bat and ball, finishing as the top run-scorer during qualification as well as chipping in with regular wickets.

Already a senior international, the 18-year-old left-hander previously earned headlines as a 14-year-old when he took five for 28 against Namibia.

Pacer Khalidy Amiri will lead the bowling attack alongside Hamza Ally and Raymond Francis, while Acrey Pascal and Agustino Mwamele provide batting firepower throughout the order.

West Indies
The 2016 champions have an impressive historical record at ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cups, but it has been a decade since they reached the knockout stages.

That was when they won the tournament thanks to an impressive five-wicket victory over India and they will hope for similar results this time around should they successfully navigate Group D.

Two members of the 2024 squad remain, with Joshua Dorne stepping up to the captaincy and Jewel Andrew also returning.

Dorne led the West Indies during their recent Youth ODI series against Sri Lanka and England, where he impressed with the bat.

Andrew became West Indies’ youngest ODI player when he made his debut against Sri Lanka in 2024 and will be hoping to use that experience at age-group level.

Elsewhere, Jakeem Pollard and Shaquan Belle both impressed with the ball against England and Sri Lanka while vice-captain Jonathan van Lange is another big hitter in the middle order.

Pakistan U19 will take on USA U19 in their second warm-up match of the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup at the Bulawayo Athletic Club in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe on Tuesday. The first ball of the match will be bowled at 9.30am local time, with the toss scheduled at 9am.

The Pakistan team held a training session at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Monday, where the players took part in net sessions as well as fielding drills for three hours. Pakistan, who are placed in Group C of the mega event, saw their first warm-up match on Saturday against Bangladesh washed out, with only 36.3 overs of Bangladesh’s innings possible at the Masvingo Sports Club.

The 16-team tournament is scheduled to take place from 15 January to 6 February in Namibia and Zimbabwe. Champions of the 2004 and 2006 ICC U19 editions, Pakistan will face England in their opening fixture at the Takashinga Sports Club in Harare on 16 January.

Pakistan will enter the mega event on the back of winning two tournaments – the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup and the U19 tri-series. “We are fortunate to have this group of players and all the coaches feel equally privileged. One in-built quality in these boys is that they never give up and continue to fight till the last ball.

“The teamwork within the group is outstanding, with everyone complementing each other. Unity, faith and discipline remain our core values.

Lol at that USA side - Srivastava, Garg, Gupta, Gill, Mahesh, Bhatia, Krishna, Sahni, Allepalli.

Is Trump aware of this?

Basically most of them are from Indian origin that's why USA defeating Pakistan in last World T20 was most embarassing things for Pakistan. :kp

another 70 odd not out from Minhas when the other opener is not even on 20....how can you go in a world cup with a one man team

Pathetic batting lineup this... All of these guys, apart from Sameer and maybe Usman are nobodies tbh... Useless batters.

he retires out on 72 and then there is a collapse against mighty USA what can i say....

It clearly shows that Pak-Americans don't have much interest in cricket. Also, I am assuming that many (or pretty much all) of the Indians in USA 11 belong to 1st generation. The rest of the OTHER ethnicities have already most likely quit the sport.

ICC didn't put India and Pakistan in the same group. Also, they didn't put BD and SL in the same group.

Very refreshing to see.

Groupings should be random.

Pathetic batting lineup this... All of these guys, apart from Sameer and maybe Usman are nobodies tbh... Useless batters.
They aren’t useless. Development is never linear and not all young players are going to fire in every innings.

Look at Ali Hasan Baloch today. They sent him in the lower order and he hit that 36 off 19 balls. He was comfortably the highest performing batsman in the domestic U19 cup and was considered THE most talented batter per the coaches, comfortably more so than Sameer Minhas. He had a few bad innings in the Asia Cup which resulted in a crisis of confidence. Coach Shahid Anwar and Saifi Alhamdullillah made the correct decision in sending him down the order, where the brief was simple, just hit. And he did, making it a competitive total.

Thus these lads can become more than what they’re showing in some u19 matches.

Asian champions Pakistan U19 begin World Cup campaign from 16 January

Asian Champions Pakistan U19 will take on England in the opening match of the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup 2026 on Friday at the Takashinga Sports Club in Harare. Pakistan, who recently won the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup in Dubai beating India by 191 runs and the tri-series in Zimbabwe beating the hosts by nine wickets, will look to carry their winning momentum and add a third trophy to their cabinet.

Pakistan, the winners of the 2004 and 2006 editions of the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup, will also be eyeing for their third ICC U19 titles.

The ICC Men’s U19 World Cup will be played in Namibia and Zimbabwe from 15 January to 6 February. Placed in Group ‘C’ of the 16-team tournament, Pakistan will face Scotland in their second group fixture on 19 January at the Takashinga Sports Club, before taking on hosts Zimbabwe at the same venue in their final group match on 22 January.

The Super Six stage of the event will be played in Bulawayo and Harare from 24 January to 1 February, with the top four sides advancing to the semi-finals on 3 and 4 February, respectively. The final of the tournament will be played at the Harare Sports Club on Friday, 6 February.

Ahead of the mega event, Pakistan U19 took part in training sessions and played two warm-up matches to fine-tune their preparations. The first warm-up match against Bangladesh on Saturday was washed out, with only 36.3 overs of Bangladesh’s innings possible at the Masvingo Sports Club. Pakistan then defeated USA by 69 runs in their second warm-up match at the Bulawayo Athletic Club on Tuesday.

Among the 15-member squad, which will be led by Farhan Yousaf, only Ali Raza featured in the 2024 edition of the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup. The right-arm fast bowler took nine wickets in the event, where Pakistan lost to Australia by one wicket in the semi-final.

Pakistan team will travel to Harare later today from Bulawayo and will hold a training session on Thursday as they prepare for their opening fixture.

Talking to PCB Digital, Pakistan U19 captain Farhan Yousaf said:

“The U19 camp in Multan helped us perform well in the Asia Cup and the tri-series. The same support staff has been working with us for the last six months and it is now paying dividends ahead of the ICC event.

“We have prepared well for the mega event. The players share a strong bond as we have been together for the last six months.

India and the West Indies made victorious starts to the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 as two matches survived the weather on the opening day

India recovered from 25 for three to beat the USA by six wickets (DLS method) while the West Indies overcame debutants Tanzania by five wickets.

Zimbabwe’s clash with Scotland was washed out in Harare.

Patel shines in India win

India survived a scare to run out six-wicket (DLS method) winners over the USA in a rain-affected clash in Bulawayo.

Henil Patel was in fine form with the ball, taking five for 16 from seven overs to help India seize early control.

Nitish Sudini impressed for the USA, hitting four boundaries in his 36 having arrived at the crease with his side 39 for five. Sudini was the last man out as the USA were dismissed for 107 in the 36th over.

India lost Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (2) in the third over of the reply, clean bowled by a jubilant Ritvik Appidi, before the players were taken from the field due to lightning in the area with India 21 for one.

They returned with a revised target of 96 from 37 overs and quickly slipped to 25 for three, Vedant Trivedi (2) cutting straight to point before captain Ayush Mhatre (19) picked out fine leg.

But Abhigyan Kundu and Vihaan Malhotra (18) added 45 for the fourth wicket to steady the innings and Kundu continued to an unbeaten 42 to see the five-time winners home, sealing the win with a huge straight six in the 18th over.

West Indies overcome battling Tanzania

Tanzania’s first-ever match at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup ended in defeat as the West Indies ran out as five-wicket winners in Windhoek.

The African nation batted first and made a steady start, Dylan Thakrar (26) and Darpan Jobanputra (19) posted 53 for the first wicket before both fell in the space of five deliveries.

Wickets then fell at regular intervals, Vitel Lawes claimed (3/23) and Micah McKenzie (2/15) and Shaquan Belle (2/23) chipping in with two apiece as the middle order failed to fire.

Tanzania slipped to 86 for seven and though Acrey Pascal (10) and Khalidy Amiri (12) pushed them into three figures, the innings was wrapped up on 122 with 16 overs unused.

The West Indies lost Zachary Carter (8) early in reply, the first of two scalps for Agustino Mwamele (2/17), but Tanez Francis (52) and Jewel Andrew (44) added 80 for the second wicket to take the batting side to within touching distance.

Both fell before the job was done as the Windies had a wobble, Raymond Francis (2/23) also took two wickets, but Shamar Apple hit the winning boundary from the final ball of the 21st over.

Rain frustrates Zimbabwe and Scotland

Co-hosts Zimbabwe were left kicking their heels alongside Scotland in Harare as rain caused an abandonment without a ball being bowled.

Zimbabwe are next in action against England on January 18, with Scotland taking on Pakistan on January 19.

Afghanistan players and quiet a few pakistan players. Pakistan has a few of them who look over 20,21. Subhan , Ali Raza neitehr of them look under-19 probably around 2022.
Nice you ignored India who equally have player looking above their stated ages.

Tomorrow is BD vs India. Hoping for a BD victory. :dav

At U19 level, gap isn't that big. :inti

Hoping for NZ and BD to knock India out. :inti

Clash of Titans today... India vs Bangladesh on...

India has the upper hand but they will be under pressure considering their defeat in semis earlier in asia cup.

who are they? India checks them. Everyone knows career is practically over if they get caught.
But many don't get caught. Even the guys playing for the national team are fudgers- Gill and Tilak in particular. Washi is suspect too.

The only thing that can be said is that the max. fudging you see in India now is around 3 years. Ihsanullah level fudging doesn't exist in India anymore.

More than just a match. Good luck to Bangladesh against Indian age fudgers.

Just using the same language Indians are unnecessarily using for other players bro.

Looks like there is a plan against Vaibhav. So far looking he is doing well though..I don't know much about their other players but we gotta get him out to have a chance.

I think match has gone this kid got too much momentum and our bowlers are not withstanding the onslaught

This Bulawayo pitch is reasonably spicy ... 67/3 in 13 & wonder kid gets his 50 from 30 balls .
ps : Can see a few U23 guys in BD team for sure !
