If WI make the final, he's going to destroy Indian bowlers lol, especially Khaleel Ahmed.
Khaleel is a good bowler
WI have tendency to throw away their good starts. They decimated Pakistan in first 15-20 overs but panicked afterwards
Brain ****
Not at all. This is how he's played the whole innings and it's worked very well indeed. Good decision, perhaps not the best execution. A pat on the back, in the dressing room.
Tbh he already had 10 runs from the over and it was obvious he was going to try one more and the guy bowled a little quicker and he was a walking wicket. He could had waited that over off.
The same thing can be said in earlier over where he got three boundaries. You don't get big fast scores thinking that way. Pope's logic is closer to how the game is played at highest level nowadays. Big overs are hugely demoralizing. When a bowler has been hit for 10 already he is more likely to be rattled and bowl bad balls. You are more likely to hit him out of the attack and force them to resort to sixth and seventh bowlers.
A general principle of sports (and other things) is that when things are going very well is the best time to press the advantage and be aggressive.
That logic is ok for a T20 and i get that but when its a 50 over match 10 runs in any over is demoralizing as well.
ODI unlike T20 is still about partnerships at least on such pitches which have much for the bowlers,India did that against Lanka as well and 225 is not that great score to chase that he has to have 3 boundaries every over.
Pope's innings has made sure that run-rate will never be a problem for WI till the last over. It's all about conserving wickets now.
And partnerships come when runs are flowing. Not just by staying there. This is exactly the kind of match where losing momentum would be deadly. This is a smallish chase, a huge partisan crowd. If the pressure starts building the crowd gets in and makes noise . Runs flowing keeps it simple. The point is once it reaches a certain level they can't apply pressure any more and WI right to try and get to this point.
I think we can agree to disagree i still feel the approach of one boundary and other balls -2s,3s,1s are more than enough for ODI on non-flat pitches.
Wi batsmen always looking for runs here, no tuk tuk even though req rate isn't too huge.
This innings from Hetmeyer proves how valuable Pope was. His big hitting allowed Hetmeyer to get set. And now that Hetmeyer got set, he also is hitting big so that the next guy will be able to take his time. When Asian teams lose wickets the batsmen don't have this luxury because the set batsmen have cruised.
Will WI able to put up a fight against India in the final?

Walk in the park for windies now.this BD team is so over hyped
After this match. I think yes
Honestly I dont think WI will have any chance against this Indian side. India is way ahead of other teams in this WC.
There was reason for hype actually but they are unable to carry the form(they had) in this WC! They did whitewash this very WI side in worthless series.
Was that series in Bangladesh?
So it will be the eldest brother India taking revenge of both the younger brother's losses from west indies in final

We will want our older bro to follow the suit and let Kali Andhi win![]()

The hips don't lie.
Do you know anything about Cricket? right before the tournament, Bangladesh destroyed West Indies 3-0. Bangladesh's fielding is far superior to Pakistan under-19s, and that's proving to be the main difference. Not only that, but technically, BD are way superior too. Pakistan batsman couldn't handle the pace and swing of these West Indian fast bowlers.
