ICC World Cup 2023: Glenn Maxwell's incredible 201*(128) leads Australia (293/7) to a fantastic 3-wicket win against Afghanistan (291/5)

Australia probably went too hard in power-play. What margin of victory will bring AFg RR positive?

Bro, there are bowlers like boult and Starc. Genuine white ball ATGs that have struggled badly this worldcup and yet Naveen and Azmat are looking like world beaters.

It's about the conditions. The ball still hasn't stopped moving. It's crazy.

Could be a deliberate tactics to delay the game - they know dew is coming.

Last South Africa tour, BD won toss and put SAF in under gloomy sky and a fresh wicket - then batsmen complained about sight screen and they took 2 hours to fix that - game finally started after lunch under scorching sun.
 
My only issue with Afghan reaching the semis is that its an even more guaranteed loss to India than Paks is after all they would be playing their masters.

Aussies are the biggest smokescreen. Their perception of being dangerous is built on the legacy of ponting and McGrath. This bunch isn't remotely special.

Pakistan has never beaten India, so that means Pakistan should never play a KO game when India is the opposition in the world cup?

and what is masters suppose to mean?

It's a good strategy by Marnus to be honest. Wait for dew to come and at least try and preserve the NRR somewhat.

Bowl the opposition out cheaply. Early this year India bowled Austrlaia out for 188. Shami 3/17 Siraj 3/29. In return India did collapse to 16/3 then 39/4. But KL Rahul, Pandya, Jadeja finished off the chase.

That means it's time for Boult and Starc to retire. I saw Boult bowl absolute 125k pies against Pak. Starc has been a non factor for a couple of years now. New ball under lights will swing in India
 
I think Australia has become too one dimensional for a team of so much quality - they have only one way of playing and it back fired today.

Last ball of Azmat’s over, already 8 runs came and it’s quite clear that Azmatullah is moving the ball, still the shot Maxwell played tells that these Aussies are not those die hard old Aussie teams who could adjust their game.
 
Stonis is a walking wicket against Afghani spin.

Get maxwell out and the game is done.

So impressed how matured their batting has become since that run chase win against a quality bowling side Pak. The bat sensible, don’t play loose wild shots in the middle overs and have a proper game plan playing their own brand of cricket..

Pitch grips a bit in the first inning. It swings a bit under lights in the first PP and dew kicks in after 25 overs. It's even contest as long as one is patient in the first innings and skillful against moving ball in the second. Indians are the best chasers in the world and this is their home ground. It will be fine

Stonis himself asked the umpire to check because he wasnt sure. The umpires were about to give it out but stonis said check it.

Marnus was out because bat is in the air.
 
Now they will bowl Rashid noor in tandem don't think Australia can even get to 150

NOt everywhere. In some places chasing easier. In Chennai it is very hard. This is why i rate Afghanistan's chase there against Pakistan as one of the best chase in this world cup.

Bro if Afghanistan can Play better cricket then they deserve to go in Semifinals but still they are far away from winning this game as long as Maxwell is there .
