ICC World Cup 2023: Pakistan (205/3) end their losing streak with a convincing victory over Bangladesh (204) by 7 wickets

Yep all this talk of NRR is very nice, but Pakistan camp was mainly looking to secure the win first and foremost. Then if (and it's a big if) they win their remaining games, they can go home with heads held high. The loss to SA was the killer blow, but might as well fight on while there's even a small chance.
Doesn't help much if you go out of 2 consecutive WCs being no 5 and losing SF spot on NRR, this is where our mentality needs to change, that we need to play consistent cricket and make sure every game counts, not lose some games badly and win some with big margin and leave everything on ifs and buts.

Some truly dark times for Babar. Easy pitch to bat on and all of our batsmen were scoring runs and doing it easily too but Babar struggles continue and at this point, it feels mental issues vs spinners. Hopefully a win gets him a bit at ease and he relax a little.

Pakistan would be in such a good position if they defended the targets vs Afghanistan & SA. Still unlikely they make it unless they get super lucky and everything breaks their way but then again, that happened in last year's world cup so who knows.

Tbf to Babar, he played alright in the India game and got out looking to accelerate which I feel was the right approach, in the SA game he was pretty unlucky to get out like that and then he never really has been someone to close out matches, I've noticed he generally gets out cheaply when were chasing from a comfortable position so this isn't that much of a surprise. That being said, he definitely does need to just try to become a bit more at ease and be comfortable with his game, it would do a world of difference to his batting and Pakistan's chances if he can really step up and play a captain's innings as an example for the team.

Which is why I am advocating for Imad Wasim to lead the T20 team...be ruthless and play according to the team needs if it means breaking the RizBar opening partnership and slot in Fakhar/Saim there...
The probabilities are way too slim for Imad considering all things. Sarfaraz, Shan even Saud seem to have better chances than him.

Imam is good batter. He was consistent. Just having a lean patch.
I don't know what's the definition of a "good batter" according to you. But a guy like him with such mediocrity, limitations & pathetic timid intent should never ever be allowed in a modern day odi outfit. A total loss project.

Opposite -

opposite- these players were forced to “look like secular” in their appearance, words …. Just that everyone have reached their limit, and don’t care for much now.
You probably have noticed, Mahmudullah did sizda after his hundred…. Because guy is retiring, doesn’t care any more.

Where had you been

Where had you been? I thought you died. We all missed you.

Bad people don’t die young - I’ll tease you guys for many many years inshallah. Just was busy to fix career derailed by covid. But, getting older - don’t have that passion anymore, neither the energy to take a fight online. Icing on the cake is the soap opera by BCB and it’s stooges, some have come to tour India for a month on public money.

I think topspin is referring to Mushfiq and Riyad's beards

They are married to 2 sisters, so sometimes the whole family turns towards a certain path, in which case maybe 2 Brother in laws would also join to not feel left out
MoYo turned towards a certain path …. And scored over 3k runs at 85+ in three years. Nothing wrong in keeping beard - it should make you internally stronger….. even I have grown beard. These players basically don’t care for it anymore - just going through the motions while the younger ones have lost appetite of performing- they know it’s not required to keep a spot.

They could have chased it before the 30th over.Rizwan and Iftikhar should have batted at 3 and 4.

This victory will be a sigh of relief for mgmt. Who are under the pump but if Nz win tomorrow we're doomed

Good all round performance. But the bottom line is a little to late.

I've pretty much given hope now, as being a dual England and Pakistan fan, it's been a two way disaster.

You r one of the most respectable poster in this forum. May Allahahsubhanuwata'ala gives you long nek hayat Ameen. As a Bangladeshi I m totally shocked to see how our cricket is being brutality destroyed.

He has got a decent SR, is consistent. He has very good record against Australia. That is enough to cement a place in team like Pakistan. I don't think there is any Gill or Rohit in Pakistan.

With this mindset, we've maintained mediocrity for an extended period. We've consistently relied on the same excuses for average/below avg ODI players like Malik, Shafiq, Younis, Farhat, Harris, Jamshed, and now Imam. Frankly, there's ample talent available, and it's essential to invest in the right players, not those who are incapable of adapting to modern ODI cricket after given consistent run for YEARS!

To those who suggest that Pakistan can end on a high note by winning the remaining games, let me clarify: there's no "high note" to be found here. We can't sugarcoat or whitewash the team's embarrassing losses to India and Afghanistan. The writing is on the wall for this team, unless they miraculously make it to the semifinals.
