Let’s keep a track of who is most likely to win CWC MOTT, among the most prestigious achievements in cricket. At an individual level this is as big as the World Cup itself and definitely a level or 2 above ICC player of the year.

Rachin, Conway, De Kock, Dussen, Markram the early leaders so far

I think Klassen, Conway, Rohit and glen maxwell will be at the top after the tournament finishes.

Devon Conway's a hot shout now.
150 red against a cup contender and about 4 gimme games to follow

Sometimes the most deserved player doesn't get the man of the tournament.

For example, Stokes and Yuvraj should have been the man of tournaments for 2019 and 2011 World Cup respectively but they didn't got that award.

Yuvraj was the Man of the series / Player of the tournament during the 2011 WC, if I am not wrong.

Oh yes! I thought it's Afridi. Afridi was man of series in 2007 World T20 actually, so I got confused with that tournament because Yuvraj was sensational in that tournament as well.

Bumrah opens his account.

He could be a contender among bowlers.

Last WC, Shakib scored over 600 runs from No. 3, batted 8 innings, with a lowest of 41, rest 6 were 50+ including two hundreds. Then took 11 wickets including one 5for…..

And Ken Williamson won MoS - probably he himself was more ashamed than ICC. Therefore, I don’t think “prediction” is safe here.

We all know it was a consolation for robbing the trophy from NZ , the deserving champions of 2019

Yes.

Rohit, Shakib and Stokes were ideally the front runners for player of the tournament. Warner was excellent too and ahead of Kane/Root. They gave Kane the award for his leadership. Given that NZ drew the world Cup final, it is okay to give someone from Kiwis an award as well.

Early entries from Bharat :

KL Rahul
Jadeja
Kohli
Kohli was always be a contender. KL Rahul looked in great touch but I don't think that we are going to see him come in to bat so early in most of the matches so he won't have the chance to face the number of balls that he did today. Jaded would always be taking wickets in such conditions but not all Indian pitches will have these conditions.

1. Rachin Ravindra
2. Mitchell Santner
3. KL Rahul
4. Dewon Convoy
5. Adam Markram

Too early to say but all things considered I would have to argue that right now it's either Santner or Markram. I would probably have to say Markram just because getting the fastest World Cup 100 ever in the opening game is truly something special.

Rohit Sharma today showed his class with a blistering century. He would be a real candidate for the man of the tournament.

I reckon rather than a consistent run, we will show a hot and cold run from him.

But if he goes for in half the innings, he’s still a tournament level player

My updated Top 5

1. De Kock

Although Rizwan has slightly more runs than Sharma and Kohli but the other two have had more impact so far.

Kohli making a major jump today.

KL Rahul should be in the list too as he averages infinity with bat with a match winning standout performance vs Australia.

Madushanka is now the joint leading wicket-taker in the tournament after his 4 wickets today against Netherlands.

Ben Stokes getting robbed of the Player of the Tournament award was an absolute joke.

For me it’s hard to give an order so far until they play each other

But Rohit, Bumrah, Santner are definitely on the list. Probably Santner is the best so far because he’s the leading wicket taker while also being an amazing lower order bat

Glenn Maxwell has certainly make an entrance into the contention of being player of the tournament after his remarkable double hundred against Afghanistan.

Bumrah, Kohli
Zampa, Maxwell
Rachin
QdK
Shaheen

Will probs be one of these.

Quinton De Kock, Mohammed Shami, and Virat Kohli. They are the leading candidates for Player of the Tournament (as of now).

Depends who wins - if Australia, it’ll be Maxwell. For SAF, it should be QdK, or Jansen, depending on what they do in KOs; if India then might be a little problem - RS, VK, Shami, Jadeja …. But I’ll take Bumrah. He is bowling exceptionally well with new ball, middle overs, even in third PP. didn’t take bucket full of wickets, but took key wickets, broke partnerships.

From NZ/PAK/AFG (one of them will make SF) it’ll be RR/Shaheen/Ibrahim Zardan

It's a waste of discussion, we all know ICC is dying to give it to Kohli, another half century somewhere and he will get it.

Player of the tournament - Maxwell, whether Australia wins or loses. What he did today is what most players can't even dream of. It is equivalent to a dehydrated bowler taking 10 wickets with a broken arm.
Kohli can score another 2-3 centuries but India is not getting over what Maxwell did. He will be admired as much as AB Devilliers in India going forward. A lot was missing in this World Cup due to one-sided matches resulting from India's dominance, the continuance of Saffer's inability to chase, and Pakistan being predictably unpredictable. Fakhar then came in and lit a fire and just when I thought this was the best we could get from this World Cup, Maxwell came in and played a once-in-a-lifetime inning. It is not going to get any better than this. Stop the World Cup immediately and hand over the trophy to Maxwell(not Australia). Declare him as the individual winner and deprecate the ODI format once and for all signing off on a high.

If Australia wins the cup, Maxwell takes it easily.
Zampa. He's holding that bowling attack together with Starc and Cummins struggling at various times and without a proper 2nd spinner.

On topic, there are quite a few

Jansen, QDK, RR, Zampa, Maxwell, Madushanka, Zadran, half the Indian team - plenty of options to choose from.

Maxwell surely is in the race for this but he still needs to be consistent in the remaining matches as well. He has more impactful innings then anybody else in this Tournament.

Rohit Sharma
Virat Kohli
Ravindra Jadeja
Jasprit Bumrah

Quinton de kock
Aiden Markram
Heinrich Klaasen
Marco Jansen

Rachin Ravindra

Glenn Maxwell

These are the strong contenders.

Shami and Zampa as well

Shami even though has played fewer games, is already on the top 5 wicket takers.

Maxwell is in the race but what has Maxwell done vs Bharat, Pakistan ?

Smashing Dutch, Afghan bowlers shouldn’t let you win MOTT

Man of the tournament should be from India or Australia (based on how things have gone).

Kohli seems to be the leading candidate right now. He is averaging over 100.

It will be Kohli no.matter what. Jadeja was supposed to be thr MOM against Saffers for his runs and wickets but they gave it to Kohli. This is destined to be Kohli's world cup. Win or lose, he will be MOS

It has to be Shami. Even if he goes wicket less in the final it has to be him but knowing the injustices that exist in this world we all know it won’t be him.

Kohli, Shami, Zampa, Qdk are in race now.

Bumrah and Rohit have taken a backseat. Rachin is no longer in consideration and he probably won't make it to team of tournament also as Kohli will be there at 3 and Mitchell at 4.

Shami will be the MOT if he can take 5fer in the final.

Shami has literally most wickets in this World Cup having played 3 less matches than his competitors and yet he has to perform in the final to win it.

Just say that you don’t want to give to Shami for whatever reasons.

Bit don’t put unnecessary conditions.

He’s well ahead of everyone in this World Cup performance wise so much so that even if he goes for 100/0 in the final he would still be far ahead of the rest arguably unless Kohli smashes another century and even than batting vs bowling is a subjective debate

Rohit Sharma, it should be. But it most likely won't be, because stats matter more apparently :uak

Can't grudge Virat or Shami, if either get it though.

Assuming India win of course 😑

I kind of agree with you.

Batting BA bowling is a subjective debate but if it has to be a batter than Sharma’s contribution is up there with Kohli’s. He could have also been sitting on 700 runs right now given the form that he is in. But he’s putting the team first maintaining a SR of 120 and still has all these runs. He’s been ridiculously good

His demoralizing effect on the bowlers and pumping the RR early has allowed Virat to relax and play the long innings without much pressure. I mean, he still ahs to get those runs and not taking anything away from Kohli, but he's been allowed this luxury thanks to Rohit.

Kohli's most solo kind of effort came vs Australia and KL was equally important there. Rohit has the England knock to offset that, though Aus>Eng.

It's a hard one especially when you factor in captaincy. If Virat was captaining yesterday, we would have lost.

Kohli hands down will be the MOT for this year's ICC WOrld Cup. He has been phenomenal in this cup which probably is the last one for him. What a farewell tournament he is having.

From India
Kohli
Shami

Will need to see who wins today to select players from that team,

tentatively I would mention QDK
