ICC WT20 | 2nd Match, Super 8s | ENG V WI | Pallekelle, 27-Sep-2012

awesome chase from england. hats off to them for the way they chased after losing two in a over. although they have lost the game, they would be the team feeling comfortable after this game. they will do better in their next two games.

That was very poor bowling and good batting.

Hard fought win for WI! Great efforts in field have saved lots of runs.

Spinner goes for just 20 runs in 4 overs....will broad still be in denial about how they can't play spin ???

it was great to see the intensity shown by all the teams played today. thats international T20 world cup for you. you cant get that in IPL.

Bairstow the reason England lost today. 5 overs for 18 runs? While rest of the team got 146 runs in 15 overs.

add Kieswetter and to some extent Hales

I don't see that Hales did anything wrong. At 0/2 as the man stood at the other end, he did a decent job of re-building without being overly negative. If one was to be critical, it would be of his fitness - he was blowing steam by the end and didn't look like he could stand, let alone lay bat on ball.

Ultimately, Kieswetter and Wright, followed by Bairstow's slow show, left Morgan (and Hales) with too much to do. In terms of fulfilling your roles, Morgan and Hales did just fine tonight. If Bairstow had scored at a run-a-ball, England would have gone into the last over needing a much more manageable twelve runs.

Hales was tired at the end..last few balls he is not even connected well..if Butler should have been there for last 3 overs England should have a real chance

England lost because of:

A - their bowlers: no team really deserves to lose afte scoring 179/5
B - Jonny Misbah Bairstow:18 off 29 balls (SR of 62 is not even good enough in an ODI). Had he even batted with a SR of 100, that would have given Hales and Morgan 11 more balls to finish the game

Batting order was also wrong imo. Eoin Morgan should come in at 1- or 2-down

This is the main point. Morgan was left with too much to do, and he almost pulled it off

Hales was good but you could see he was still fairly new to International cricket and had never played in these conditions before. International cricket is very tiring and in that sort of heat it is always difficult to play a long innings. The main thing is that he is showing promise at a young age and once he is more experienced should be able to survive 20 overs in SL a bit better.

Feel sorry for Eoin Morgan, very few times will a batsman score 71 from 36 in a chase and still lose.. A great effort that should give England some confidence going into their next game.
