Ideal Batting Strike Rate for PSL on Roads/Small Boundaries

I feel the old chief selector set a very low bar at 130sr for the national selection criteria.

The pitches are absolute roads and the boundaries are easily clearable! A 130 strike rate is still very low standards and it will only translate into a 115-125 sr at international standard.

Some standout Pakistan players and their sr:

1. Imad Wasim, 328 runs sr 176.88

2. Azam Khan, 242 runs sr 175.36

3. Fakhar Zaman, 239 runs sr 171.94

Overseas Standouts:

1. Rilee Russow, 225 runs sr 166.66

2. T Cadmore, 216 runs sr 157.66

3. James Vince, 174 runs sr 175.75

Somehow I feel the National selector needed to specify different expectations of strike rates for different positions.

It is clear that an opener can and should be striking above 150 at least in the PSL especially considering the nature of the wickets, the small length of the boundaries and the stacking of overseas power hitters in the middle.

It baffles me how players who are not fortunate to play in the powerplay are still striking close to 180 whilst there are top order 1-3 players not striking above 150.

If you want to play like the big boys, then you must be ultra critical and challange them to push to SR’s above 150 and not 130!

Yes as per pitches and quality of players and keeping in mind international standards
Power Hitters SR 200SR
Middle overs 140SR
Powerplay 160SR

The Strike Rates for Riz and Shan - bit slow!!!!

With the above strike rate, the Pakistan team will score:

Powerplay: 58 runs

Middle overs: 76 runs

Death (Power hitters): 60

Total runs in 20 overs: 194

Now questions arise - if you can do this consistently - because if it is an absolute road (given the firepower at your disposal, that’s about the max you will get to give or take 5-10 runs on a normal day), then the good teams will score that in 18 overs.

If it’s not a road, then you will be bowled out for max 140 trying to get to 194. And the other team will still score that in 18 overs.

Unless you really up the ante and increase your strike rates (do you have the batting to do that?), it’s difficult for you to win with 194, given the penetration, or lack thereof, of your bowling attack, if I can call it that. Just being honest here, no malice intended.

My bad… My post was more for international matches, not PSL.

Chief selectors shouldn't put down strike rates. Players much adapt to the occasion. Our players will get bowled out trying to score at 150+ on a pitch where 120+ is suitable or tuk tuking on a pitch where you can score 170+Sr.

I was wondering from where did these bullshot stats come from,, since Imad wasim has a strike rate of 130 which is near same as Babar

For those of you who dont know, these are the stats of Imad Wasim in the last PSL

Funny how stats are manipulated to fullfill an agenda and make false threads.

People remember his crises man innings in PSL in virtual QF, SF and final.

^^ You yourself asked for him to take back his retirement last PSL?

Anyway the whole Imad wasim nonsense and everyone starting a war on PP was stupid to begin with. Both sides were extreme. Not talking about @Rana Since he wasn't one of them, but talking about a few others.

Basically one side drove a narrative of him being sone sort of crises man and perpetual match winner and the other side treated him as if he was some serial killer because he talked about Babar on tv and at the time babar was the most protected man on pcb.

The main crux was simply that Imad is a better player then the likes of nawaz, Shadab and usama mir who I myself had personally gotten sick of seeing play for pakistan.

Now that salman Ali Agha is here, pakistan no longer needs imad wasim although I still wish he'd play over khusdil shah since khsudil is useless lol.

And even then Agha really only replaces imad in odi as he bats at no 5, and can bowl occasionally since imad was never a good odi bowler.

He doesn't replace Imad in t20 for obvious reasons mainly bowling and the fact that Agha can't function in t20 unless he bats at no 3 or no 4.

No one treated Imad as a crises man for PSL, or well no serious poster atleast, nor did any serious poster just hate hin for the sake of hating him since he poked at babar on live tv lol.

One thing I will say, a true genuine criticism is his fitness during wc 2024 and his smoking habits. They clearly affected his ability to run and delayed his reactions.

He and chacha were crap in 2024 and cost pakistan the India game as a result. That I agree with.

But everyone just went insane during that period for no reason 🤣🤣🤣.
