"If a player is not performing well, it comes to his attention [via social media]" : Sarfaraz Ahmed

Sarfaraz Ahmed speaking to the press:

"Every series is important and as you know the visiting Australia T20I side is a strong one"

"Australia T20I side is always strong and we will also do our best to win good cricket"

"As you know, we also have a good team based upon our performances for the last year or so"

"We intend to play some good cricket so we can maintain our top position in T20Is"

"All the players who have come over are good players; Shaheen Shah is good, Waqas Maqsood has performed well in domestic and Imad Wasim has returned to the side too"

"Shoaib Malik will not be playing in the first game as this is a busy time for him - he will be joining the team tomorrow"

"We will be selecting the best possible XI for tomorrow and Shoaib Malik will not be available tomorrow"

"The team will be Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Hussain Talat, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Imad Wasim, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi"

"In this age of professional cricket, you have to switch over in your mind to a different format and we have had a gap of 3-4 days and we have tried to get into the T20 mode"

"We have 6 T20Is coming up, 3 against Australia and 3 against New Zealand so we have practiced a lot and we are hoping that the team will perform well and get the momentum going for T20 format"

"That pressure of performance ended but I got another type of pressure on my head [referring to knock on head]"

"As you know things get better when you start winning; as a captain, there is pressure on you as you are expected to guide your team; Thankfully things are in control now"

"Look we always try to tell players to avoid Social Media but there are so many pages and channels that its difficult"

"A player who is sitting in his room with his mobile phone doesnt have much else to do but to use his thumb to scroll up and down [the pages]"

"So if someone is not performing that well, it does come to his attention [via Social Media]"

"Look if someone is not performing well and people are after him, then he does feel angry but I believe that it is better if the player takes this criticism in a positive way and says' I will show you what I can do as I am part of the Pakistan team' and then does perform well after that"

"The responsibility for keeping players away from corruption is with the PCB and they discharge that correctly as we get lectures on anti-corruption issues; From my experience I can tell you that we were given lectures on this at the U19 level, Pakistan A and in Pakistan team level also"

"This is also up to the players to know about what is right and wrong; We all know what is in our favour and what isn't"

"If players still indulge in something wrong then they inflict injury on themselves"

"As a player when someone meets you, you have no idea what kind of a person he is as some people take pictures with us, ask us for autographs or a signature on a shirt"

"When we refuse to meet someone, they say look he is a big player now and wont meet us"

"So if someone comes to you to take a photograph with them and later it is found that this person is corrupt, then its not the fault of the player to be picture with him"

"When we played in Zimbabwe, we played all 3 games on that bouncy pitch"

"We had planned then to not give away our wicket to Billy Stanlake and attack him too"

"He is their main bowler and his job is to get early wickets as he bowls in the beginning; We will also try to attack him so that his team is put on the backfoot"

"We all know that Australia are one of the top T20I sides of the world; they may have some players missing but they have Lynn, Mitch Marsh, Mcdermott who played really well in the Big Bash"

"Chris Lynn is a big hitter and whenever he plays a long innings then he becomes dangerous for the opposition"

"We will try our best to get him out as early as we can"

Funnily journalists asking about social media when they are the ones criticizing the players!

Sensible as always! Ye gehra msla hai easy nai lena chaheye isay.

Thinks he's the god now after a few flukey performances. Tough man going through a mini purple patch just like he did back in 2014.

Sarfaraz is naively honest at times but I prefer people to be real and original

Thats a cheap shot... credit where its due.. he did well in the test series.. save your criticism for when he struggles

Hand in heart I can’t see Pakistan holding onto the number one spot in the rankings in t20I. The side is poor and over time they will drop down.

I've had players and their relatives contact me about things posted on PakPassion and that I have tweeted.

My response is always, people are free to express an opinion as long as it is not offensive, abusive or personal.

This reminds me of the time a cricketer wanted to fight me because I tweeted a stat about him :)

Gussing the Akmal khandaan is involved in this.

Why not Paakistan have done really well on this format despite not playing in big event like IPL. I expect them to beat the Aussies at least 2-1. Pak will continue to be no 1 for long time.

This is the toughest opponent we are facing in UAE./Pakistan since world t20 2016.

That being said we have already beaten Eng in England, WI in WI, NZ in NZ, Aus in Zimbawe and a world X1 with half SA players. So I don't know what else we need to do to deserve the top rankings.

I agree with them though. Some posters need to stop being so rude. Obviously that's hard to control.

Please name that cricketer or give some hints at least.

Well when you get to international cricket, be ready for rewards aswell as rude comments/behaviours/criticism along the way. Some Players treats them as a pebble on the road and ignores them, others who are not mentally touch and gets personal with each and every average joe who thinks that they knows everything. If i had to take a guess and bet my money, I would on one of the akmal brothers or Shazad being the culprit in this situation.
