A BJP MP has claimed that the opposition's talk of crisis in the nation's automobile industry is a conspiracy to defame the government. Virendra Singh Mast, a Lok Sabha MP from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh, told parliament today that traffic jams on the roads of Indian cities and towns was an indication the auto sector is, in fact, thriving. The UP BJP leader made these claims while participating in a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the state of agriculture in the country.

"To defame the nation and government people are saying that the automobile sector has slowed down. If there is a decline in automobile sales then why are there traffic jams on the roads?" Virendra Singh Mast asked parliament.

Virendra Singh Mast's bizarre claim comes despite mounting industry data that confirms the Indian automobile industry has been in the throes of a slowdown for several months.

In all honestly, India is the only country I've seen where a significant portion of population will appear to defend the country and state no matter how bad things get, barring maybe Republicans that support Trump (but there's a massive opposition to him). These people will literally defend anything and everything to do with India no matter how indefensible. There are a few of them on this forum too.

But when it comes to countries, I haven't seen anything to the extent quite like Indian public that will defend nearly anything and everything to do with the country. They might go as far as complaining about the opposition party, but when it comes to the country itself, the fundamentals, India is the only country I've seen where such a large chunk of the populace will defend it to no end. Even wealthy western countries don't have this problem.

I can't speak for Aussies, but as far as Americans are concerned, there are plenty of them that criticize their criminal justice system, their healthcare system, the way government has been run for the last 40 years, etc. The Indians I mention will stop at no lengths to defend this in India, with the only exception being criticizing the congress party.
