Let's ignore their past and have a single standard, because that's what the PCB is doing for Butt.

On merit alone, Asif is far more deserving to play cricket again. A genius and Mastermind of bowling, he's not even allowed to be in the draft.

Butt on the other hand is an accumulator worse than Fawad Alam or Usman Salahduinn.

He has no business playing LOIs. Yet he's selected, in an actual team.

Asif can play for 3-4 more years.

With Amir and Now Butt being back in the mix, calls for Asif will get louder now. Asif just needs to keep getting wickets.

Muhammad Abbas and Muhammad Asif - twin bowlers.

What a sight that would be.

Still I doubt PCB will bring back Asif back.

What a talent, cricket world lost in the spot-fixing saga.

Its all about networking really. Im sure Butt still has a strong link to guys who are involved in such decision making. Im sure if Asif still has such connections and an opportunity as such arises, we could see him back also.

LQ have set a wrong example here, there is nothing stopping a franchise to go ahead and pick Sharjeel Khan next year even though this was the league where he supposedly committed the crime.

Tbh Asif has adopted a don't give a damn attitude, he is like select me if you want or don't, I give a damn. He has also selectively played domestic cricket. Salman Butt say what you want, he has put the hard yards in and has played every domestic game, performed and has even met with Pakistan Cricket players, officials and pleaded his case in the media. He has wanted it much more than Asif and therefore has deserved this moment today.

Some lessons for Asif to learn.

Asif can't travel to UAE bcause of his past actions

Also everyone knows about Asif the person, he is a huge Alcohol/Beer and Smoking/Drug Addict, that is his personal life and I have no issues with it as long as he performs on the field. But you would think that someone when he graduates from his 20's to his 30's and has seen a lot of tough times, has become married with kids, he would clean up his act eventually. Even Shoaib matured and cleaned up his act from his carefree 20's, early 30's to a regular person now.

I personally think Asif will just not be a good influence on anyone he comes in contact with. Atleast Salman Butt and Amir generally live disciplined lives off the field which helps them to strengthen their cases.

Push and shove, Pak Government can make things happen I suppose. Plus he can still play in the Pakistan leg of the PSL anyways.

Saleem Malik even now would be good enough as a batsman competing against these modern day quarter-centurions (25) - bring him back too.

Wrong comparison and even you know that.

Not much difference in Asif and Butt.

The only one is between their cricketing quality, where Asif is a bowling legend. Butt can't bat.

Well if Salman butt does play, then odds are that asif will get picked for the next season of PSL.

Asif hasn't bothered to play much domestic, at least Salman Butt is working hard.

May god bless Mr.Butt for his hard work in that case, never mind asif; who didn't even accept payment for his transgressions Junaids

Maybe as a coaching role - his playing days are over. Some fans here will be saying bring Asif back in 2030.
