"If you can't handle pressure, then it will be difficult to play Test cricket" : Waqar Younis

Waqar Younis:

"Its a matter of great happiness that Test cricket is returning to Pakistan after 10 years for which I would like to congratulate the whole country and the PCB"

"Its been a tough 10 year period that Pakistan has endured as they were in isolation and had to play all their cricket outside which wasnt that easy"

"One always remembers their debut game which for me was in Karachi, we also saw a lot of success in Karachi and the NSK has a lot of great history and its always nice to play there"

"Fast bowlers do get assistance in Karachi, and I remember that whilst I was injured in the 2nd innings, I did perform well in the 1st innings; So Karachi is a place where you always feel like going and its the city of lights and its really nice"

"Its difficult to explain the feeling [of playing in debut] as that is something you have in your mind but you cherish it for the rest of your life"

"The crowd in Karachi has always been an inspiring and vibrant one"

"And I hope that people will come and watch and I know that people of Karachi understand cricket really well"

"So I am hopeful that ODIs, T20Is and Tests are played in Karachi more frequently then we will get to see the crowds in the same way we did before"

"Pakistan's track record in Karachi is very good"

"Whilst I may have taken more wickets in Lahore, I did enjoy whatever cricket I played in Karachi"

"Ball swings and bowlers get assistance in Karachi so its always been my favourite venue"

"Apart from Karachi and Lahore there are other centers as well but after end of isolation this will give a chance for those venues to catch up also"

"This is a good opportunity for players and if you cannot handle pressure than it will be difficult to play Test cricket"

"Test cricket is tough as is as you have to put in hard work day-in and day-out for five days"

"Test cricket is difficult but the satisfaction you derive from it is not possible in ODI, T20I cricket"

"Its my wish that youngsters should play more Test cricket because there is more recognition for us if Pakistan progresses in this format"

I agree, Karachi is always good for Test cricket.

As far as the pressure comments go then that's generally true for all forms of cricket. The best players are always those who can keep their nerves in check in tense moments.

That's why you and Misbah keep picking Azhar and Shafiq because of their mastery of pressure situations.

Good to see Shaheen crediting Waqar for his development as well.

Now Waqar has to help Naseem Shah too.

Can't listen to this guy

One deceitful individual who somehow despite awful tenures as a coach always ends up returning

Top class fraudster
Always excuses

That in swing which Shaheen has got doing is a recent development so Waqar also would have had a role in that. Naseem will get better by playing more matches for Pak and remaining with the team, Shaheen's road map was from T20s to ODIs to Tests which maybe made it a bit easier transition I think.
