How will you pay for
- free health care + free education + strong army + welfare system + renewable energies

All these sound good, but need to be paid for.

Balanced welfare system. Not the ones you see in many western countries.

Free healthcare is present in Canada and it is working fine. Education is also free here till Grade 12.

In Germany, Bachelor's Degrees are free.

What about those who're a victim of rape?

As for the rest of the list - you've come up with is what you call a Utopia that doesn't exist.

My policies would be:

- Rejoin EU
- EU Army to make Europe independent of USA / NATO
- Dissolve the UN and use the EU as a negotiating bloc with other superpowers
- House building campaign with low prices set by government to alleviate housing shortage
- Second homeowners to register as businesses and pay tax
- Free healthcare
- Free education including Bachelor's Degree
- Massive investment in Nursing and trades training
- 100% reliance on green/renewable energy.
- Abortion available up to the point where medical science can sustain a baby
- Replace Trident with Dreadnought
- Strong RN / Army / RAF
- Decriminalise some drugs and make give them to big pharma for distribution
- No death penalty
- Mutualisation of many sectors where appropriate
- Renationalise rail, water and power
- Devo max to the UK regions
- Double the pay of MPs and County Councillors
- Reform the House of Lords into an elected chamber
- Written Constitution stating power of executive, lower house, upper house, sovereign and courts.
- Proportional Representation

What about those who're a victim of rape?

As for the rest of the list - you've come up with is what you call a Utopia that doesn't exist.

Rape doesn't mean you kill the baby. Baby has a right to live.

Which ones are utopia to you? Some of these are already present in some countries (Canada has free healthcare; assault rifles are banned in Canada; Germany has free education till undergraduate).

So if the mother miscarries, she is guilty of manslaughter. The baby has a right not to be miscarried.

Why does it have to be one extreme or another?

Can’t we have common sense and assess situations as per the situation?

General comment. Nothing to do with the discussion you are having.

I am an economic conservative/social liberal- and so my policies would be-

1. Low to moderate taxes
2. Small & efficient government
3. Abortion access, but no free abortion except certain cases.
4. Same sex marriage to be allowed
5. Complete separation of religion from government policies
6. Free education till high school
7. More attractive terms of college mortgage to students
8. Low prescription drug prices & lower cost of healthcare
9. Tough on immigration; no social benefits to illegal immigrants.
10. Ban on assault rifles & multiple rounds of magazines; stricter background check for purchase of guns
11. Increased mental health evaluation & funding for treatment (in short, identify & lock up the crazies!)

Pakistan is an important country, thus, we need to be involved with more free trade agreements with movement of people aswell.

No need to make education free after 12. People dont value education at university level. I always hated how my peers took uni education very lightly.

In canada where uni education is expensive and a privledge, i always wanted Pakistani students to look at education in that sense

1. refocus on tech investment at a government level (use some public money to offer grants to universities to commercially monetise research)

2. declare an immediate emergency on solving productivity shortfall (no idea where this would lead, but is a huge issue in the UK)

3. shift to nuclear power, PPP initiatives to set up numerous small nuclear power plants

4. enforced minority non-voting public ownership of all companies over a certain threshold (5% to 10%)

5. introduce a health MOT, annual check up focused on early detection and correction of diseases.

6. create a committee to rank the utility of degrees by demand, only fully fund degrees which have economic demand.

7. devolve planning and development rules to county or lower level.

8. redraw primary and secondary school syllabus to focus on computing, sciences, and critical thinking.

9. liberalise employment laws for smaller companies (10 people or less)

10. require all political parties to issue a one page, legally binding summary manifesto, where any pledge failed to be delivered on could result in legal ramifications, especially if found to contain false information. parties could then choose to issue really waffly non-committal one-pagers, which would let the electorate best judge who actually believes what they are stating to be true.

extra - legalise the herb... :viv

Your final point would put tories in prison permanently

Your final point would put tories in prison permanently

lol, added bonus?

for real tho, easily one of the safest pain killers in the world, way less dangerous than prescription pain killers of similar efficacy IMO when used correctly.

VIP culture rules! I get everything the rest can go to hell! Nepotism zindabad!!:))):))):))):)))

A few things to start off.
1. Ensure the transformation of foreign policy from security centric to economy centric
2. Tech friendly policies
3. Broaden the tax base
4. Smaller administrative units; new provinces
5. Devolution of power

Forcing rape victims to carry babies to full term seems extreme to me.

Assessing each situation means a lot of court time and by the time comes for the court case the baby will have been delivered anyway.

So there has to be a blanket rule of 12 weeks or whatever the local legislature chooses.

For a country like Pakistan we need policies that:

1. Reduces unemployment
2. Increases export
3. Increase literacy
4. Fair judicial system
5. Women's rights
6. Abolish child labour

Nevermind. I could go on forever.

I don't think anything can be done about the UK. We are an increasingly irrelevant island, an American vassal that's been aimlessly drifting along for decades. Unlike the post-WW2 generation, our politicians are only fixated by the next election than building long-lasting structures.

I'd add to some of the sound suggestions ElRaja made:

- A total rebalancing of the UK economy away from financial services and an overleveraged property market. Basically, make Levelling Up more than a cheap slogan.

- Significant investment in road, rail and broadband funded by wealth taxes with strict delivery targets.

Another symptom of our national decline is how infrastructure projects are often bogged down in endless bureaucracy and come in overbudget. China built the biggest airport in the world in less time and cost than Heathrow's third runway !

- Abolish the House of Lords.

- Introduce a Federal System. The UK is one of the most overcentralised countries in the world. Empower local people - they know what's best for their communities not Oxbridge educated civil servants in Whitehall. Every part of the country should be covered by a combined authority with a directly elected Mayor.

- More home international cricket on FTA TV. Perhaps my first and most pressing priority :))

We can remake the UK but we must -

Get PR
Get a written constitution
Replace the HoL with an elected upper house

Closer ties with the EU are a must - at the very least, we should rejoin the Single Market at the earliest opportunity. We can continue to be a US vassal, or a driver in Europe.

the last point is the biggest fundamental issue, I've been following british politics for 20 years, and never have i seen the electorate as disconnected from politicians, zero faith, zero expectations, tacit acceptance that they will continue to fulfill their own ends.

private school > oxbridge >spad > mp > cabinet with zero real world experience.

preach brother, and to paraphrase id like to know that if I'm unhappy with my local government, at least i can walk or drive to where they live so i can egg their house. local accountability is far more effective, and the smaller scope of local politics is less likely to attract career politicians imo.

What would've been your policies?

Yes, if your govt had unlimited resources then most of it is possible.

I would add a few for a country like Pakistan and they should sit on top of the list before anything else,

1 - Invest heavy to find better technology in desalination on an astronomical level . And thus provide an abundance of fresh water for agriculture and to the public.

2 - Invest in agriculture technology to increase the production by 10 folds and hence reduce the inflation on food items and produce enough domestic product to export.

2 - Turn 220 volts into 110 volts all over the public and domestic housing and Invest heavy in solar energy to obsolete load shedding.

100% zero emissions vehicles all over the country. All automotive vehicles on the public roads must be electric only.

And after I provide the above two pieces of carrots, I must dangle the following sticks on their heads.

3 - IMMEDIATE Capital punishment with no chance of appeal for rapists, pedophiles, and abduction of kids for human trafficking, when proven guilty based on DNA and/or other undeniable evidence in a fair trial.
Murderers would have the option to try the Qassas n diyyat.

4 - Strongly recommend Capital punishment with an option to appeal when anyone is found guilty of an act of corruption that effects the rights of another person, and/or the state’s assets. Any demand of bribery or kickback for doing a legal or legit work for another person.

The right of appeal in these incidents should be to opt out for 50 whips in the open public.

For smaller offenses, a donkey ride around his residence.

Once a few heads are rolled and a few are shamed, I am sure we will SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the corruption, that is THE BIGGEST problem of Pakistan.

5 - Religious education to kids AND adults MUST BE 100% approved by the state sponsored guidelines.

And these religious guild lines and religious education should have a heavy focus on
a - Living the life of honesty, b - Developing patience,
c - Be forgiving,
e - Be generous,
f - Avoid arrogance, be meek n docile. If you have sinned then first make up with the person who you hurt and only then ask forgives from God.
g - Be kind to your parents, children, females, animals and the environment.
h - Be moderate in everything you do and NEVER go on any extremes.
j - Avoid wasting the resources.
k- honestly pay full zakat that you owe every year.

l - Achieve and then keep cleanliness not only on personal and home level but to you street, mohalla, city and country level. (It’s half of emaan yet the country looks like a giant trash-pile)

m - And then, support it all by try your best to offer 5 times daily salah. And if you can, practice fasting and go to Hajj.
—————

This is part of the core of our deen. You don’t need a whole of other deeni practices to get some sorta godforsaken spiritual elevation and/or book a guaranteed spot in Heaven.
Islam is all about trying your best to do what’s good, avoid what’s forbidden, and then hope for the best for the hereafter.

All these piri mureedi, Shia Sunni barailvi, deobandi, harri pagri, safeed pagri, yellow pagri, AND ESPECIALLY, the Aashiqan-e-rasool (saw) groups will not only be banned but promoters and participants of such group should faced severe punishments. This jahaalut and political based groups in the name of religion must end.

You do not need any of these religious based khurrafaats and groupings once you follow ‘a’ through ‘m’ as above.

— Federal UK

— Decentralised authority

— Elected local mayors/governors

— Monarch removed from lawmaking process

— Abolish HOL; elect an upper house (Senate)

— Reduce number of MPs to 500, or 550 maximum (…and keep First Past The Post!)

— Written constitution: checks and balances on Executive power

— Retain submarine based nuclear arsenal

— Larger home-based defence force, fewer deployments

— Steer clear of EU membership but consider joining the Single Market (@Robert… I partially concede!)

— Universal Fibre Broadband, paid for by government

— Reintroduce public ownership of energy, utilities, post, bus networks, and rail

— HS2 across the UK

— Free school meals for all children up to 16

— Statutory maternity pay for 12 months

— 15 free childcare hours for all children from the age of 12 months upwards

— Increase Universal Credit by £25 per week

— Lower tuition fee cap for universities

— Majority fan ownership (50% + 1 rule) of football clubs

— …and more England home international cricket on free to air TV :))

James, agree on nearly all counts.

We would have to ask what the constitutional point if the monarch is if they cannot sign off legislation.

Single Market access would at a stroke

- fix NI situation
- fill skill shortages in NHS and agriculture
- restore profits for exporters to EEA
- restore JIT supply chains
- help struggling farmers and fishermen
- restore food security
- cut the spiralling price of food
