If you were MS Dhoni, would you quit as India's ODI and T20I captain?

Under Kohli as a full time skipper, India has won 5 back to back test series including in SL and a home series vs SA and now England - three things which Dhoni did not manage to achieve as a Test skipper.

Our ODI/T20 teams on the other hand have had a struggle under Dhoni in last 12-15 months and at times gives you an impression of not being able to play at their best hampered by the leader's own form and perhaps stagnant leadership.

Dhoni's now been a T20/ODI captain for 9 years, thats a long long time for an Indian skipper. As great a captain and performer he's bene for us, now's the right time for him handover the reins to Kohli and let him build a team for 2019 WC with 2017 CT being the first big opportunity.

If Dhoni does not quit on his own, I wouldn't mind BCCI nudging him to quit. Ganguly was nudged by Srikanth to quit, same happened with Sachin and Sandip Patil. Can MSK Prasad (lol) do the same with Dhoni?

He did quit tests which is more than enough for now imo,Kohli still needs to do more to be able to captain LOI teams ,the ability to handle pressure and create plans also lets not forget Dhoni is an amazing keeper in LOI we don't have a replacement for sharp mind now and much depends upon Champ trophy next year.

I would like him to quit but I would also want Kohli to stay away from the ODI captaincy until 2019.

Assuming Kohli and the board manage Shami and co's workload well, we have a chance to have our best test team ever over the coming years.

Are there any other alternatives?

Dhoni is an unbelievable tactician on the field. The best there has ever been.

But when selecting players he doesnt experiment much. HE is happy to stick to Axar Patel, Rahane, Mishra etc when he has a few other options and young batsmen to try. If he can start trying the youngsters things could be different.

How about the one vs England in 2008? The one where a Sehwag assault in Chennai ensured we chased down 380+?

Aah my bad, I thought MSD was not yet a full time captain by then.

The point was Kohli has achieved things which we did not do post 2008.
