What's new

Imad Wasim stars with 117* as Pakistan defeat Kent by 100 runs in tour game [Highlights #223]

Yasir Shah has been smoked for 45 runs in just 4 overs (with a wicket of a nothing delivery) by a side that is placed at the bottom of group B in the Royal London One Day Cup, after being unable to register even a solitary win in 5 games.

I would pick Bilal Asif over Yasir in ODI's, that's how bad a bowler he is in the format. Period.

I hope mickey finally comes to his senses after seeing yasir being taken to the cleaners by this depleted kent side. Even Malik is bowling better than him.I hope this puts a nail on the coffin to has yasirs odi carrer

Players like Yasir will keep getting selected as long as we have people like Inzi as selector and Micky as coach. Even if Yasir gives 50 runs they will defend Yasir as bad day.

Everyone one else are bowling at 5 per over and yasir's there bowling at 11.

I was thinking the same thing his stats are too good too bat at 7 . I would bat him at 6 and add faheem to the 11 as an bowling allrounder team will be more balanced and our power hitting will improve somewhat.

I just realised Imad averages 40 in First Class cricket with a double century and averages the same as Umar Akmal in List A cricket

Faheem needs to work really hard on his batting. He looked good initially but his batting now has been on the level of a tailenders..

If Faheem worked on his batting over the past two years we could have had the following

1.Imam Ul Haq
2.Fakhar Zaman
3.Babar Azam
4.Haris Sohail
5.Sarfraz Ahmed
6.Imad Wasim
7.Faheem Ashraf
8.Shadab Khan
9.Hasan Ali
10.Shaheen Afridi
11.Mohammad Amir

make that 55 in 5 overs, is the 100 on? what do ya guys reckon.

Didn't expect yasir to get spanked this badly considering how good a performer he is in the test arena.

I don't think yasir will get another game.

With Inzi and Micky you will never know. If his inclusion in team based on behind door arrangement he may even replace one of Shadab or Imad.
I love yasir for test but not lOI.

I'm pretty sure Mickey + Sarfraz's thinking is to give him enough overs to prove himself and they're hoping he comes good.

This is turning out to be a joke, and if they persist with him it might become an unbearable one pretty soon.

People living in Lala land if they think Yasir will be dropped after this match. Both selector and management knows his fitness condition and lack of ability in LOI but still he keeps getting selected.

Most likely Yasir will not ball today anymore but with that 1 wicket he will be selected later matches.

I still think Faheem makes in to the 11 purely as a bowler and an pinch hitter who can make quick 25 to 30 runs but yeah if he can improve his batting and work hard for a month Pakistan's chances of winning world cup will increase and by the way this is a very strong 11 and if mickey puts up this 11 I see us going to the final, we have batting all the way down to Amir, barring afridi.I still don't think Harris won't make it to the 11 cause of the valuable EXPERIENCE Malik provides to the team.

If this team is thrashing Pakistan bowlers , imagine when guys like Butler , bairstow , Roy , Morgan bat :))

Lol at you trying to make pakistani bowlers look bad.
Yasir shah 60 off 6. The rest have bowled well.
Sorry mate that this attempt of yours was a fail.

At International level Faheem has done nothing with the bat , not even one substantial innings. Anwar Ali at least can hit quick 20 - 25 runs. Pakistan missed the trick by just projecting Faheem as all rounder , Amir Yammine should have given more opportunities , He is far ahead in batting than Faheem. Pakistan required a batting all rounder at number 7.

Yasir is part of Pakistan bowling , cricket is a team game , you look at what a team has achieved not what individuals do .

If Dhoni or Ganguly was the captain , they would have bowled harris sohail and Fakhar Zaman 3 - 4 overs every game in last 2 years , and then would have gone with 2 bowling and one batting all rounder plus 2 specialist bowlers and the above two as part time.

Unfortunately Pakistan management wasted all opportunities , because they never have long term plans.

Definitely in the middle overs... Our management is clueless.

What would the Pakistani playing XI look like under Dhoni or Ganguly?

In English conditions , Pakistan should have picked up a spinner who can bat , that would make a good combination with Imad in case shadab is not fit .

Fakhar
Abid Ali ( WK )
Babaar
Saud Shakeel
Harris
Hard Hitting finisher
Amir Yammine
Imad Wasim
Shadab
Hassan Ali
Afridi

How would bilal asif do ?

See if you want to have Bilal Asif in the team , you need to have played him for last one year at least , and make him work on the skills you require. Every player should have a specified role. Bilal Asif could play as a batting all rounder . If I were coach I would ask him to work on his batting , and probably play him at number 4 - 5 sometimes , to give him more overs to bat and develop his skills.

I would expect him to bowl around 4 - 6 overs each game at least.

Great selection.. thanks Inzi and mickey for replacing Shadab with Yasir who from now and than proved that he is a nothing LOI bowler.

Today reaffirms that he is not good enough against a club side that is at the bottom of the domestic one day league

But... Imagine if he gets a five fer now.

Yasir into his 7th over now. 6.1 overs 75 runs. Going for a ton. Already at a ECON of 12+

Butler , bairstow, roy, Morgan and stokes would be hoping to make a record ton

Yasir will play , because they have not left any other option. Pakistan selection is mostly pre determined .

In that case I hope that shadab becomes fit before world cup really a sad situation that we haven't produced a limited overs leggie beside shamans,PCB really needs to work on this aspect.

Shadab is a better batsman and fielder as well.

Fakhar Zaman should have been bowling for last 2 years , now he would have become a part timer at least

Yasir is not a one day bowler. He should not have been selected for WC.Let us hope Shadab recovers in time.If he doesn't then another spinner should be selected before the deadline.Amir or Hasnain should have been selected to play in today's match.

The weak links in our team showed themselves today. Don't forget that we were 164-5 until Imad rescued us.

Idk why Harris Sohail is not bowling in this game.

They have been under bowling him for long time , any other team would have bowled him for 4 - 5 overs in all games , that is how Dhoni made yuvi as 6 - 8 overs bowler .

Good start, let's see how they end the tour of England.

Alex Blake’s big-hitting innings of 89 proved to not be enough for the Kent Spitfires as Pakistan recorded a 100-run win in their opening tour match in blustery Beckenham.

Spitfires lost openers Sean Dickson and Zak Crawley within seven overs, both to Faheem Ashraf. Dickson miscuing to mid-on while Crawley edged an expansive drive to the keeper.

With nine of his side donning beanie hats to stave off the cold, Yasir Shah, Kent’s overseas professional for 2017, sent down a first-over long-hop that Adam Rouse obliging pulled straight to deep mid-wicket.

Playing on his home-town ground, Blake formed a useful fourth-wicket stand in tandem with Robinson that added 132 in 17 overs. Blake muscled a season’s first 50 off 31 balls with three fours and as many sixes and was only 11 shy of a century and had six sixes when he skied a return catch to Hassan Ali.

Robinson followed soon after, caught behind off Assad Ali for 49, then two more deliveries from Yasir led to the demise of Shane Snater and James Harris with consecutive deliveries as the Kent tail fell.

Due to their lengthy injury list, Kent had been granted ECB permission to field loan players Harris, the Middlesex seamer, and Netherlands paceman, Snater. Spitfires also gave a first team debut to teenage Kent Academy graduate, Jordan Cox.

Batting first after winning the toss Pakistan’s left-handed opening partners Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq made up for a five-minute rain delay by cantering to a 50 stand in only 6.4 overs.

Imam was gifted a life with his score on 21 when keeper Rouse, Kent’s acting captain, downed a diving, leg-side chance off the bowling of Fred Klaassen as the batsman aimed to glance.

At the other end, Fakhar posted a chanceless 50 from 39 balls with six fours and a six but, after a 10-minute rain interruption, Imam went after edging an attempted cut against Snater to Rouse, stood up to the stumps.

Left-arm spinner Imran Qayyum made good use of the wind to strike with only his fifth delivery from the Beckenham End. Drifting the ball in from outside off stump, he bowled Babar Azam off his pads to make it 123 for two.

Qayyum removed Fakhar for 76 when, in attempting a reverse sweep, he was well caught overhead at short third man by Snater, then touring captain Sarfaraz Ahmed departed for 10 when he chipped a dipping delivery into the hands of mid-off.

Shoaib Malik (4) followed suit in Qayyum’s next over when the 25-year-old spinner pitched one on middle stump to beat the defensive prod and hit the top of off stump.

Haris Sohail and Imad restored Pakistan’s superiority thereafter with a sixth-wicket stand worth 139 in 19 overs. Haris reached his 50 from 51 balls with three fours and a six, while Imad passed the milestone at a run-a-ball with five fours and a six as Qayyum finished with four for 45 – his best in List A cricket in England.

Haris went three runs later after clipping a drive to long-on.

Fred Klaassen got a deserved late scalp having Faheem caught in the deep by Cox off a sliced drive, leaving Imad to plough on to a 73-ball century with 11 fours and three sixes that set the hosts a mammoth pursuit at a run-rate of 7.18 an over – a chase that proved well beyond them.

Malik proving why he averages 13 in England.

Can’t we get rid of him?

Much love and respect to Abdullah719 for compiling highlights.

Thanks for the video highlights.

Many lovely shots from Fakhar, Haris and Imad.

Babar and Malik dissapointed getting out to the spinner. He bowled well though.

Yasir Shah almost completed a century against a weak opponent.

Some 360 degree shots from Ronaldo. He is our 3 Dimensional player.
Btw was that Matthew Wade as Keeper for Kent?

Great hitting from Imad. I've been saying again and again he's our only AR and he needs to bat at no.7 and play Hafeez at no.6 by dropping Malik.

They'll have to eventually if he keeps failing.

If they want him for "experience" he can be the 12th man.

Funny how people wanted him to captain the side after the Pink ODI against South Africa.

He should only play against minnows during the World Cup, imo.

Are manoeuvres being made for Haris to cement his place in the XI, and then for Hafeez to come in for Malik... :shrug

this is perfect scenario.we can only afford one of malik, hafeez . on current form i won,t mind hafeez at 6

We can't afford to have Malik, Hafeez and Sarfaraz in the same team. Sarfaraz is captain so he's guaranteed to be in the spot and hafeez is better than Malik so Malik needs to go.

This game shows why Pakistan need to keep Haris at 4 because unlike Hafeez/Malik/Sarfraz, he is another reliable batsmen who can play a long innings and keep the innings from falling apart.

With Malik extremely poor track record in England, I think they need to try having Hafeez at 6 instead.
