A lot of journalists have commented that not once has Imad ever approached Babar Azam with advice on field settings or tactical bowling changes during the KK campaign in the PSL. Neither has Babar approached Imad either. Is this a sign of obvious tension in the camp where Imad is not happy with the KK captaincy being taken away from him?

I also find it strange that Babar the captain is standing on the boundry in the final overs. Shouldn't he be fielding in the circle so that he is better able to communicate with the bowler. When Jordan was getting smashed against Khusdil, Babar should have made an effort to atleast speak to the bowler and buck him up. A captain has to be proactive and not sit on the field with his hands in his pocket or with slumped shoulders

Why should he?

Babar is a nepotistic appointment as Pakistan and KK T20 captain. One below par season and they remove a proper captain who is far more educated than Babar, and also has more personality/charisma than Babar will ever have in his life

The team comes above individuals.

The team comes above individuals.

Then why is Babar never putting the team above himself?

Why is he intent on ruining Fakhar’s career as an opener and today through Sharjeel at 3, but not himself?

When has Babar ever put the team above his own position?

Imad is a much better captain tactically than Babar. Imad is also a toxic individual who is insecure about his position in the Pakistan team so hinders the development of young spinners.

Imad also creates cliques within the dressing room and only mingles with the likes of Malik, Wahab, Imam, Babar and Amir. Though he gets along with Sarfaraz as well from their U19 days.

Imad's behaviour against NZ when Shadab was captaining is a prime example of why he should be kept away from a leadership role. He threw an on field tantrum to undermine Shadab's authority since he might have considered himself to be the next captain after winning the PSL. Even Hafeez called out his behaviour on the field.

Imad might present himself with a lot of faux bravado but as captain he hides himself with the bat and ball and under utilises himself. So while he may be a better captain tactically than Babar he is a horrible person to have in a leadership role himself.

Then Imad would be targeted for trying to influence Babar and putting pressure on him.

Either way, Imad will be made the scapegoat.

Babar just isn't a good T20 captain at all - period.

The same could be said about Babar though. He bats in the powerplay because it’s easier instead of doing the tough work in the middle order?

Agreed. Issue is Babar only seems himself as effective during the power play unless he's willing to play in the failsafe position the way Australia use Smith in case of a collapse. Don't think he has the tactical acumen to make that switch nor will his pride allow it.

Pakistan is now stuck with Babar as captain for the foreseeable future unless Ramiz realises he's not suited to the role which is unlikely since Ramiz isn't the best at reading the game himself evident from his below par commentary.

So the only hope I have is that this abysmal season with Karachi helps Babar introspect and develop as a captain tactically. From what I've seen he's created a cohesive dressing room environment for Pakistan hopefully he can build a leadership group with Rizwan and Shadab to help him in crunch moments.

Imad is arrogant and a cricketer who has no real great talent

Babar Azam is aloof and bonga but not arrogant and talentwise 100x more than Imad

Imad really thought he is a better captain than Babar? He sat Rizwan out for the season for someone like Chadwick Walton and then let Mohammad Haris go. He is really living in world of his own.

If this is the case then Omad doesnt deserve captaincy

Imad was 100% right to let him go. Rizwan isn’t the attacking opener or the middle order hard hitter he needs in his side. He is a poor man’s Jos Butler and Imad did the right thing. Good for Rizwan that he found a side that could have done with him, it’s not like anyone else were desperate to sign him up in the draft besides Multan!

Babar hasn't asked for advise and neither has Imad given advise. Both are stuck up thier own ****.

What kind of love do you have with attacking openers???? The most attacking openers and players play for islamabad and look where they stand on the points table? Why dont you understand that it is about balance and results???

What kind of love do you have with hard hitters and openers man?? The most agressive openers and hard hitters play for Islamabad and look where they stand at the points table! Why dont you understand that its about balance and results and not about brainless hard hitters who will be spectacular but will just win 3 of 10 matches. Why didnt England or west indies win the t20 world cup then? Its time to get mature my friend it is not all about excitement and entertainment

Well said, Imad is a very deceptive and toxic character. His behavior with Shadab was for all to see.

If you’re talking about the incident in NZ, he was upset with the fielder letting the ball go for 4, but everyone keeps saying it was directed at Shadab when it wasn’t.

I once saw Imad in NZ arguing and leaving the field when Babar was captain. There are surely some issues there. I don't consider Imad as a national team captain material considering that he is a bits n pieces player and his place in final 11 is not secured in my book. Rizwan is a good choice for captaincy. Shaheen is also good but fast bowlers have injury issues so its not a good choice.

Imad has tons of captaincy experience starting from leading Pakistan under 19 in WC. He is more educated and confident person and has played far more franchise T20 cricket than Babar. He is a more useful T20 cricketer than Babar is , so it does not make any sense to remove him and replaced by Babar, who is not a T20 player and not a captaincy material even for a school team .

Result is there for all to see.

Imad is not fit to tie the shoe laces of Babar Azam who is a possible ATG. Babar took his team to semi finals and the dressing room under him looks better than ever. May God save us from fickle fans like you.

Rather than response like " not fit to tie show laces" and " Imad is a toxic and deceptive character ", try to put some substance, stats or cricket related knowledge to your response, I'm sure you can do better than that. Unless you hangout with Imad frequently , don;t know how you know what kind of person is he ?

It’s perfectly fine one will end up or has the potential to end as an atg or a Pakistani great while the other an average cricketer who no one will know when he retires.

He's been a better performer than most of his team-mates at KK this season.

I'm sure he was disappointed at being replaced at KK as skipper and no doubt I'm sure he's very annoyed at the selections and how the draft went. It's a results business and he will look at that 1-9 win/loss with some embarrassment.

Also he seemed to be down the batting order even when he was batting well, which must have been frustrating.

Imad wasim has done ok.Keeping the runs down but hardly looking threatening and batting down the order when he should be batting up the order.

Imad has so much personality and charisma that not only should he be offered the Test captaincy, but also a sponsorship with Kleenex

we have all seen the type of character imad is undermining shadab in NZ, players like that are only worthy of dramabazay and not worthy captains

A comp to fergot for KK. They looked hardly interested in the tournament, Imad himself dead quite average, hit a few runs at the end when they were already out. Some drastic changes will be needed. KK need some planning if more teams are added to the PSL, it think they may go down even more.

Imad Wasim should consider himself lucky that he was not benched and told not to turnup with the team like Sunriders Hyderabad did to David Warner. Just because you get sacked as captain does not mean you sulk and stop contributing to the team and don't help the new captain out. As a player he is extremely hit and miss, he fires in one game with the bat and then goes missing in the next 15. He doesn't pick up enough wickets with the ball.

He has badly underachieved and sadly because he is a permanent selection in our ODI and T-20 team for a long time, he stopped working on taking his game to the next level a long time back.

Imad Wasim is not a captain material, he once shouted and left the field when Shadab Khan was leading the side.
Clearly he thinks he is top quality allrounder but in my books he is a burden in playing XI, niether proper batsman nor proper spinner :babar

Imad should take a leaf out of Shan Masood's book.

Shan was was replaced as a captain by Rizwan last season, but still Shan behaved and performed like a professional. Now, he's being considered for the NT.
Imad should also respond like a professional rather than taking it personal.

Imad has nothing to feel aggrieved by. He needs to watch what Sunriders Hyderabad did to David Warner.
