Imran Khan’s attendance lesser than PM in NA

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has attended more National Assembly sessions than Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan.

Nawaz Sharif has appeared in 16 percent gatherings as compared to Imran Khan who has attended just 6 percent gatherings of parliament.
According to the data released today it showed that a total of 383 sessions of parliament were conducted since 2013.

During same period, Nawaz Sharif appeared 61 times in NA thus marking absence in 321 sittings whereas Imran Khan appeared in 22 NA sessions.

Moreover, opposition leader Khurshid Shah appeared in 273 sittings of NA. He did not attend 102 sittings.

Awami Muslim League’s chief Sheikh Rashid also appeared in 241 sittings whereas remained absent in 142 others. Mahmood Khan Achakzai appeared in 309 sittings and missed just 74 sittings thus marking highest score with 81pc attendance.

Likewise, interior minister appeared in 169 sittings and remained absent in 214 sittings making it 44 percent attendance. Defence minister with 47 percent attendance appeared in 181 sittings and remained absent in 202 others whereas railways minister with 49 percent attendance appeared in 188 sittings while remained absent in 195 others.
Similarly Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Shah Mehmood Qureshi with 48 percent attendance made it 182 times to NA sittings while remained absent on 200 sittings.

Worst record was shared by Pakistan People Party’s (PPP) Faryal Talpur and independent lawmaker Sardar Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar.

Mahar only attended 4pc sittings of NA while Talpur managed to attain attendance percentage of 9 only.

Article is a month and a half old but I doubt the trend has changed.

Why does Imran Khan not prefer heading to the National Assembly as he should, being an elected representative?

Progress? Economy is going down the absolute drain, load-shedding is still there. Progress. Only progress is they've been looting more money

So IK is a terrible person but why has the PM missed 84% of the sessions? Why does he not hold cabinet meetings or never hold press conferences? When was the last time you heard him answer any questions from anyone? What is he scared off, surely it cant be Panama, afterall he had all the paperwork.

problem is that the jahil dukaan daar politicians would rather make roads and win votes that way then discuss domestic and foreign policies

You guys need to head over to Islamabad and see the lodges these guys get. The parliamentarian lodges where these guys live after winning is right next to the national assembly. Yet no one bothers to go.

I think they were also about to create an underground passage to make them attend but the idea was abolished as then these guys wouldn't had to face media

The reason no one goes is simple, parliament is irrelevant. Decisions are made by the Sharif family and their coterie of crooks,You had the bizzare situation where the SC had to order cabinet meetings. BTW being one of the resident Nooras on the forum, maybe you can explain why NS does not hold any press conferences and if has in the last year can you give me a source.

My friend your criticism was fair and on this issue anyone criticising IK and others is right but my question was that as a Noora, how do you rationalise that PM of country does answer any questions from anybody for over a year what's he afraid of?

So IK is wrong on this issue but NS has missed 84% of the sessions as the PM and remember IK is not the official leader of the opposition. But maybe you can explain why NS has not any questions either in parliament or in a press conference for more than a year. What's he scared off? IK is a leader so he is not interested in attending such sessions.

NS attendance is better as he had to attend the sessions during PTI's dharna (when PPPP saved PMLN govt) = he had to attend the session to defend his money trail..

Also all he is doing is to protect corrupt PM and send references to ECP/SC against those who question PM's corruption. In short when the moderator of assembly is not fair then what do you expect from such gathering? NA is mostly only used to trigger fights and war of slurs. It's waste of time to go to NA composed mostly of corrupts and election riggers.

Time is given based on your representation in NA and if I recall IK has always been given time even though he is not leader of opposition.

I have always said this is a very valid criticism and Imran Khan's response has not convinced me to date. He raises valid points in regards to meaningless debate and incompetent speaker but he MUST attend regardless. His presence makes the parliament much more credible, Nawaz Sharif can be excused for his lack of attendance to some extent but Imran Khan must attend more often.
