LONDON: PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif berated ex-prime minister Imran Khan for backtracking on every promise and said the PTI chairman broke the back of Pakistan's economy, so there was no reason for a foreign conspiracy against him.

"Were you involved in holding an atomic blast? Why will there be a foreign conspiracy against you?" Nawaz asked ousted premier Khan as he addressed a press conference alongside PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in London.

Nawaz — who was removed by the Supreme Court from the prime minister's office in 2017 — said during the PML-N's government, the country's economy was moving in the right direction.

"But now we will have to repair the damage done to the economy," Nawaz said as he stressed that ousting Khan from power was crucial for the country's development.

He also claimed that there has never been such a hostile political environment in Pakistan as there was during PTI's tenure.

"Khan promoted the culture of hooliganism and immorality."

Noting that there was an enormous challenge facing the new government, he called for joint efforts from all the parties to resolve Pakistan's issues.

"We need to work together as Pakistan saw the worst of times during the four years that Imran Khan was in power [...] he took U-turns on everything and always did the opposite of what he vowed to," Nawaz said.

Taking a jibe at the PTI chairman, Nawaz said that Khan had claimed that he would take his own life before approaching the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for financial support.

"But we did not see him take his own life till now," he said.

Concluding his bit, Nawaz thanked Bilawal for visiting him at the office and also informed journalists that they would hold another meeting tomorrow — but provided no details about it.

Billo sitting with the same guy, who called his mother horrible names and dispensed photoshopped photos of hers via government helicopters.

Rightly said that Politics does make strange bedfellows....

Rumours are King Noora’s diplomatic passport will be cancelled by Pakistan’s High Court. This will make him an overstayer in the UK. An illegal immigrant.

Lol. Priti patel, a secret ally for the Mohdi Rss extremist government will make sure Nawaz chorr sharrif will be well looked after.

Didnt Billoo accuse Nawaz of accepting funding from Osama Bin Laden to overthrow his mothers govt. The guy cannot fall any lower if he will forget all these things.

This might be lowest point in PPP recent history where they are bowing to orders of PMLN. Once a real democratic movement of Pakistan is now a supporting actor to PMLN's politics.

It's really funny when corrupt politicians adopt a self-righteous posture and claim the moral high ground - in an attempt to both divert attention from themselves and brainwash the masses.

We see Boris Johnson doing it all the time. But the unfunny reality is that these morally bankrupt individuals destroy their nations through greed, envy and lust for power.

Billo the beghairat sitting with a man who called his mother a prostitute.

True, all these PDM supporters have a deep rooted connection with India as it is. Some worked there, some have land there, etc.

LONDON: PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif Friday said he never thought Pakistan would get into the situation where it is today, vowing to "fight till the end".

Speaking to journalists after the National Security Committee (NSC) concluded that no foreign conspiracy was hatched against former prime minister Imran Khan, Nawaz said that the truth always comes out and “truth is coming out now; however, today, only 5-10% of truth has been revealed.”

Blaming Imran Khan for his dismal performance during his three-and-a-half-year tenure, Nawaz said that former finance minister Ishaq Dar built the economy but “this man [Imran Khan] destroyed it."

The PML-N supremo further accused [Imran Khan] of “committing atrocities” in the name of Riayasat-e-Madina.

“He has damaged the country to an extent that he should be seen as an example. He [Imran Khan] does not believe in anything, neither the Constitution nor the law or the Parliament," he said, adding that the PTI chairman should have accepted the no-confidence motion against him.

“Why did the Supreme Court have to give a decision.”

Regarding President Arif Alvi not administering the oath to the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other federal ministers, Nawaz questioned: “If you are the president of the country, how can you not perform your official duties?"

“I will continue to fight till the final victory of democracy,” he reiterated.

Shedding light on the foreign funding case against PTI, Nawaz said: “If the verdict in the foreign funding is announced against the PTI, then the party would be banned,” he said, urging the people of Pakistan to think about the background and upbringing of Imran Khan.

ISLAMABAD: Supreme leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in their meetings in London have agreed to implement the left-out clauses of the Charter of Democracy (CoD), signed by the two parties some 16 years ago and to finalise a roadmap for the future with the consensus of all democratic forces.

According to a statement issued by the PPP on Saturday, both Mr Sharif and Mr Bhutto-Zardari had discussed “ways forward” after a constitutional victory for democracy, the rule of law and supremacy of parliament”.

“The agenda (of the talks) included completing the unfinished business left on the CoD as well as a discussion on the broad roadmap for the future with consensus of all democratic forces,” says the statement, adding that it was also agreed that a high level summit is needed to brainstorm the path ahead.

“The immediate goals include repairing the rot across the board. There was a strong realisation that the people of Pakistan have suffered greatly at the disastrous economic mismanagement and unprecedented incompetence of the PTI government, all of which needs to be addressed and repaired,” it says, adding that the “joint goals will focus on reversing in phases the drastic economic slide that Imran Khan has taken the country down on, the terrible blunders and self-serving trade-offs on foreign policy, as well as healing the deep scars from assaults made on the country’s democratic system.”

The 36-point CoD had been signed by the two parties in London in May 2006 when Mr Sharif and former PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto were living in exile during the military rule of retired Gen Pervez Musharraf in the country. Through the document, the two parties had admitted their past mistakes of dislodging each other’s governments with the support of the establishment and vowed to respect each other’s mandate in the future.

An important clause of the CoD which did not receive serious attention from both the PPP and the PML-N was regarding the formation of a “federal constitutional court to resolve constitutional issues, giving equal representation to each of the federating units, whose members may be judges or persons qualified to be judges of the Supreme Court, constituted for a six-year period”.

After the creation of the constitutional court, the scope of the work of the Supreme Court and high courts would have been limited to the hearing of regular civil and criminal cases.

Despite staying in power for a full five-year term after the signing of the CoD, both the PML-N and the PPP also ignored the setting up of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. One of the objectives of the proposed commission was “to acknowledge victims of state-sponsored persecution, targeted legislation, and politically motivated accountability”.

“A Truth and Reconciliation Commission be established to acknowledge victims of torture, imprisonment, state-sponsored persecution, targeted legislation, and politically motivated accountability. The commission will also examine and report its findings on military coups and civil removals of governments from 1996. The commission shall also examine and identify the causes of and fix responsibility and make recommendations in the light thereof for incidences such as Kargil,” reads the concerned clause of the CoD.

‘Politically motivated’ NAB

The leaders of both parties openly admitted that they committed a mistake by not disbanding the infamous National Accountability Bureau. In the CoD, the two parties agreed to replace the “politically-motivated” NAB with an independent National Accountability Commission.

Another important clause mentioned in the CoD, which remained out of the sight of the two parties, was the constitution of a National Democracy Commission with an aim “to promote and develop a democratic culture in the country and provide assistance to political parties for capacity building on the basis of their seats in parliament in a transparent manner”.

The leaders of the two parties admitted that they had committed some mistakes in the past, but claimed they had respected the most important clause of the CoD which stated that no party would become instrumental in dislodging the elected government with the connivance of anti-democratic forces.

Seems like these two parties will be bedfellows for a long time. Both know they can't take on PTI individually. Smart move and hopefully they show such competence in actually managing the country's affairs

Not to be pedantic, but the word is "immorality" (without the T).

They had to gang up.
It was about survival.
The thought of facing jail or even the noose is enough to make you take desperate measures.
This whole thing has been about self preservation.

The US took advantage of this.

Sorry, not kept up to date with Sher's adventures since he was in power, is he back in Pakistan or still residing in properties he bought in England? The only place I know he won't be welcome (as a citizen) is India so I know he's not in Mumbai.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has lashed out at former prime minister Imran Khan, accusing him of playing with national interests and damaging the country’s foreign policy for political gains like a “reckless driver”.

“No politician has ever stooped so low like Imran Khan and his minions are using childish tactics after losing power,” Iqbal said while addressing a press conference in Lahore on Sunday.

“Like a reckless and drunk driver Imran Niazi rams his political car into the country’s Constitution, state institutions and Pakistan’s national interests,” he added.

The minister alleged that PTI chairman Imran Khan was damaging the country’s foreign policy and other national interests “to keep his failed politics alive and satisfy his ego”.

"Strong economy is strong Pakistan and that is only possible when we align ourselves with the global economy," Iqbal said, adding that the country’s economy can never proposer by severing ties with other countries.

The minister also claimed that the PTI-led government also slowed the progress of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Pakistan’s relations with the European Union, the United States and even brotherly Muslim countries came under strain.

“We do not want Pakistan to be like Cuba or North Korea. We have to put the country on the path of development, like Malaysia, Turkey, China and South Korea."

Responding to the ousted PM allegations that a foreign conspiracy was hatched to topple his government, Iqbal said that the National Security Committee has twice stated that as per the probe carried out by the country's top intelligence agencies, no conspiracy has been found in the diplomatic cable.

Iqbal said aid that the top courts were opened at midnight to bar the ousted premier from violating the Constitution.

He said that Imran Khan is now making the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) controversial by demanding the resignation of its chief as “he knows the expected verdict in the “foreign funding case”.

To question, the federal minister said that the new government will not make any baseless case against its opponents.

Speaking about other issues, Iqbal said that the new government is working tirelessly to solve the issues faced by the country.

He said that work is being done at a fast speed under Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's leadership. He said that Pakistan will keep moving forward and we will make the country's economy strong again.

He added that the PTI-led government did not launch work even on a single industrial zone under CPEC out of nine, which were supposed to be completed by 2020.

He said that the European Union granted Pakistan GSP Plus status. However, Imran started to challenge the EU to save his politics.

He said that US markets provide a huge platform for the progress of the country’s businesses and Pakistan needed access to US markets as well as in several sectors.

Nawaz is absolutely correct. The younger generation of Pakistan especially PTI supporters have become rude and obnoxious. They have no respect for others and are content on acting like maniacs.

That's funny because I'm pretty sure there was a video posted on here where Nawaz's wife or daughter ( can't remember which it was) got some goons to slap around some shopkeeper for some trivial reason.

You mean like this. These PTI supporters eh.

Where is gullu butt when you need him!

Well they still have Punjab Police loyal to them even after 3.5 years of PTI rule. They can still gun down 22 innocent people and still not be held accounted for.

Hussain Haqanni is like a bad penny who stars in all the worse events.
Started off part of Jamaat Islami/IJT, lota'd to IJI/PML then ends up in PPP. And now sitting in the US plotting with all the bad actors against the land that sustained him.
Allah will deal with transgressions...
