Pakistan's new Prime Minister Imran Khan will reportedly make Saudi Arabia his first official overseas visit.

According to media reports in Pakistan, he will undertake the visit in his role as PM in the first week on September.

Reports suggest that Khan and First Lady Bushra Bibi will also perform Umrah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque in the holy city of Madinah.

Recently, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke to Khan over the phone, and congratulated him on his victory in the country’s parliamentary elections.

Pakistan's new Prime Minister Imran Khan was sworn in at a ceremony in Islamabad on Saturday, officially taking over the reins of power in the nuclear-armed country after his party won a July 25 election.

The ceremony at the President's House in the capital marked the end of decades of rotating leadership between the ousted Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), punctuated by periods of army rule.

A tearful Khan, clad in a traditional black sherwani, smiled as he stumbled over some of the words of the oath administered to him by President Mamnoon Hussain.

Ideally should be a whistle-stop tour. NO money should change hands going by past experience with Saudi funds into Pakistan.

Not bad. Whatever you say about the Saudi regime, the country holds a high importance and is a muqaddas mulk.

Tell them to stop starving Yemen. 10 millions are expected to starve in next 1 year. Its too big a number to be ignored.

Same message for Iranians supporting war in that region.

True. Iran is also to be blamed for backing militant outfits. I pointed out Saudi because they are going to inhuman lengths in order to win the war. Bombing of key ports from where food and supplies reach the Yemeni people is literally killing hundreds of thousands. We dont want to sit back taking sides of either Iran and Saudi while millions die of hunger especially when we know it is preventable. I know i am trying to make it sound simpler than it is, but by God, we gotta put it out there in simple terms. These people have to be saved from starvation. At any cost, most of which is overcoming inflated egos in the region.

for all the bad feeling they engender on discussion boards like this, the Saudis seem to have firmly good political relations with all the important nations like America, UK and India. I guess Pakistan has to do the expedient thing and get on board with the allies who are on the right side of world leadership.

Aren't you from UK or India? Both are doing business with Saudi.

Stop with that failed statement. Yes I am from the uk. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Just because I ain’t blind and call out the wrongs that’s are being done don’t hate.

I’ve always been vocal of the mistakes the UK government has made so much that it was me against the entire class in school and sixth form.

So I’d do the same with my other half Pakistan.

So why is it wrong for Pakistan to maintain diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia when the UK ( our country of residence) does the same?

Makes you seem hypocrite when you openly point out one and leave out the other. No one knows you personally here.

I literally just said it isn’t I’m confused did you read what I posted? I’ve always maintained my stance on how the UK has played a significant role in destabilising the Middle East and parts of Asia

Are you reading what I am posting or are you just blindly typing and covering your eyes and ears as usual? I’ve just said I openly criticise the UK and the parts they played in destabilising parts of Asia and the middle east in real life in debates.

As I’ve said a million times, I take the good and criticise the bad. Regardless of my alignment to the country.

You don’t need to know me personally.

They have to pay the bills and Saudis sadly have been the paymaster for a long time.

Wait why is PM performing Umra on government expense. Not good from Immy. We didn't vote for him to be like Nawaz Sharif and perform Umra on government expense.

How do we know you've always maintained that stance against the UK, US or India? The only time you've piped up is on this thread about Pakistan and Imran Khan. We can only go by what you do say bro, we aren't mind readers.

Countries like ours ( the UK) provide us with a good life, and often it's by doing trade with regimes like Saudi. Easy to moan and complain but at the same time we want the benefits of doing trade internationally.

It is up to Saudi whatever they do in their country nonetheless they are important to us. He also should visit Iran, Afghanistan and America soon as well.

I am reading what you have written.

Why is IK extremists and the PM of UK isn't while both countries have business deal with Saudi?

This is what you have written

Extremist supoort extremists

UK isn't labelled as extremists.

Your criticism isn't based on good and bad, rather, anything that has to with Pakistan.

You just didn't think it through before you made your initial comment.

Good decision, but follow this visit with a trip to Iran (which has shown a lot of interest in Imran Khan in order to get him out of the US-Saudi orbit), and then Afghanistan and China, to cement our geopolitical nexus and give the right signals to all parties.

But what exactly is a umrah?

Basically you circle the Ka’ bah seven times, perform Sa’i which is walking to Safa and Marwah (two hills in Grand Masjid) seven times back and forth, and the Halq which is to shave your head (male) or cut off one inch or more (women) at the end.

Thanks a lot.

You probably didn’t realise what a 2 faced hypocrite you were when you typed that message.

Just some advice, think clearly before you type so you don’t look so foolish next time.

If it was to troll and get responses I’m sure you didn’t envisage getting humiliated so try harder on that front.

How am I a hypocrite when I’ve called out my homeland for their destruction to Asia and the Middle East?

You sound like someone who has no understanding of democracy and wide arrays of opinion.

I hope you’re happy with the army’s choice of prime minister and hope he don’t further destroy the Pakistani economy.

I stand corrected on you putting wool over your eyes and fingers in your ears.

I’ve loterally called out the uk for their destruction of Asia and destabilisation of the Middle East.

The UK label ain’t my choice. I can’t dictate how the media report things and what people believe. I can only cite my opinion.

Just stop you’re embarrassing yourself.

Waiting on your response where you disregard everything I say and come back with a silly response and label me this and that and this.

I apologise and am new hear I can’t cite all
My views in a post when they ain’t relevant to the OP. But yes I agree we do live in the UK and Can honestly say I live im the best location in the world. However the UK deals and endeavours are questionable ands or I can do is point it out and express it’s wrong.

You have corrected yourself after being called out.

But I appreciate that you have corrected yourself.

But I appreciate that you have corrected yourself.

And I stand corrected.

I can’t list my entire political stance and opinions in a post going against a OP. If I was around here for a while and then over time had them stated and then went against them, then yes i would be in the wrong.

In this case I am not as I’m not changing my stance or correcting myself but stating them for the first time.

Try again

THE UK? BEST IN THE WORLD? gimme a break.

I don't think Saudis and India have much of a relationship. They give us oil, we give them dollars. End of the story.

Have to please the masters first and get their approval before laying out the foreign policy. Next two trips should be made to USA and China.

Didn't they give Modi the highest civilian award tho?

I didn't know they did.

Anyway, beyond these gestures, I haven't found much warmth in the India-Saudi relationship. Indians generally think of the Saudi ruling family as exhibiting the worst features of a tyranny and religious fundamentalism. Whichever party they may belong to, most Indians to some extent respect the idea of democracy, that the party that wins elections should rule the country.

Another aspect of the India-Saudi relationship is the large Indian labor which works in Saudi Arabia, again something that hasn't really improved the opinion of either one of the other.

India is also well aware of the Saudis' funding of madrassas which have provided many terrorists for attacks on India.

So the often claimed status of Modi as a friend of muslims is according to you eye wash.

Saudi ! = Muslims. Get that into your head and stop worshipping them. They are NOT superior to you. They are just one country and don't represent ALL Muslims.

We take their oil and pay them $72 per barrel. They are also home to a section of Indian NRIs. That is the beginning and end of the India - Saudi Arabia 'relationship'.

If I was anybody - Muslim or non-Muslim - I wouldn't be brandishing around a KSA stamped civilian award anyway. It's hardly a flattering achievement.

........................The Indian ambassador, who wished these cadets good luck, told Arab News: “This is aimed at boosting bilateral military cooperation between the two friendly countries.”
It is the first time Saudi Arabia has conducted pre-commissioned training for their military cadets in India, the envoy said.

He added that this military training and defense education is a follow-up to the Indo-Saudi defense cooperation memorandum signed during the last visit to India of King Salman — then crown prince, deputy premier and minister of defense — in February 2014, to expand defense cooperation between Riyadh and New Delhi.

During that visit, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on defense cooperation to deepen bilateral ties as part of their strategic partnership. The MoU allowed the exchange of defense-related information and military training and education. The first indication that the two sides were serious about cooperating came in 2012 when the first meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia joint committee on defense cooperation took place in New Delhi and both countries expressed interest in defense exchanges and increasing military-to-military contacts.

There goes the "India is aware of Saudi funding of madrassas theory"

India wants to be a global player and you can't become one if you don't have guaranteed supply of oil. Saudi is the largest exporter and one of the largest global investors. Good luck playing hard-ball with them.

Saudi Arabia has been the largest donator to Pakistan. Makes complete sense for it to be Imran's first visit.

Lol a PM is always gonna get criticised on his first foreign trip no matter what

Generally it's either China or USA. And both trips get the usual criticism ('please masters', 'lapdogs' etc). And now Saudi and same thing

Lose-lose situation
