Statistics gathered by The Spectator Index have listed 12 world leaders in order of their popularity on Twitter. The Spectator Index displays statistics related to politics, economics, history, military affairs, sports, science and technology. Prime Minister Imran Khan has risen in popularity, emerging as 9th in the rankings.

Pakistan at WAR: India to FIGHT BACK as ceasefire deal violated
After a political struggle in Pakistan of more than 22 years, the cricketer-turned-philanthropist-turned-politician has garnered a Twitter following of 9.4million people.

Mr Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) rose to power after winning the 2018 elections.

The cricket legend is known for his charitable works, primarily the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital which was established after Pakistan won the 1992 Cricket World Cup.

Mr Khan founded the hospital with the vision to make cancer treatment accessible to every citizen of Pakistan, regardless of background.

It places Mr Khan below Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum - Vice President of the United Arab Emirates - who has 9.6 million Twitter followers.

Topping the list with a staggering 59.5million Twitter followers is US President Donald Trump - which is no surprise given the frequency of his tweets.

Whilst Theresa May is 11th on the list of 12 with just 5.4 million followers in comparison.

Bottom of the rankings is President of France Emmanuel Macron, with 3.7million Twitter followers.

President Macron's popularity had been on the decline following a series of 'yellow vest' protests across France.

These protests began targeted at fuel taxes but soon transformed into calls for social justice.

The full ranking of World Leaders is as follows:

Twitter followers (million)

1. @realDonaldTrump - Donald Trump (US President): 59.5

2. Narendramodi - Narendra Modi (Prime Minister of India): 46.7

5. @SushmaSwaraj - Sushma Swaraj (Minister of External Affairs of India): 12.4

Twitter following is not a good indicator at all. Does anyone really believe Trump is the most popular leader in the world? He is the most followed on twitter because of his antics. Also because he's POTUS. Similarly Modi has high numbers because India has a massive population. Even those who don't like Modi likely follow him on twitter. Same goes for all the world leaders.

Sheikh Rashid has to be the most interesting case on the list. He has 9.6 million followers which is almost equal to the total population of the UAE and ten times the local Emirati population if we exclude the immigrants.

Wonder who these millions of followers are?

It is of course not surprising to see the three major cult leaders in the world - Trump, Imran and Modi - featuring in the top ten.

Everyone recognises Sheikh Rasheed for who he is. The biggest turncoat politician in Pakistan history and an extremely cunning opportunist who switches allegiance at the drop of a hat, but his personality, antics, and the way he carries himself have made him extremely popular and lovable.

Haha, the post was about Sheikh Rashid al Maktoum of UAE. I doubt if our own Sheikh Rashid even has a twitter account let alone 9 million followers.

Our Sheikho has around 5 million followers on his official Twitter account. In comparison, someone like Bilawal Bhutto has 3 million, which simply adds to the point that I made in my previous post when I incorrectly assumed who you were referring to.

Fair enough. Have to say I am surprised by this. Not by Sheikh Rasheed's popularity but by his popularity on twitter. I would have expected most of his following to be among the less tech savvy sections of society compared to Bilawal.

I still dont get how Sheikh Rashid-al-Maktoum has more followers than his country's population though.

Imran Khan's cricket fans also add to his twitter fan base.

What qualities and acheivements Bilawal have? both are nothing special though Sheikh is minster at present.

Billos great quality is that he steals from the helpless poor and to Mamoon rates anyone that does that because he sees corruption as a right of the elite.

It is not about qualities and achievements. Bilawal carries a massive name, he is the Chairman of PPP and is very likely to be PM one day. The fact that Sheikh Rasheed is still more popular than him says less about Bilawal but more about the biggest lota in Pakistan history.

Well, Dubai is a major tourist destination and the business hub of the Middle-East. He is also a very popular figure among the expat population. Keeping all of this in consideration, it is perhaps not very surprising to see that he has over 9 million followers.

Power of Indian lady but what can u except from a country which don't respect women .. btw India also have lady defance minister

Pretty stupid post. Indians respect women more than Pakistanis.

Mate, all of subcontinent is sailing in the same boat in this case.

Bilalwal is likely to be PM one day??? I hope I will not be in pakistan if a curse like that happens.

It is inevitable. This PTI drama will not last forever - they are extremely incompetent and this tabdeeli rubbish will run its course soon.

PPP’s future is brighter than PMLN. I have personally decided to vote for them in 2023 inshaAllah.

The days of vote rigging and corruption are over.

PTI will remain in power for the next 2 elections at the minimul.

Btw twitter followers come from all over the world, this doesn't mean anything in terms of popularity.

What we do know is Imran Khan is respected worldwide by other leaders. They know finally Pakistan doesn't have a criminal in charge.

Oh yes! I can predict a PTI voting drama from you in 2023 when PPP take another battering. They will lose Sindh too in shallah.

A lot of people are labouring under the delusion that PPP is a dead duck. They had no chance 2013 and 2018 because of Zardari's stint and because Bilawal was not ready. However, they will have a crack in 2023 and will be the biggest threat to PTI's reign of fascism.

Bilawal as PM of our country. :)))

Enough PP for today.

PM Imran Khan, Jacinda Ardern named among Time's 100 most influential people of 2019

Prime Minister Imran Khan has been named among the '100 Most Influential People' of 2019 by Time magazine.

The list, unveiled on Wednesday, has chosen the "influential people" under four categories: leaders, pioneers, artists, icons and titans.

Journalist Ahmed Rashid wrote the following regarding Prime Minister Khan for Time's 100 most influential people issue.

"Pakistan is at a critical crossroads, and the man in charge is the closest it has to a rock star. Imran Khan captained the team that won the 1992 Cricket World Cup, built a world-class cancer hospital in Lahore, then a top-notch university for kids who could never have dreamed of attending one. Twenty years ago, he entered politics—a dirty business in Pakistan at the best of times.

"Now he is Prime Minister of an impoverished nation that cannot pay its bills and is dependent on handouts from rich neighbours like China and the Arab Gulf states. Critics say Khan is too close to the army and Islamic fundamentalists, and chooses advisers poorly. Driven by fierce ambition, he can be cold and calculating. But he still generates the broadest hope among young and old that he can turn Pakistan around, and help make South Asia an ocean of peace rather than a state of permanent conflict."

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who received global acclaim for her handling of the aftermath of a terrorist attack on two mosques in Christchurch, also made it to the annual list.

Among the other leaders on the list are US President Donald Trump, Pope Francis, American Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller, a former FBI director who headed the two-year Russia election meddling probe, also made it to the list as a 'leader'. A redacted version of the report into the investigation — which had cast a cloud over Donald Trump's presidency — is expected to be released tomorrow.

What has the Falooda wala given you a share?

PPP is finished outside Sindh. No way, are they going to win Punjab anytime soon. Why would a Punjabi vote for Bilawal rather than let's say Mariam? There is just no incentive.

Are you crazy? PPP are the most incompetent party in Pakistan. Have u forgotten the dark days of 2008-2013? We were at our lowest. Asif Zardari had no problem with America bombing our country and therefore terrorism was at its peak. PML-N atleast improved the overall halaat in Pakistan even though they also looted quite a bit.
PML-N>>>>>>>>PPP

I'm sorry but anyone who supports PPP needs to get their brain checked. Ironic how Mamoon calls PTI supporters junoonis who defend imran no matter what when he supports the party that has looted sindh to levels which cannot even be described. Mamoon if you hate KPK so much why dont u move to sindh? Go live in Larkana where you can worship Bhutto in the slums whilst Bhutto is living in a palace.

Absolute rubbish report - Spectator Index has no clue.

The most popular leader in world by some margin is our SHeikh Hasina - won 99.95% popular vote in her 3 seats and her party has won 91% seats, 89% popular votes .......

Lol and she won with what opposition?

By 2023 the only people who will turn up to vote for Bilawal's PPP are the ones who ll be getting free biryani with chilled pepsi to drop the votes in.

PPP choor dakeet mafia corrupt party days are numbered and one can only laugh at a statement that Bilawal will ever lead a country. Before becoming a leader he needs to get the statement right that its "mein Pakistan ka PM bano ga", not "mein Pakistan ka PM bano gi" which he loves associating himself with.
