What's new

India [195/4] defeat Australia [194/5] by 6 wickets to clinch T20 series

If Pandya doesn't win it today, all his antics in the field today would look really foolish.

Well played India. Getting 110 in last 10 is pretty amazing that too in Australia.
3-0 to India in t20is.

2-0!

Excellent series for India. T Natarajan the biggest positive for India.

Hardik's runs in ODIs and T20Is, always a treat.

Well played Pandya. India wins their 10th consecutive T20, some kind of record, I think.

Good chase by India but who were these Aus bowlers? LOL, looks like they picked them up off the streets of Sydney prior to the game.

I guess Aus being charitable since their players get big money from the IPL so can't let Indian go empty handed. Thus T20 series given to them due to the mediocre Aus bowling lineup.

The more serious ODI already won buy Aus and without Kohli, tests will also go to Aus.

Finally Pandya first ever match winning knock btw what I consider a match winning knock is while chasing under pressure like today and @mesozic I told you India's gonna butcher these no names lmao Australia such a trash t20 team

i am gobsmacked why the hell the bowler was bowling around the stumps to Pandya ? i mean the bowl will angle towards his strong side i,e cow corner. absolute stupididty

We will get to know who these Australian bowlers are if and when they play against Pakistan in Australia. LOL

And Imad and Shadab are not good enough to tie Pandya’s shoelaces. You got your answer today and with a bitter taste.

Pandya is not even a bowler anymore this is what you call a match winning innings btw not the ones you mentioned and write essays about well done Pandya

We came back "empty handed" in 2012 and 2015. There was no IPL back then?

I know it hurts but atleast try to make some sense.

India can only play the bowlers they are presented with, no? It's not like Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood haven't gone for runs in this series. So we can't be sure that they would have defended this total. Also, India is also missing some of its key bowlers, so fairly balanced teams I'd think. Maybe maybenot. Nevertheless, it was a good game, I am happy India won. Thoroughly enjoyed my Sunday afternoon.

Pandya's back is still hurting which is hampering his off side play. Anyone that have followed him over the years would know he is an even better hitter. Hopefully after last T20 he takes a good break and nurse his back. No need to play the Eng series at home and skip IPL too unless. He will be an asset for T20 WC and also can be handy no.7 in test team as an all rounder when we tour England in August.

Sean Abbott's last T20I against Pakistan...

overs - 4
Runs - 14
Wickets -2
Economy - 3.5

Man of the Match

But but he's street bowler from Sydney. :))

What a chase by India. Pandya finished the game well. You have to give him credit for that. Natrajan looks a good find.

Virat Kohli as captain has won the T20 series in Australia, England, New Zealand & South Africa - First Indian captain to achieve this.

Hardik Pandya has scored 268 runs in the 5 matches of the Australian tour so far in 220 balls which includes two 90s and a 42, two of the knock turned out to be match winning.

There’s one simple rule to earn big bucks in IPL. Play big against India and prove yourself. India does not care if a player does well against BD, Pak or WI. Beating India is the gold standard to impress IPL teams’ management.

Tye and Shoelace etc will be cursing themselves for missing the 2021 gravy train. anyway, they have some more chances in this series.

India in last 18 T20I series:

W, D, W W W W W W, D, L L, W, D, W, W, W, W, W

India is a better T20 side than Australia even with full strength Aussies

India is also better than Australia in odi outside Australia. In Australia at full strength on pancakes it's still very close depending on toss. India already beat Australia in England and in India when both teams were at full strength.

Truth is spoken.

Wrong if anything Aussie players have to play extremely well vs India to get an IPl contract.

Aussies are ever charitable. If anything India prepares fair pitches on Indian soil to make short format competitive. Should just prepeare Turner's or dead slow tracks instead and see how the Aussies fare there.

Australia don't have any excuses today!
They're playing in their home conditions against India Z team still couldn't beat them!.

It's bean 10 years since Australia defeated India in a T20 game in Australia. Pretty sure this same team could still whitewash some fake T20 teams that toured there recently.

Tosses are matter in OS, Proved again.
Win the toss..win the match
Teams won all the matches after won the toss

Banter aside.... this was barely an okayish win for us against this Aussie side missing almost half their first choice players. Yes we too were missing a few but we should have won comprehensively in both these games.

Right
OS wins are always special, good win but no need to chest thumping.

Really enjoyable finish for the viewers. Pandya definitely has improved his overall batting in last year or so. Not bowling much and more time to focus on his batting during rehab could have possibly done his batting some good.

So we defeated Eng, Aus and NZ at their dens in last 2 years,:kp I like way how we own this format and still pretty chill and lowkey about it.

Wow how good are these 2 teams even while missing big players. Competition and Entertainment a plenty!

Rohit
Rahul
Kohli
Iyer
Pant
Pandya
Jaddu

That would be our best batting line-up. We are missing Rohit, pannuati, jaddu. So?

Please don't add pant in the list, I would like to see Samson getting as many chances as he got in white ball cricket, hell I would rather have Ishan Kishan over Pant in the middle.

We lost one last time (in 2018).

Series was drawn 1-1.

Virat Kohli, Indian skipper: We played really well as a team in T20 cricket. The fact that two of our established players are not playing and to win like this, makes me very proud of this team. Everyone has played 14 games recently (in the IPL) and they know their plans. Natarajan was outstanding and Shardul was good today. Hardik finishing off the game and Shikhar getting that fifty, it's a whole team effort. The reason for him (Hardik) to come into our team in 2016 was pure ability, he now realizes that this is the time to establish in that (finishing) role and play match-winning knocks for us. He plays with all his heart and he certainly got that competitive nature about him and also has the skill to execute that at the highest level. That's (next game) gonna be very exciting. In the tough moments, when so many people backing you, the next game is going to be exciting. It (scoop over fine leg) was a bit of funny moment, surprised myself there, I will send AB a text tonight and see what he thinks of it.

Even in tests, Pakistan was invited just for a 2 match series. There are reports of WTC getting scrapped , if that happens then Australia might not even invite Pakistan for a test series. :ssmith

That would be great for Pakistan, we can avoid further humiliations. Pakistan needs a break from touring Australia for 20-30 years.

Overseas captains leading in Test, ODI & T20I series wins in Australia

Faf du Plessis
Virat Kohli

exactly this. i am telling you, we barely even try in t20 and we win. ridiculous talent.
in odi we can improve a bit but we are still easily a top 2 side in odi too and thats our weakest format by far.
in patta shootouts toss seems to make a difference. check india's record when they win tosses on pattas. We dont lose except the 2017 big one vs champions trophy. guess what the mistake was? batting last.

This thread is about Australia v India only - Clear?

Congratulations to India and have to say - I am damn surprised & IMPRESSED; didn’t expect this. Chasing almost 200 against them in Australian grounds is praise worthy. And, first time in this series a team has won chasing.

If I had known that India will command such a fight (should have expected - it’s I think 10 wins at a stress for them in T20), I would have definitely watched some part of the T20s, which I think is an useless exercise at International level and both teams are providing that with their playing XI selections.
