Nagpur stadium is getting on in age but the outfield is magnificent. At par with the best outfields in AUS and NZ (ENG grounds aren't impressive) and they've laid down a marker for other grounds in India.
 
Nice confidence building for Team India ahead of Champions Trophy.

Mohammad Shami should be playing only in tests (even if its 1 or 2 matches in a long 5 match series) if his fitness is little... 2023 WC should have been his last! (deserved the cup, but batting let us down!)

Yes, the stadium is aging and it has pillars. New stadiums in India that have come up since don't have pillars obstructing the view.

I am not saying it's a bad stadium, just that it's old design. The outfield is a soothing sight though.

That prediction was for England brother.

India are obviously better equipped to handle these conditions. England are playing just 1 spinner.

However if there's no dew this could still be an interesting game. England 20 under par I feel.

Honestly watching a full ODI is a big effort.

The T20I series even with blowout matches was fast and fun
 
Other than Salt and Iyer brilliance today no period of match was entertaining

England’s main problem is having a captain whose heart is more than in IPL, then representing England. The sooner they get rid of Buttler, the better.
 
Brainfade Sharma flops again with the bat. Hardly surprising. But a good one by Iyer. Always believed that kid had it in him. The question now is whether Iyer, despite his form, will be asked to step aside to allow that other celebrity non performer to take his place. Travesty if they do that.
 
Gill hasn't looked convincing at all. These are supposed to be his peak years but he just doesn't look up for it.

IPL is a slow poison.

It reduces intensities of non-Indian players.

Boards should stop giving NOCs for IPL for 10-15 years to fix this problem.

England bowled really poorly tonight. The ball was doing a fair bit under lights at the start. There was swing, there was variable bounce. But for some reason, England decided that bowling bouncers was the only way to go on this pitch.

Just because Iyer struggles against short-pitched bowling doesn't mean he will struggle with bounce on every wicket. Poor games awareness by England. Let India run away with the game despite those early strikes.
 
Gill is never going to be an all-out aggressive bat just like KL. Both have a tremendous 5th gear but they rarely bring it out. Jaiswal has that missing ingredient and it has affected his red ball game a touch. The other extreme is Abhishek who seems to have made white ball his career priority.

We need to see more of Riyan who I believe can be a Travis Head like bad but in the middle order, both white and red ball.
 
Odi is gill best format .he is the only bright players in this odi batting line up .
 
all about perspective, used to feel one day as the shorter format when I was growing up...
Now "feels" as long as a test.

I dont think we should stop giving NOCs. Just kick out players in the national team who are not up to the mark.

Do you know the difference between a match referee and an umpire?

There is a difference between concussion substitution and on-field umpire's decision.

Concussion substitution rule states the substituted players must be a like-for-like substitution. Javagal Srinath was being unethical/incompetent when he allowed Harshit for Dube.

As an on-field umpire, Sharfuddoula hasn't done anything unethical.
