India [265/3] beat Sri Lanka [264/7] by 7 wickets in their final group stage match of 2019 World Cup

177/4 after 37 overs.

Their biggest obstacle will probably be Bumrah. He got 4 overs left.
 
Jadeja looked sharper and superior to Kuldeep today. Interesting see Australia also going with traditional Lyon over Zampa. Back end of the tournament, with baked pitches, surely finger spinners are the way to go?

Never knew why they persisted with justin bieber,lyon is not only a quality spinner but decent bat as well

Yea, Kuldeep looks out of touch. Jadeja finishes his overs very quickly.
India should get Jadav in place of DK next. India should find a middle order bat who can bowl a few overs like Raina.

They have gone to Lyon because unlike our leggies he wasn't picking wickets while giving too many runs. Jadeja is a defensive bowler who looks gold when the damage has been done earlier but ask him to do the attacking and it ends up 0-45/50.
 
194/5 after 39.3 overs. They should see off Bumrah (he got 4 overs) and attack in the remaining 6 overs.

They haven't but if the aim is to take wickets playing jadeja unless it's a turning used pitch is the wrong way to go.
 
If SL can win this, it will be massive.

Still a bit surprised how they lost to South Africa and NZ badly.

Pandya may not be greatest bowler (or alrounder), but if you have observed he has bowled "decently" "consistent" (mark both the words!) compared to any other 3rd seamer for India in ODIs (even 2nd seamer perhaps!) So he is doing his job as India doesn't have a better option for 3rd seamer in their entire arsenal as of now! Hence he doesn't deserve any acute criticism for his bowling, as he is already playing as the best 3rd seamer in the team (his batting & fielding are a bonus! So his batting also doesn't need any adverse criticism! The problem is with the other No.4 to No.6 batsmen in our side!) A 3rd seamer is needed in most of the matches, so his selection is justified, he is a key player (but people should not expect unimaginable things from him!)
 
Had enough of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Shami is a must for this Indian team. He is a wicket taker. Bhuvi bowls(contains) well in one match and goes for plenty in the next couple of matches. Hopefully they don't make this mistake again and select Shami in the next match. :inti

Shami is 10x better than Bhuvi. Kohli said at the toss that they are just resting Shami. No way in hell Bhuvi will play over him in the semis.

Don't you think Pandya is doing his job as 3rd Seamer (5th bowler). I know you tell Jadeja is better than him and should play ahead of him (even in terms of batting). But Jadeja can only play in place of Kuldeep/Chahal or Jadhav (if his batting is that good). You will need a 3rd Seamer (even in Sub-Continent) for LOIs... Also in batting he is supposed to bat at No.7 (he will do fine in that position), but he is promoted up because of the issues in our batting lineup from No.4 to No.6 (which you don't accept! Because Dhoni/Karthik/Rayudu/Shankar/Jadhav are all good for you!)

Where did I say Jadeja is a better batsman than Pandya? Apne aap hi laga hai bhai?

Pandya has surely outbowled Bhuvi here. Bhuvi averages 35 something with the ball and that is totally unacceptable for a bowler who usually bowls the first over of the inning for his team.

He is just 2 games away from getting into my list. :inti
 
Bhuvan is just a product of indian media hype....the last time he did something noteworthy was the fiver against NZ in 2016 or so at kolkatta....he's bowling 120kmph dross since then, fluffing heaps in the field, going for plenty , and hasnt sent the scoreboard on fire with his batting...dunno why our media thinks he's the next sobers/klusener...he has'nt won anything for us for loooong time.....hope we get the combo right ....ko match coming up....am no kedar fan..but in semis - he's gotta be the part time bowling option....should come in for dk and shami for bhuvan

last match for ian 'gunner' gould as ump in odi's......a fantastic ump...i cant remember any mistakes/howlers from him....he always looks in control...has a smile generally....along with marai erasmus and richard kettle should be the best in the business...what say....

Kl Rahul loves easy attacks and true surfaces.

Every batsman prefer these things but how you handle when things arent according to you preferences define a player you are, what you can become and Rahul has struggled against decent attacks and especially on slow surfaces till now in his career.
 
Mayank in the team is putting pressure on Rahul. He's back to blocking
 
I might be wrong but i feel the prob with KL is he does not bend his hips and knees enough when playing attacking shots, especially against pace bowling...he needs to lean more....its all ok on flat asian surfaces where the bounce is max hip high and less swing...but he's found out on eng/aus surfaces as he tends to reach instead of meeting the ball....but when he starts doing this...he's looked very different....

rahul may not be as good as dhawan.but once dhawan is out of picture,rahul has provided unreal support.

Never expected any replacment to do this good.if it wasnt for rahul we might would have seen many 2/1 , 20/1
 
Rahul is a class player. He has been mishandled by the management. Instead of wasting time with Rayudu, DK, Rahane, Karthik and Shankar at #4, they should have kept faith Rahul and given him a long rope.

He has only been given 5 ODIs at #4 and that is precisely the reason why it is considered a weak position in their lineup. Had they kept faith with him he would have delivered. Too good a player not to. He is quite close to India’s top 3 in terms of ability.

He should have been the first-choice #4 and backup opener at least after the Champions Trophy.

After the England game, they realized the need to score in the first 10. Rahul has been playing ok in the last two but gets bogged down all of a sudden.

He flopped in that position. But it's the manner of his dismissals that frustrated the team. A couple of pretty 4s and a million dollar shot to get out. IPL performances are the sole reason for him in the team.amd Dhawan's injury helped him
 
If Rohit can keep this level till the 2023 World Cup, he will have a realistic chance of overtaking Tendulkar in terms of number of ODI hundreds.

He has scored 19 hundreds since the last World Cup, another 19 between now and 2023 World Cup would take him to 45, just 4 shy of Tendulkar.

He is 32, so there is a big possibility that he will start to lose his touch in 3-4 years, which is why he needs to make his peak count.

5 matches are nowhere near enough to conclude anything. India have been very impatient with him - he had/has a greater chance of doing well at that position than the several mediocre players that India have tried at that position.

They were desperate to fill that position and a lot of players were tried because of that. Not to mention Rahul's reluctance to bat in the middle order. Remember Kohli giving his no.3 spot to Rahul in the England series and after the flops there he was duly dumped. He go into the WC luckily on the back of his IPL performances. I think after the WC, they will try him at 3 and Kohli at 4. That should solidify the middle order with Dhoni retiring
 
Indian openers playing slowly and not trying to up the Ňrr. Total lack of intent.

Only intent is to try get to individual 100s
