India [272/9] beat Pakistan [69] by 203 runs in the ICC Under-19 World Cup semi-final

Why do you have to bring BD into contention with Pak and Ind. Saif and Afif will only be somewhat useful in BD conditions and I have seen them in the latest BPL, nothing to write home about apart from being HTBs and not being yet found out. Apart from India, the futures of Pak and BD are really bleak.

The context was U19 WC, not IND, PAK or BD. I know these countries better than others, so it comes. Afif scored a matching winning 70 just day before yesterday against ENG team, while chasing. Rest part or your post only time will tell.

What a pathetic appraoch right from the beginning but to be honest it was expected.

All the departments in the QAE trophy have their U-19 setup as well along with regional U-19 teams.

May be, but clicking PAK players profile I don't see much of List A or FC stats. Are you sure that in those U19 "set up", U19s are playing or U29s are playing?

Dropped catches and missed runouts were the main reasons of the current situation of Pakistan U-19

Most of the PAK batsmen come for tape tennis. For us, these U19 kids do play some FC games, and few league cricket as well, particularly the batsmen, but bowlers hardly get chance because almost all the foreigners recruited in league cricket are bowlers.

:))) :))) :))) Yeah Check kar Syed1 @Rayyaman Sarfarazian92

Bloody Brilliant :14: :14:

U-19 departmental and regional tournuments are not counted in first class stats.

I think Pakistan have given up here. No intent to score by both these players.

Looking back even 200 was enough to defend. This is not an easy place to score runs as Gill made it look like.

Good gesture by Pakistani players to congratulate Gill on his century

More often then not, chasing team in knockout matches crumbles under pressure.

I mean the bat hitting the ball sound is not really sweet for most of the batsman. Timing is not there. May be they are not good enough. or May be pitch is not such a pacy pitch and ball is not coming on nicely.

I know, that's the point.

By 18/19 top kids should be part of senior team at FC level. IND has at least 10 times more player pool, still how these kids have 1, even 2 years FC experience? There is one more kid some how missed this tournament, and he is also 19/20, playing for Punjab and already has 2 scores of 250+in Ranji (a Shikh kid, Anmolepreet I believe). The point, is there is a proper phasing out - otherwise with the huge amount of players in IND (only 35/36 FC teams, compared to almost similar number in PAK), hardly any U23 players could have got into even FC teams.

Yeah keep telling yourself that. I see BD going back to minnow level once Tamim, Shakib (afraid of playing Tests) and Mushfiq retire. At least the current Pak players are much better than their BD counterparts.

We are still minnow, so no shame in that ..... but .....

None of the pakistan batsman has any sense of timing in their shot. Whenever it is on the legs they play these lofted flick like Anwar. That's a customary shot for pak openers for years. Other than that timing is awful.

The Indian senior team with all their experience crumbled just a few months back, I wouldn't write off the players so easily.

Either way, Pakistan were the 3rd best team in this competition which is a good accomplishment.

The pitch...the pitch...the pitch. But at least the PCB Chairman is lining his pockets and preparing for the PSL.

Using bottom hand more than top hand, otherwise timing isn't bad, but hitting too hard and mistiming it.

Man this is damn boring!!

I was expecting a close match but it seems this will be as boring as QF match against BD.

Yes I have to agree with that, though there were not many expectations from the batsmen as they have been lacking consistency since the start lf the tounrnument.

lol Pakistani batters are having difficult time clearing inner circle lol

They would play Afg again for #3 spot. I honestly dont think Pak19 is 3rd best in tournament.

So one gain for Pakistan. Moosa. India has Gill, Shaw, Nagarkoti, Mavi, Porel.

Nope, you are missing Shaheen Shah, Arshad was pretty impressive throughout the tournument and I wouldnt write off Rohail Nazir and Hassan Khan.

Its just not about the performances here, I am talking about potential to grow as cricketer.

pak 45/7 (21 overs)

looking at this scorecard I remember afridi's words from one of his interview..

"Sorry No talent in pakistan,, talent haai maagar intna naahi hai jitna international cricket mein aabhi demand hai....."..

Arshad is just an okay bowler. Poorer version of Rana Naved. Shaheen has lot of room for improvement.

Imagine Mavi and Nagarkotti bowling under the leadership of Starc in this year's IPL

IPL can be unforgiving. Umesh bowle very fast he was destroyed by Kohli. Dinesh Karthik manhandled Tait. They have to be very smart about teir bowling.

Afridi the cricketer should be the last to judge talent. Selected Khurram Manzoor, Ahmed, Hafeez, Malik, a 35+ Irfan, Wahab, Sami, for the W20 Cup in 2016. I love these ex-players making comments while they are as much to blame for the downfall of Pakistan cricket. I QUIT.

We are too .... Just didn't like your high uppity attitude ....

I wouldnt say that, we are no 1 in T20s and got into the semi final of U-19 world cup which isnt a big achievement as we do it more often then not and we recently won a CT. So winning a major tournament and being no 1 in any of the format is a good standing.

Apart from Musa all our players are garbage. It’s the worst U19 team in our cricket history.

MMHS what is the chance of the above joining senior team in 2-3 years

Not sure to be honest - it's not about how good you are, rather there has to be an spot open. Shaw might get a call in Test side, because opening slot is loose, but Gill is a middle order and behind Iyer, but he'll be in squad for sure. 6/7 years back, there was another fantastic kid (Manpreet I believe, 2010 WC), still couldn't make the team & his time is gone I guess. On contrary, Dhawan & Pujara were top scorers of 2004 & 2006 - it took Dhawan long, long time because of Sehwag, Gambhir, T'kar, but Pujara & Rohit made the team quickly. Three pacers, I am not sure actually they are better than what already is there. Remeber, IK Pathan was a sensation at U19 level, so was Ishant and they were physically much gifted than all 3 here. Normally, I have seen Indian pacers starts with a bang, then couple of years time decides to prolong career rather than going for pace. Not sure any of them will have long career for IND though - Agarkar was similar to Nagarkoti, but he could bat and had lot less competition. I think, 2 batsmen has the best chance here.

For Musa, it's almost about luck - whose who, so can't tell. Besides, kid looks much older than his official age, hence what we are watching might be his peak speed - if so, he won't go much further. Jamshed Ahmed was more skilled than any pacer on display today and he was 6'3"+, bowling at least 135K - couldn't find even a FC career after winning U19 WC.

Have to go to sleep, will reply to to you tomorrow.

There is not even a single characteristic of Ashad which relates him to Rana Naveed I can think of. Neither bowling action, nor height, nor looks etc. You might want to elaborate a bit.

Everyone has room for improvement but thing I have observed about Shaheen Shah is that he is going to grow into something much bigger when he comes into international level. We might see glimpses in the upcoming PSL season as well.

Shadab, Rabada and Hassan Ali are recent exapmles, they didnt have a lot of first class matches under their belt and their record was also not extraordinary but when they put their foot into international cricket there was no looking back.

Shaheen shah afridi doesn't like to bat I think. He walks off faster than a quick single :uakmal

As I said earlier dont write off Shaheen Shah, Rohail Nazir and Hassan Khan yet.

That run up, effort he puts in last stride, reminds me of him. But Rana can swing a bit more.

Hahaha I guess he realized he couldnt do much here, otherwise he isnt too shabby with the bat but you cant expect lower order to score 200 odd runs.

What attitude - should I cry? I was explaining Shafi about the expectation form U19 WCs - it's not circus that you pick 16 U19 kids and train them in a particular drill. 4 years back, I was equally impressed with Saud like this kid Gill - this kid Gill is driving on the rise with top wrist against Musa - system will groom him to do that against Strack in couple of years time - now Saud slogs with bottom hand pulling from 1 feet outside off... couple of years time, he'll try to make the team as an all-rounder .....
