What's new

India [285/7] beat Hong Kong [259/8] by 26 runs in the fourth match of the 2018 Asia Cup

Spin trio... 20 overs 1 maiden 75 runs 0 wickets. Are they really playing spin well or bowling speed/spin not accurate?

MMHS did I not tell you, if rest of world took cricket seriously all subcontinent teams ranking will be just like football?

Cricket is a bit unique, more skill and culture than physical attributes, therefore South Asian teams will be much better than soccer in cricket always, but yes, if Germany starts playing cricket seriously today, by 2035, you never know.

However, bro where is western country playing here - I see some Nizakat & Anshy Rath beating hell out of IND.

Req rate is 7.

India will likely escape.

Yeah just a matter off one wicket... but having an associate first restrict you to 285 when you were easily going for 330 and then they being 167/0 should ring several alarm bells.

In the current HK playing XI, 7 are of Pak descent, 2 are of Indian descent and 2 are of British descent, so it's not really the ROW, but it's a fair point nonetheless.

Cant believe score is 165/0. Even though Bumrah is missing this is not justified against an associate nation.

So I guess it'll be another few months until Babar gets a chance to score a 100 against good bowling.

Are there 2/3 more players in HK, who can spank 15-20 in no time? They have reached to a position that T20 tactics can win this game. 119 of 17 overs isn't that impossible.

I hav been saying this for years now.

We are winning in loi but core is rotten.

I used to make fun of Inzi but he is a million times better selector compared to the bootlickers we hav now.

Lol.

If it was pakistan on the receiving end like this? All the experts would have certified that pak is done and dusted and future is dark:dw

Oh ok yeah your right. I was just joking but you can see what I was trying to say lol.

No. I know a couple of guys of Pakistani origin who played for competitive Basketball and Football (one shared team with Jordi Alba). He almost made it to La liga but life happened. And the guy who played Basketball had one of the sickest crossover I've witnessed in real life.

Imran Khan became world's finest because he played in county and trained until his back almost broke.

In the end, what matters is talent and training to nurture that.

The one down bat Babar Hayat was being severely talked up Dean Jones in the Pak match. Jones said he saw him in the Canada league and he was a crazy good batsman. Didn't show much of it in the Pak match.

Its a matter of one wicket , the required rate is almost 7 now.

Hong Kong could have won if they restricted India to 230 - 240 . This is much bigger target

Their best bat Babar Hayat would hv a massive role to play here if they are to create an upset here.

7 run rate is nothing.

Any other decent side would coast this. The problem is the other HK batsmen may panic because they have no experience chasing such a score before.

We can now certify that India is done and dusted, and the future is dark.

We are facing a situation where we have the richest board but the worst players. That has to be the biggest joke of 'em all.

Won't, it's ODI - gives better teams enough time to make a come back. But they have done enough to impress, kudos to HK.

I saw India post 285 when they were on course for 350. Figured they would win by 130+ when i next checked the score and instead saw HK at 124-0.

First wicket down....this could be the collapse now.

174 - 12th highest opening stand in ODIs against India.

I must salute to the OP who made a thread if Captain Rohit makes IND better team than Captain Virat. We need to bump that thread - shall wee?

This is only the third time in history when india failed to take a wicket in first 33 overs.

They have reached to a level that this wicket might be a blessing - Rath was tiring, but yes still 110 to get & both spinners have plenty of overs left.

Can somebody please hit a 30 ball 50... is that so much to ask? :danish

The best bet for india is to dry up runs here. Run rate will climb and the in experienced batters will crumble in the chase. I am sensing a collapse here.

Some posters were telling us that Khaleel bowls at 90mph. He is not even crossing 140 kph.

On the contrary if HK get a couple of good overs, the Indian bowlers and captain will start bricking leading to even worse bowling/decision-making

Its not going to happen. It was always a matter of one wicket.

Yes please, the myth shatters today as well.

Nizakat Khan's highest score is a 94 against Scotland. If he crosses that in this game, it will do wonders for his confidence.

Chalo jee, was fun while it lasted. But you always expected HK to not get to a total of 286 with respect to their inexperience. Still a shameful effort by the Indian bowlers so far.

I'm more impressed that Hong Kong of all teams has made this a challenge for India. They were probably expecting to dismiss HK quickly and get some rest for the match tomorrow. Instead it looks like India will have to work for this one. I don't see HK winning but batting out 50 overs is a possibility.

India's game .

It was fun while it lasted! :yk

I am entertained. See ya all tomorrow for El Padre of all cricket games.

End of the honeymoon for HK - IND has won the game, albeit with a bit sweat.
