What's new

India [67/5] beat New Zealand [61/6] by 6 runs in the third T20I to win series 2-1

All over, India win. Terrific bowling but NZ have themselves to blame too. Some awful batting.

How have NZ let this chase slip?

:))
Chokers.

People have said our other teams were chokers, nah they weren't good enough and were beaten by stronger teams.

This side is full of players who can't play under pressure or choke when they get close.

That's two LOI series we should have won that we've lost now.

I didn’t watch India’s batting but Kiwis were really bad with the bat. Spinners were serving pies and these guys were swinging wildly in air.

Let's give the credit where it's due. India bowled better than NZ and hence the result.

Ball was gripping and turning square.

India bowled well but NZ knew the target, had 10 wickets to play with and had dew to make things difficult.

They lost this game, simple.

6 runs short with 4 wickets still left. They planned this chase extremely poorly.

CdG and Santner should have come in earlier, no question about it.

Awful from NZ. Should have won this, so many swings and misses

Good performance from Pandya. 14 off 10 balls with the bat, captain trusted him to bowl the final over, great courageous stop off the second ball of the over which saved a 4, and finally two critical run-outs. Little things which don't show up in stats often win matches.

But they never give us matches. :(

Was feeling the goosebumps with the melam(percussion) going off in the crowd !

I felt like I was at some wedding with the drum music going on.

We call it Sannayi Melam in Telugu.

Aman, tell me the purpose of Williams coming in at no.3 again and again when he's had an awful tour with the bat?

Why does he even bother playing this format?

His numbers look world class, but if you've seen him play T20s you'll know he's not cut out for it. Hopefully he realizes this and steps down.

67 in 8 is where someone like Kane should be useful. He failed big time tonight and played a big role in sinking us.

This....shingaari melam, blue sea and green fields....

Well , the only criterion for me for what is a good crowd is that it shouldn't go dead silent when the opposition gets a wkt or hits a boundary and Trivandrum passed with flyin colors.

Except for Sachin's wicket, I don't think our people bother for others. We love good matches irrespective of whoever plays it. Be it football or cricket. Only problem is only less number of games are allotted here...

Congrats to India for holding their nerve.

It's pretty evident both sides have a lot of work ahead. The flaws are there for all to see for both sides.

Just wish we were able to capitalize on it when you guys failed =\

I know it's just a T20, but I hated watching us go down like that again.

Don't care.

67 with 10 wickets is nothing. We batted poorly and should have still chased this
Tell me one Team which could have chased this score on this pitch.Might be Windies if all their sloggers get lucky.Otherwise none.It was a damn slow pitch where ball was gripping and holding on and Indian bowlers bowled according to that.

We finished 6 runs short with 4 wickets in hand after batting poorly and without a plan.

You had to score 19 in the last over and got a six when a slog came good. There is not much planning you can do on a pitch like this where ball doesnt come on to bat.You can only hope your slogs come good.

Aman is too harsh on kiwis. This was a terrible pitch for stroke makers and Kiwis played well for the most part.

Most touring teams don’t fare well in India. Kiwis not only played well but out batted India most of the times. They just lost wickets at crucial points and Indian bowlers upped their game when needed.

How can you not chase 68 off 48 with a wet ball on a small ground.

Just beyond me how bad that effort was

Not being harsh, this side is just not good under pressure.

They're absolutely no chance in 2019 or any other ICC tournaments. Going to have to count on another generation to try win another ICC trophy.

This might be out of the blue, but it's frustrating. I'm sick of us trying and pushing teams only to come off second best every time. When are these guys to get it together and get some wins together. You can take such defeats for so long before you realize your standing in the sport.

Mere bhai, this was not a pitch where you can hit through the line and trust the bounce.Ball was grippig and holding and Indians bowled with no pace and varied their lengths. On such a pitch even a run-a-ball is tough, let alone 8 per over.If you could score easily on every pitch, then we wouldnt be seeing batsmen struggling to score 100 runs on many fifth day pitches.I think you have not seen the match.

Dude, check how England and Australia faired against us and see how you guys were.Your folks were much more competitive than the other two and India is a mighty strong ODI team at home.

It's another series lost, that's coming off a group stage exit in the Champions Trophy and home defeat to SA.

Imagine if a top side had that kind of record, they would be slated heavily. We shouldn't have any lower standards particularly when we were in strong positions to win both series.

Seems as if the NZ batsmen were worried about their Batting Average than winning the Match !!!!!

How the heck do you not chase 68 in 8 overs with 10 wickets in hand... Just go hell to leather and you will get there with balls to spare.

We are not complaining, we get to keep our number one ranking. Upwards and onwards. Next step is top 4 in ODIs

Among all the non Asian countries NZ is one of the best team to adapt to Indian conditions. They were highly competitive in all departments.

There was 20% due in the 2nd hal and Kiwis should have won even if they took only 1s and 2s. Some brilliant bowling and fielding by India sealed the game, miracles won't happen everyday though. Our middle order and top order again was garbage

Pitch was too difficult to bat. Those who think that 68 was easily chaseable either did not watch the match or in case they watched the match, they failed to notice how difficult it was to score runs on this pitch. If Indian batsmen failed to score more than 67 on this pich then what makes people belive that it was easily chaseable by New Zealand. It was not a flat track by any stretch of imagination.

I felt like I was at some wedding with the drum music going on.

We call it Sannayi Melam in Telugu.

In kerala we have different Kinds of Melam, depending on the number and type of instruments and general pace of the beats. This one most probably was - "Shinkaari melam" , which is what we usually use for such occasions.

I have to say you could watch the match for the beautiful ground and fantastic crowd alone.
