Yuvi was struggling similarly before 2012 world cup.One locked clicked against England in world cup and then went on a roll.

Hopefully this knock can be something similar catalyst for Yuvi.

We still have 8-9 matches before world cup to ensure whether he is back in form either way
 
Watson deserves Man of the Match. I hope they don't give it anyone else.
 
Lol we are now the No 1 T20 team in rankings, went from 8 to 1 by just 3 wins :facepalm:

It was written in the morning and handed over in the afternoon well before the game. It was with one of the ch9 presenters all during the game. Unbelievable!
 
This 5 ODI's and 3T20Is probably have generated ACB 20 times more revenue than any other teams when they tour for full series including tests. Look at the crowd, look at the atmosphere. No wonder ACB invites India every year.
 
Dhoni giving credit to bowlers, Pandya should not read too much in to it.

It was still a counter-productive innings.

He isn't even the biggest culprit though.

I would blame Sharma and Kohli for not pushing a little harder. They had required rate below 9 and should have kept it there so there was some cushion to settle in for the middle order.

UV isn't bad per se.

The problem is he is bad at this role. He is excellent if he can get a few balls to settle in, but he can't do anything to get his eye in.

Nah.

Current Yuvi is still great when ball is pitched up. Still can smash.

Once its banged in or if perfect yorkers are bowled, he struggles.

More so than usual batsman which is why he is a liability now.
 
People need to stop blaming Yuvi and appreciate the good bowling by Watson. He was indeed bowling beautifully and even Raina was struggling. Also Yuvi was making a comeback after 2 years. You cant expect him to get straight into 6 hitting mode. Give him some time and he is a class player. As MS said this will be our side for T20WC, so we must support him.

People need to stop hating on yuvi, he still got it, you have to remember he was batting after a very long time for Indian team , his last international innings was horrendous, plus the situation he came in wasn't ideal, he was nervous, cut him some slack will ya, he still won us the game

This is not gali mohalla level cricket going on. He has been a great servant for the Indian cricket. Maybe the cleanest striker there was for us, but with his fitness level dropping, his fluent self isnt being there.. he should not get the place in the playing 11 based on his past glory.

Manish Pandey would have been ideal in his place.

I agree. Yuvi singlehandedly lost us the T20 WC final two years ago and even today he nearly lost us the match. Two shots don't absolve him of blame. Some people still think it's 2007 where he whacked bowlers left right and centre.

If there's a hint if swing or some decent offspin, hell get exposed brutally.
 
Srilanka will be without Matthews,Malinga,Mendis,Lakmal and hearth.

I know. He probably has wrecked us for the T20 wc. But you've to give it to Yuvraj. He has gone through so much in life. Fought cancer, made a comeback. Then went through the embarrassment in the T20 wc final. And it looked like it was the same today. The way he fought his demons despite being unfit was the stuff of champions. That said, I hope he doesn't go to T20 WC, he is past it..

Well..Starc's injured. Aussie selectors didn't want Cummins to have mental scars from this Indian batting before NZ tour. Hazelwood was rested for NZ test series. Aussies chose their BBL stars for T20s and got spanked.

India missed Raina in ODIs it looks like.

Dude I'm a Punjabi living in Chennai and I have always defended Yuvi here among my friends even when he was considered down during the 2012 era because it was only lack of form not lack of reflexes or his inability to hit the ball or run the 2s.

Lesson to be learnt by India!!

Not taking the third run on the penultimate ball, when it was there (& celebrating victory rather prematurely) could have cost them the game had Raina failed to connect on the last ball..

A seriously good run chase nevertheless

What impressed me the most was that despite the daunting target, they were always up with the Aussie run rate. I don't think the RRR climbed above 11 at any stage of the innings which is quite remarkable.

Tbh there was nothing to the bowling. Kohli or Raina or Dhawan would have smoked them. Ofcourse there's a chance Watson might have gotten them out but that would have been due to unforced error. Here the problem was that Yuvi was actually struggling to contend with 3-4 consecutive deliveries

That is another unfair stat because there were hardly any bilateral ODI series played by Australia till 5 years ago. They always had tri series. In fact in 86/87 I think Aus lost every match of a quadrangular tournament.
