What's new

India beat New Zealand by 178 runs in the 2nd Test

Last match ke liye phatta tayar kro ji, we want daddy hundreds :D

No Thanks. Enough of sissy hundreds on national highway pitches.

We want a green and fast track so that Boult, Henri, Wagner, Bhuvi and Shami can rip apart their opposition's batting lineups.

But given the weather conditions in Indore, one can expect a national highway

Indore is a turner if I am not wrong.

Let's go for a proper spin track.

Not rank turner nor like the flattish spin.

When did this happen in India last time?

Whats your idea of a proper spin track?

I would love to see a pitch which is easy to bat on for the first 3 days (flattish, but with a bit of spin and bounce). And it should become very spin friendly from mid day on day 4 onwards.

Ensures 40 wickets, but some 100s as well.

Hyderabad 2013

Tracks with spin from day 1 but slow spin and towards the end, it spins big.

Hyderabad 2013 was perfect. Favouring spinners a bit more but if you can play well, you can get 400-500.

Delhi 2015 eased out by the end. I didn't like that track. It should get tougher not easier by the end.

Congrats.

It was never a doubt. Only slim chance Kiwis had was to win toss, slog around 350 in 1st innings & get India caught off guard with a 200+ 4th innings total.

This is the worst era of cricket in last 100 years at least when it comes to play spin, therefore I don't see any team, even India to do well batting 2nd on remotely turning tracks.

It's mostly in weekdays & match starts at 12am, hence I hardly could watch the Tests, but going by the comments in PP, I thought the Tests were played on mine fields, particularly the 1st Test - which indicates the understanding of spin play by MODERN fans. If that Kanpur track was a "rank turner", then I am not sure what was the wicket at Delhi when Mingus put 150+ in 10 hours. And that's exactly the standard level of playing spin in MODERN cricket.

Anyone can disagree with modern logic, but I stick to my judgement - 3 wicket keepers of 90s - Mongia, Moin & Kalu will be in my Test world XI of 2016 - SIMPLY as a batsman if I am to play a Test on absolute rank turner.

Pacers ware main wicket takers this match.

Couldn't agree more.

Rankings are inconsequential. What matters is how this team fares. I like the aggressive approach of the team under Kohli. The team was very passive under Dhoni for long periods of time when things didn't go according to plans. Not a bad start for Kohli. 12 consecutive test undefeated as the captain. It's a young and learning team. The team has some chinks though. Need the top order to be more stable. The difference has been the batting depth. Kohli and the other top order batsmen need to start making those hundreds. The batsmen play a good innings but give their wicket away. Need to cut down on it. Thought the bowling was impressive though.

Another interesting conundrum is to whether go with 4 or 5 bowlers against the English. They have a very long batting order, India might need 5 bowlers but then again, the extra batsman has been very useful this series. Kohli will go with 6 batsmen I reckon.

I don't think a single Indian supporter is surprised with the reasult because we all knew it would happen. We r the best test team in the world for a reason.

India have been impressive at home lately. Their record at home since that England series loss in 2012 reads:

Aman you said Guptill was not out?

I just checked.

Well impact was umpires call so that was out.
First or second?

First one would have remained with the umpires decision - not out.

Second, IIRC was hitting outside?

The fact we won as many sessions as we have against the #1 team in their own backyard should say it all. This team is KW or nothing, and he didn't even play in this game.

May be, I didn't see that ball by ball - scorecard doesn't tell all the story. But, I don't see NZ competing with India batting second in India. However, India is No. 1 at the end of 2nd Test, not when Kiwis landed there.

1. Since Matt Henry who was Fast 18 months ago is no more fast and is Fast Medium so wouldn't this have been a Good Idea to Bring Lachie Ferguson who is Right Arm Fast and now has decent Fc Experience ?

2. Doesn't Todd Astle deserve a Test Comeback after a very Decent Fc Season on Nz wickets plus a Tenfer for NZ A Team few months ago ?

3. Collin Munro Averages 48.20 in FC Cricket with 9 Fc hundreds with a highest score of 281. He can play Test Cricket the way Adam Gilchrist played Test Cricket. Why doesn't NZC select him for Test Cricket ?

They essentially were the moment we landed.

I don't follow domestic cricket.

From what I know, Colin Munro's technique is dodgy and Henry will likely be starting ahead of Southee in the next series against Bangladesh (?).
