India close on 300/6 on Day 1 of the 2nd Test in Chennai

Rohit gone now, holed out. To be honest, he was probably out stumped legitimately in the previous Leach over, so it feels fair.

An effortless and aesthetically pleasing innings that has laid the platform for India and could even turn out to be the early match-winner.

Typical brainfade from Rohit.

The only difference is it happened on 161 and not 31 this time.

I guess third umpire just wanted to play it safe

Giving it out would have been bold and would have been in papers tomorrow :yk

According to PP Standards: That is out if India is batting and Not Out if a team is playing against India!

He is out anyways! So no news either ways! (On Indian Newspapers & PP) A dedicated thread would have have popped out on PP if Rohit went on to score 200 or 300 (how undeserving it was!)

Yes justice done

This is an interesting pitch. It seems to be very difficult to start on, but once batters get used to the turn and settle down, they can score big runs. It’s not a classic rank turning sandbox where batsmen can never get in, imo.

Good...justice done with Rahane now too. He was out before just like Rohit.

Add another sequel to the DRS Gaffes Caper video compilation.

Rahane should have been given out there as well, due to the later bounce into his glove. This 3rd Umpire is highly incompetent.

He's out now too

Indian batsmen delivering justice on thier own lol

Huge cheer for Ashwin.

500 looks out of the question now.

Days play in balance now, if england get Pant early they will see it as they have taken the 1st day honours. India can still get up to 350-400 if they counter attack.

This was either incompetence or sleaziness. Desperate stuff if done deliberately. We should be above all this in this day and age, with the amount of tech and cameras we have.

Even though Rehane got out soon after, they've needlessly lost a review. Bad!

If England can keep India under 350, they would have done well. They will need Root to produce another special innings though.

Lol yes it’s a relief, but shouldn’t be needed.

I can understand why the on-field umpires might get marginal decisions wrong in real time, but with all of this technology available nowadays, mistakes by the TV umpire have become unacceptable.

ICC should deduct WTC points from India for preparing such a horrible pitch. Had they gone with a normal pitch as in the ones rolled out in 2016, they could have pummeled England and their bowlers to oblivion and destroyed their confidence. Instead they went with underprepared dustbowl which would make Steve Okeefe a Shane Warne.
Indians would still win the match but English bowlers will have a good time and that will boost their confidence for the D/N test.

Oh my god Root even signalled that but still they didn't check. Absolutely pathetic....

Hope they fire him.

Cut the replay short , seems deliberate enough to me you can’t be that incompetent

Axar and Kuldeep are capable bats not like that dud Nadeem. Hope they stick around...

Justice done, otherwise rahane not being given out initially from leach could have been hughly controversial, also England have wrongly lost a review that could be crucial

These are different times.2nd Test on same square with just 3 days of preparation

English bowlers haven't yet conceded an extra in 77 overs they bowled today.

Cricket fans never learn!! Yet again, lots of people calling the result of a Test match in the first or second session.

See how both teams bat on the pitch first.

Unsurprising from the fans - the change. Even after only 2 sessions in the sun.

Will be delightful to watch the spirits and confidence of the team sag after several more days in the sun across the series :afridi1

incompetent is a polite word for this third umpire , you have to be downright blind to miss this.

This has to be one of the most desperate acts I have seen from an international side.

Shame on India

They get back their review

The pitches were turner even for Pak-SA tests. This pitch is not any worst than those...so not sure why ICC only need to act only against India.

Good that the review was given back. I think this is a first. Haven't seen this before an cricket game.

I put tv on and see Moeen turning it more then Warne, and this to a left hander, pitching outside leg stump.

So? What's desperate in that?

Wasn't Nauman chacha spitting cobras in Karachi too? :))

It happens when there are two games inside a couple of weeks at the same venue which is known for high temperatures. No need to throw your toys out of the pram.

You gotta be extremely biased to compare this one against the Pak-SA tests.

Yes I have also seen Pak spinners were getting similar turn on Day 1 pitch against SA and Nauman Ali was turning like Murali. Every team takes home advantage...BD & SL dont play seamers and goes for all spin attack at home. Not sure why only India takes home advantage it becomes an issue...lol.

I wonder who Moen will blame for getting smashed around right now. Usually when things go wrong for him, it’s someone else’s fault.

I take it back. It's not the wicket but some of the fans here that are disgraceful.
