Once Pakistan crossed 69 runs, I thought "thank god, at least it won't be as bad as last time for Pakistan", I was wrong.

An inevitable outcome. There is no comparison between Pakistan and India at any level anymore.

This is what happens when you neglect your grassroots.

For years we've failed to invest in coaching at school and junior age level hence why we produce such painfully limited cricketers with so many technical faults. While PCB spends so much resources on setting up glitzy events like PSL, BCCI have spent the dividends of their cricket boom in exactly the right areas such as academies and facilities, ensuring a constant supply of future international cricketers.

Hence why these Indian lads look to have a solid technical base and a calm temperament even at an early age.

Instead the only functioning academy we have is the Academy of Excuses. If we're not whining about not playing India or not having international cricket at home, we'll have idiots like Shoaib Akhtar claiming our problems are due to a lack of jazba and aggression.

All that jazba has just given more and more humiliation. We need professionalism in our set up

The batting collapse is what ruined the game. Set batsmen not making it big.

Once the chase was 3-3.5 an over all India had to do was to bide time and profit off the bad balls. Qasim, Haris could have easily stayed at the crease longer. Haider and Rohail should have aimed for centuries after crossing their 50s.

POTW. Junoon & Jazba is never a good substitute for discipline, ruthless precision & composure.

As i said before, this was only an u19 match.
Wait for Friday.

What a completely dominating performance. Congratulations India.

This performance filled me with despair. The fact that they didnt even fight, its not even about winning or loosing. Such a onesided affair. If this is where we are heading, that's incredibly worrying.

India beat Pakistan to book ICC U19 Cricket World Cup final spot

Potchefstroom, 4 February 2020:

Defending champions India defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets to book their place in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup final. The first semi-final between the two historic rivals was played at the JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom on Tuesday.

India chased down the 173-run target with 88 balls spare as Yashasvi Jaiswal cracked 105 not out from 113 balls, hitting eight fours and four sixes. His partner Divyaansh Saxena made 59 off 99 balls.

For his match-winning knock, Jaiswal was named man-of-the-match.

Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan failed to make most of the opportunity as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

Quarter-final hero Mohammad Huraira fell for four while Fahad Munir perished for a duck.

At this stage, captain Rohail Nazir joined Haider Ali and the two combined for a 62-run third-wicket partnership.

Both batsmen scored half-centuries. Haider made 56 from 77 balls – hitting nine fours – and Rohail top-scored for Pakistan with 102-ball 62.

Haider’s dismissal to part timer Jaiswal triggered a collapse as Pakistan lost their last seven wickets for 76 runs. Rohail, however, held one end together before his dismissal in the 42nd over.

After Haider’s departure Qasim Akram was run out for nine, Mohammad Haris fell for 21 while Irfan Khan, Abbas Afridi, Tahir Hussain and Aamir Ali didn’t get going either.

For India, Sushant Mishra was the star bowler with three for 28 in 8.1 overs. Kartik Tyagi and Ravi Bishnoi took two wickets each for 32 and 46.

Pakistan will play the losing team of the second Super League semi-final in the play-off for the third place in Benoni on 8 February.

Scores in brief:

Pakistan U19 172 all out, 43.1 overs (Rohail Nazir 62, Haider Ali 56; Sushant Mishra 3-28, Kartik Tyagi 2-32, Ravi Bishnoi 2-46)

India U19 176-0, 35.2 overs (Yashasvi Jaiswal 105 not out, Divyaansh Saxena 59 not out)

An inevitable outcome. There is no comparison between Pakistan and India at any level anymore.

You should be so happy today, i wonder if you have bought all the Mithais of Peshawar today?

Can't you tell from his post? I mean fair play to him he is a die hard Indian fan and feel ashmed to admit it. I don't know why?

You become numb after sometime. We have become used to losing to top teams at all time.

So not a single wicket take bowler? Apart from Haider, Haris, and Qasim none have any potential.
Ijaz Ahmed needs to be kicked out. The guy was never good player to begin with and how can he teach batting.

They don't have the skills

Exactly!!!! I used to disagree with Mamoon and think we are not that bad but if we keep getting players like these and loosing by 10 wickets on regular interval then our future is bleak.

They don't have the skills

We will keep fending for excuses and not admit the facts because they are hurtful.

We are simply not good enough, player for player. It is pure lack of skill.

Panicstan at senior and junior level.
A country where ppl are making excuses of Hafeez and Malik to be still playing cricket in the most irrelevant format, simply doesn’t have the right priorities.

Is there anyway to become a cricket force again?

To be honest can you really see shaheen, naseem, hasnsin, rauf being replaced by any of these? NO

The gulf between the the two nations keep growing day by day. You'd expect Pak , a country with such a huge Cricket crazy populace to produce a few handful of young cricketers to compete with India.

There has to be something wrong at the grassroots level and it's better to identify that and take measures to counter rather than just hiding behind the lame wall of excuses like "mentally weak" and "can't handle pressure" etc.

Pakistan is producing decent cricketers which is why we made it to the semis in the first place but we're doing it as well as India.

No. For a country like Pakistan , who has all the potential to be the second biggest cricketing power in the world with a massive fanbase and tremendous history , you've got to do a lot better than just producing "decent" cricketers.

The fact that they're not even in the top 5 in Test rankings (don't really care about odi ranking though) is pretty much a farce on the part of PCB and it's management.

Our group was very easy only hurdle was Bangladesh. Then we played against Afg in Quarter. We didn't play against decent teams like Aus, WI, NZ or Eng. So can't say we were decent.

Jaiswal will be challenging for the Indian senior opener spot soon. All he needs is one good IPL.

I can see Shaw and Jaiswal opening for India in the next 2 years. It all depends on when Rohit declines. Dhawan is on his way out of the team.

WI were more poorer than any cricket team in early days still they manage to get 2 World Cup and due to bad luck loss 1 final. Our first problem is players selection process followed by coaches, fitness, maturity,,,,

Dravid’s third final as a coach in a row. You really need to doff your hat to him.

The Indian kids are talented, no doubt, but surely having Dravid in the setup has brought in this maturity and professionalism at such an early age.

Mental midgets.

More than anything the PCB needs to hire world class sports psychologists for the senior and youth needs. These massive collapses at the big stage continues to plague Pakistan cricket

NZ, Eng, Aus were not even that good.
Aus were probably on par with us.
Afg was NOT an easy side

We lost this match because we were playing against India. IF we were playing against Aus or NZ, we probably would have won

THIS

Pakistan is a country that rewards mediocrity. This is reflected in both in its cricket and other spheres of life.

It seems like Pakistan have a mental block against India, should consult a psychiatrist.

It seems like Pakistan have a mental block against India, should consult a psychiatrist.

India was a better team there are no two ways about it. If Pak would have batted a bit better the match could have been competitive. Opposition has to play differently when they are chasing 250+ than they have to when they are chasing 170 odd form the start.

Defending champion India stormed into its second successive Under-19 World Cup final after thrashing Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first semifinal here on Tuesday.

Four-time champion India produced an all-round display, dismissing Pakistan for 172 in 43.1 overs before overhauling the target in 35.2 overs. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (105) and Divyaansh Saxena (59) mixed caution with aggression and denied Pakistan a comeback chance.

Jaiswal, currently the highest run-getter (306 runs) in the tournament, smashed eight fours and three sixes in his 112-ball innings, while Saxena had six boundaries to his name.

As it happened| U-19 World Cup: India beats Pakistan by 10 wickets to reach seventh final

Earlier, Sushant Mishra (3/28), Kartik Tyagi (2/32) and Ravi Bishnoi (2/46) shared seven wickets between them, while Atharva Ankolekar (1/29) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (1/11) scalped one each to restrict Pakistan to a low score.

Tyagi bowled an inswinging yorker wide off the crease to uproot Irfan Khan’s off-stump and then got his second wicket with an intimidating bouncer that removed tail-ender Tahir Hussain.

For Pakistan, skipper Rohail Nazir (62) and opener Haider Ali (56) cracked half-centuries but found little support from their teammates. Ali’s 77-ball 56 contained nine hits to the fence, while Nazir smashed six boundaries in his 102 ball 62.

Pakistan, which was back-to-back champion in 2004 and 2006, hasn't beaten India at the U19 World Cup since 2010.

With political relations on a knife-edge, there has been no Test series between the two countries at senior level since 2007-08 and no white ball series since 2012-13.

The ‘Boys in Blue’ have reached the finals in 2000 (winners), 2006 (runners-up), 2008 (winners), 2012 (winners), 2016 (runners-up) and 2018 (winners). India will either face Bangladesh or New Zealand in the final.

After having a decent start, ended with 25 runs for 6 wickets,
Same happened at Wc match as well after having good partnership between Fakhar and Babar, after Babar getting out suddenly collapse started.
This just an example I gave.
Clearly there is a mental block.

Paras Mahambrey is the coach of this side.

Teams like this are good to bring depression among fans. I am deeply hurt.
I still can’t describe how I felt after the West Indies match in the WC.

Had a severe headache and felt emotionally down after that...

It hurted a lot.

Jaiswal and Saxena beat Pakistan as India soar into U19 Cricket World Cup Final

India romped into a third successive ICC U19 Cricket World Cup final with a thumping ten-wicket win over rivals Pakistan in Potchefstroom.

The old adversaries met at the semi-final stage in 2018 – when Pakistan were hustled out for 69 – and this was an equally emphatic victory for India with a remarkable opening partnership.

India captain Yashasvi Jaiswal struck an outstanding 105 off 113 balls and shared in a stand of 176 with Divyaansh Saxena (59 off 99 balls) as they cruised to their 173-run target with 88 balls to spare.

It was Jaiswal’s maiden century of the competition that took him top of the run-scoring charts, while his partnership with Saxena smashed the previous semi-final best of 152.

“It is a dream come true for me and I’m very happy to have done it for my country,” said Jaiswal.

“Words cannot fully describe how I feel. It’s amazing and I will never forget the moment in my life that I scored a century against Pakistan in a World Cup semi-final.”

The five-time champions came to South Africa highly fancied to defend their title and further justified that tag with an emphatic Super League semi-final success.

After winning the toss and batting, Pakistan slipped to 34 for two before Rohail Nazir (62 off 102 balls) and Haider Ali (56 off 77 balls) rebuilt nicely with a stand worth 62.

But it went horribly wrong from there as Sushant Mishra (3-28) struck three times amidst tight bowling from the other end that destroyed the rest of the Pakistani line-up in 43.1 overs.

It was then over to Jaiswal and Saxena – the pair dominant on their way to gunning down the target in 35.2 overs.

Now Paras Mhambrey’s men will take on the winner of Thursday’s semi-final clash between New Zealand and Bangladesh in the final for the right to be crowned U19 world champions once again.

Placement matches come thick and fast

Teams will scrap over Super League placings and aim to leave a lasting impression on the U19 World Cup in the coming days.

South Africa will aim to go out on a high when they face Afghanistan in the 7th Place Play-Off, with the batting muscle of the host nation going up against the spin-bowling wiles of the South Asian outfit.

Group B rivals West Indies and Australia lock horns again on 7 February in Benoni to determine who finishes fifth and sixth, while Pakistan go into the 3rd Place Play-Off the following day.

Scores in brief

India Under 19s beat Pakistan Under 19s by ten wickets, JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom
Pakistan 172 all out, 43.1 overs (Rohail Nazir 62, Haider Ali 56; Sushant Mishra 3-28, Ravi Bishnoi 2-46)
India 176 all out, 35.2 overs (Yashasvi Jaiswal 105no, Divyansh Saxena 59no)

Hopefully we do better next time.

now we just wait for Friday so we get some happiness from thrashing the minnows.

Tired of hoping. Want to see some results now.

Also, minnows whom? We dont even know who is going to be knocked out in the 2nd semifinal. And on a day like this when we have already been seriously humbled it is incredibly stupid to throw shade on other teams, especially since any team who has reached semis can not be taken lightly.

I was talking about the pak vs bd game :ifti

I think today's defeat should be partly owned up by the pak media for over hyping the match and also the seniors and ex cricketers who thrust their pressure and inability to win matches over to the young kids to paint a rosy picture of pcb and parroting about the turnaround in pcb after the the change in management if pak wins ...... Just compare the matches until pak vs Afghanistan and today, we could see the pressure in the pak team and moody mentioned the same when the video of them training from 8:30 am for the match was shown which was very early and them being overcooked with pressure from all sides....

Glitzy event comes before boom though, in order to achieve those dividends, right?

Im from India...even though I feel happy when we win a deterioritting Pak team is not a good sign for cricket.

Pak lads have always been a force in U19... They were deadly in low scoring matches and always challenged India.

The only reason this team lost by 10 wickets is the mental domination Indian senior team on Pak senior team. This is really being passed down now unlike a few years ago.

Pak teams main problem I see is they are nowadays always try to 'prove' something infront of the fans...instead of just smiling and being focussed. Clearly an unnecessary under pressure situation.....instead of that if they just focus and pkay their natural game, the famous passion woll be back quickly. ...One good win against India...just one will be enough to get in to that confidence track. ..Just like Aamir's that deadly spell which almost got India...but lost only tp Kohli's master class...

Pak team just needs to come out of that pressure fabric ..start enjoying the game....instead of that they always worry about comparison with India...

Thats where the root cause of the issue..

Pak team = Passion ... just allow the players to enjoy their natural game... Avoid comparing with Indian players.

Then see what happens. Im sure...they will be on track.

This Jazba tag associated with Pak cricket is completely overrated! What teams like Australia or India have shown us that consistent winning performances come from ruthless discipline, precision & composure. I would anyday take calculative play than mindless aggression & passion!

People are overreacting for one loss in a U-19 match. I have seen only one match of Pakistan U19. Their fielding was bad, but their bowling and batting were good. If a few guys from this team develop their skills and go on to play in the senior team, that is what really matters.

Talent for Talent, India has been a far superior side than Pakistan in all formats, results don't lie.

Biggest Difference has been that their ex legends have given back to their next generation whereas our legends have not bothered or delivered.

India has totally professionalized their grass roots while we are as usual 10-15 years too late

Only mental? You sure there are no skill difference?
Can you attribute a collapse of six wickets for 20-odd runs to just lack of skill? It's not like India ripped apart our batting line-up. That run-out exemplifies the muddled thought process, enough said.

Although this Jaiswal kid is very good.

India Under 19 pacer Sushant Mishra won hearts on Tuesday during the high-octane semi-final against arch-rivals Pakistan at Potchefstroom with his kind gesture. The Indian seamer hit Pakistan top-order batsman Haider Ali in the fourth over of the match with a nasty bouncer, flush on the helmet and the batsman fell on the ground immediately.

Well done Sushant! Clearly shows civility can coexist with intense rivalry between the teams.

Today is Mamoon’s Eid day. He has been waiting for this

India's dominance today has been the result of a good 20 years of hard work. India had already turned the corner on Indo Pak games under Ganguly but now India's dominance over Pakistan resembles Australia's dominance over England from 1989 to 2003 which eventually ended in 2005

Wasn't it on the Shoulder?

India are probably going to win another U19 WC.

Hopefully this time it's legitimate.

Whereas in the 80s and 90s, Ind feared us, its our players that look scared against them. The change came in the 2003 WC and although the results are pretty even since then, the crunch matches have been won by Ind. Our players have no confidence and it needed the Navy man-FZ to take them on. We need to tell all our players to go out and play without fear but that is easier said than done.

So much rubbish from PCB every day hyping up so many players. Big talk, big plans, but at the end of the day utter rubbish when it mattered.

Muhammad Haris looked good and was playing with ease, it took brilliance in the field to dismiss him. Haider Ali, Rohail Nazir and Muhammad Haris are the ones to look out for in the future.

Who were impressive from Indian squad though or it’s hard to judge based on this match as they didn’t face Naseem?

Wow!

I expected India to win but not a 10-wicket win. India have been very clinical. Congratulations.

Couple of things:

Firstly, are the people of Aus, NZ, SA (Home team), Eng etc going to be as critical of an under 19 defeat as some of our journalists and fans are. What about talent at their grass root level and what about their skills? Obviously in player development they are ahead but is a defeat in semi finals of an U19 WC really gonna produce that much amount of self realization for other teams. I dont think so and none of them even went to the semis.

Also yes we have lost to arch rival India but they are a better team than most teams so there is no point being over critical of our U19 boys. India is a top side across the formats and just because of rivalry between the two teams doesnt mean everything has to be taken emotionally. Pak lost to eventual winner which was India and played semis even with a pretty poor team in 2018 and now lost again to probably the eventual winners.

Secondly coming to skills, yes there might be a difference but India didnt produce unplayable deliveries that Pak lost 6 wickets for 20 odd runs. They just kept on bowling good lines and deserve all the praise, it was our batting which was unable to play release shots when required. I am not sure if it was the pressure or something else as atleast 3-4 of Pakistani batsmen showed enough skill in previous matches and they just played some poor shots which is part and parcel of cricket.

Just to add there is undoubtedly roam for improvement just like many sides around the world and necessary work should be done. School cricket system needs to be created again as I have mentioned multiple times as we are loosing some brilliant talent on that side.

I think this game proves our cricketers are mentally weak, and there is a serious issue brewing up in the upcoming and existing cricketers. People here do bhangra on their failures due to lack of skill, but this issue is also a very serious one and needs to be addressed before it rips our cricket apart even more so.

Players coming in from our setup literally fall apart at the slightest hint of pressure. This is brushed aside due to lack of skills at all levels, and new players are brought in, only for them to also fall apart in the same way. You can lack skill, but work hard to improve yourself as a cricketer always. Our players disintegrate and Rohail's knock today was a perfect example of this. A guy who has scored runs in FC cricket, cannot be expected to such a poor reader of the game against bowlers who have hardly played any FC games in their careers. The pressure he put himself under made him look nothing more than a tail-ender. Similarly, Haider Ali smacked that disgusting long hop from a part-timer straight into the hands of point after being well set having faced 77 deliveries. These two are FC cricketers, having recently played the final of the premier domestic competition of their country. It's embarrassing how both fell apart in the face of decent bowlers, with hardly any FC experience

I don’t really take the U19s format seriously because only 2-3 players make it at International level for the seniors and only 1-2 end up with a established long career.

However what is worrying is the fact that Pakistani bowlers were unable to take any wickets - something usually you would not often see. The grassroot gap is huge and evident.
