India , a very talented team have yet to play that well but are about to make the semis. They had so many close calls and some luck on their side.
This is so similar to pakistan in 1992 who lost 3 or 4 games but only made it through mostly due to other teams failures and rain. Also a very talented team but not the best in the tournament.

Once they made the semis they felt they had nothing to lose and won 2 tight ( esp the semi) games. I feel (but really hope not) that India are due and will finally lift their game in the semis and take the tournament win.

Another similarity is that in both the tournaments, India beat Pakistan so you never know.

The 92 team wasn’t just talented, but one of the tournament favourites, like India are here

No parallel because T20 is a junk format.
If this was ODI, you had a point.

Yeah, because BD cannot play t20 well it’s a junk format. All format presents their own challenges. Good teams will want to excel in all format while acknowledging their strengths and weaknesses. Poor teams will find excuses

BD are terrible at every format. What has it have to do with BD?

T20 is just a junk format. IPL and T20 have destroyed cricket.

This is a circus format lol I don't care if we get kicked out. Good batsman plays 20 balls on an average. Just time pass.

It really is.

Winning a T20 World Cup isn't the same as winning an ODI World Cup or World Test Championship.

I would even put Champions Trophy ahead of World T20.

You must be very confident that india will win with Dinesh karthik, Bhuvaneswar, Ashwin, Axar, KL Rahul. This side is more likely to lose to India B on these venues.

To win ODI world cup you play
1100 overs of cricket ( that is a lot )

To win t20 world cup you play

280 overs of cricket ( realistically ) + 3 qualifying matches ( if needed ) takes it to 400 overs max

To win icc champions trophy you play
500 Overs of cricket.

World Test championship
2 year cycle and very very tough

Only WTC Final is composed of 450 overs.

I wasn't referring to number of overs and stuffs like that.

I am just saying T20 format as a whole doesn't have the same quality as ODI or Test. So, World T20 is possibly the least important ICC trophy.

92 was a mixture of youth and oldies. Youth won it for them. Akram/Inzamam. But for them Pakistan was gone for all money. This one is primarily oldies. Oldies drag the team down. That is what happened to Australia.

DK made international debut in 2004/05
Rohit 2007
Kohli 2008
Ashwin 2010
Shami 2013
Bhuvi 2013
KL Rahul 2014

No young blood bar Arshdeep singh who incidentally is the highest wicket taker for India.

Only Pakistan remains hung up on 1992.
This despite winning silverware in 2009 and 2017.

Rest of the world have moved on from their past laurels. Even Sri Lanka fans don't reference 1996 as a touchstone.

But every tournament, someone will start the 'can this be another 1992' . Invariably it will be after Pak bottles a big game for the nth time and is on verge of crashing out.
