India: Positive developments tracker thread

I have been pleasantly surprised by Tata and Mahindra cars in last decade. They have improved significantly.
I don’t know the numbers but it seems they might be close to Maruti

No even both combined are not close to Maruti. Maruti holds around 39% market share and mahindra and Tara hold close to 13% each

Have they closed the gap in last decade?
When I went to India this time I saw more Mahindra and Tata cars on roads in NCR than I saw Maruti. Maybe in tier 2 cities Maruti has a much higher hold but in NCR they seem to be losing market share.

That’s what it felt like from the eye test.

They have massively closed gap, no doubt. Maruti used to be closer to 50% and Hyundai behind them. Now either it is tata or mahindra in top 3. In next decade or so it will be much more evenly split. Expect Maruti to come down to %30 and Tata, Mahindra to be around 20% each. Overall sales cross five million and expected cross 8 million by end of this decade. So 20% market share will translate into 1.5 million vehicles at lease plus whatever they export. Mahindra is also pretty big in exports

Here lies the sanctum sanctorum of the country’s industrial future—robots assembling semiconductor chips without any human supervision. One more factory is posted to open in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

Anthropic opening an office in Bangalore.. there will be a supreme rush to get employed there

Brother you’re continuously breaking the thread rules by posting negative stuff.

Many Pakistanis sincerely read this thread to genuinely learn about the positive developments happening in India. You’re discouraging them through your nasty actions which are fine in other threads but don’t belong here. I hope you understand and stop it right here, dear.

If you cant house the new generation with new built houses or even flats - thats really concerning imo.

Talk about it, dont hide away from it.

No dear.
I created positive threads for India, Pakistan and Bangladesh to ensure safe space for positive only posting for those interested as most other threads were littered with negative commentary.

For example you make your critical posts in other threads like Modi
ambassador of peace, Operation Sindoor and Rafale threads. That’s completely fine. But we will really appreciate if you can stop shitposting in positive threads.

Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer retires, insider Asha Sharma takes over

Microsoft, opens new tab said on Friday gaming head Phil Spencer is retiring after 38 years at the software maker, in a major leadership shake-up. The company named insider Asha Sharma as the executive vice president and CEO of the gaming division. In her previous role, Sharma led product development for AI models and services at Microsoft.

Sharma said she would renew focus on the Xbox console, aiming to "recommit to our core Xbox fans and players."

Microsoft Gaming has been grappling with tariff-induced cost pressures, strong competition and uncertain consumer spending, prompting price rises on Xbox hardware.

Last month, Microsoft reported that its gaming revenue fell around 9.5% in the December quarter, and it recorded undisclosed impairment charges in the division.

Microsoft had closed its $69 billion deal for "Call of Duty" maker Activision Blizzard in 2023, swelling its heft in the video-gaming market after heavy regulatory scrutiny.

The company's gaming unit contends with robust competition from Sony's PlayStation, particularly regarding console market share and exclusive game offerings.

Spencer said he would remain in an advisory role through the summer to ensure a smooth handover.

"Last year, Phil Spencer made the decision to retire from the company, and since then we've been talking about succession planning," Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said.

The company also said Sarah Bond, president and chief operating officer at Xbox, is leaving the company "to begin a new chapter."

Matt Booty has taken over the role of executive vice president and chief content officer at the gaming division, the company said.

Booty was previously president of game content and studios at Microsoft, according to his LinkedIn page.

The company said Booty would report to Sharma, who previously worked at Meta, opens new tab and online grocery delivery firm Instacart.

"Microsoft's leadership transition is appropriate as it comes at a time when the technology underlying gaming is shifting. As AI becomes a bigger element in game development, Microsoft needs a new generation of leaders to manage through this transition," said D.A. Davidson analyst Gil Luria.

Its a good idea about how indians are using the Claude/AI for the better productivity than the global users. All the IT hubs and educational institutions are using it well above the global average. Claude is investing itself heavily in lots of sectors in India as it improves the model.

I have used Couple of Claude models in last few months, they are very good esp for coding.. I wonder how it works for research papers though

Report said Indian searched keywords are top 10 percent of global rankings for knowledge related articles. So i think it should be reasonably used.one more interesting thing is that Claude is using India as its primary testing place to enhance its model. Therefore its offering its free services in lots of educational facilities and resources section.

Tata is getting involved in anything, and now with Ratan not here i wonder how this will play out

Tata's biggest strength is due to being a conglomerate its own captive consumption ensures many of its businesses run at capacity. TCS for instance i think generates a big chunk of revenue from managing Tata entreprises IT services. Then you have Tata Power paving EV infrastructure that's going to support its automobiles fleet. They're a humongous conglomerate which hasn't reached its full potential.

That also makes them lazy.. once upon a time TATA administrative service(TAS) was valued as much as IAS, nowadays lol no one knows about it because these companies have become all about Qtrly profits ..

But i do agree they have the ability to scale and that’s important.

Tata's biggest strength is NOT captive consumption. Just to clear a common misconception, about 3% of TCS revenues. Useful but hardly the 'big chunk' you're talking about. Historically Tata's biggest growth has come from letting the conglomerate's group companies operate as independent entities paying dividends and royalties for the use of the name to the parent. Whenever the parent has tried to involve themselves in strategy, it's usually not turned out well.

Let's see where they go from here but the last 30 years haven't been very kind to conglomerates.
